Cassidy left Tyler's house and went straight to St. Mungo's. After inquiring at the front desk, she found out what room Emily Alchemia was staying in and she walked uncertainly down the hall to the room. She paused to peek through the door and saw that Emily was awake and talking to Vincent Corrigan. Biting her bottom lip nervously, she pushed open the door and walked in.
"Um, Ms. Alchemia? Mr. Corrigan?" she said hoarsely, her voice cracking. "Um, my name is Cassidy LaRose, and I work for the Auror office. I just have a few questions to ask you."

Vincent looked at the young woman who had just entered. She looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't place her. "You say you work for the Auror office? That's not possible. I'm the head of the Auror office, and I don't remember you."

Cassidy felt her confidence, which had already been shaky from the start, begin to waver even more. "Oh, but I do work for you. I work in the office. You know, I do all the paperwork you leave behind?"

Vincent looked at her again, trying to remember. "Oh! Right, my secretary! Why didn't you say so?" Vincent said. "What did you need?"

"Um, actually, I'm not your secretary," Cassidy said. "I'm an Auror. I work for you, but you never give me field assignments. Remember?"

"Right. Yeah, of course," Vincent said absently. "So, what, do you have something you need me to sign?"

Cassidy took a deep breath. I must be more confident in myself. Tyler needs me, she thought to herself. "I'm not your secretary!" she said a little more forcefully. "Listen, I understand that Ms. Alchemia was hurt in an attack on the Order of the Phoenix today, and one of the people involved was an Auror, Tyler Jackson, who claims he was under the Imperius Curse when he lead three Death Eaters to the headquarters. He came into the office with Dumbledore, and since I was the only one there, I am taking his case. I need to interview both of you about what happened from your perspectives." She finished in a rush, and when she was done, she felt a strange mix of emotions. Part of her was proud for having stood up and taken charge, while another part felt she had just stuck her entire foot into her mouth and tried to swallow. "Um, that is, if you don't mind," she added weakly, trying to soften it.

Emily could tell that this woman was sort of nervous, so she smiled at her. "Of course we don't mind," spoke up Emily. "We'll answer any and all of the questions that you may have," she said looking between her and Vincent.

Cassidy breathed a sigh of relief. "Um, OK, great. I guess, for starters, can you just, um... tell me what happened?" She took out a small notebook and a quill.

"At first, Tyler got Dumbledore outside the room," said Emily. "Then a blond woman, Claudia, came in, then a blond man, Charles. He was fixing to attack Vincent, then I sort of jumped in the way. After that, I couldn't tell you," she said.

"So, you were first struck by a spell from Charles, right?" Cassidy said. "Can you tell me who else was there? Tyler mentioned a third person, a man, but he didn't know his name. He just said he had dark hair."

Vincent was a little surprised by her outburst, but he listened to what she had to say and to Emily's response. "Yeah," he said at last. "There was a third guy. He tried to attack me after Emily was knocked out." He thought for a minute. "He changed his mind, though, and attacked Claudia instead. There was a woman... one of the Order members. She knew him, and she said... she said, 'What are you doing?' to him. And I think she said his name, too. Randall... or Randolph. Yeah, that was it. Anyway, he changed his mind and fired a disarming spell at Claudia, just as Charles grabbed her and stopped her from killing Voltaire." He looked at her carefully. "Listen, you didn't buy Jackson's story, did you? He attacked Dumbledore. He dueled with him. Does that sound like an innocent guy?"

"What I believe is beside the point," Cassidy said, trying to sound braver than she felt. "The point is, I'm supposed to investigate the case, and I'm not just going to let one person take the blame for what happened. But for the record, Dumbledore himself brought Tyler in, and he is willing to vouch for the fact that he was under the Imperius Curse. But I'm going to investigate all possibilities. Now, thank for the information about this Randolph. That name sounds familiar... Do you happen to know the name of the woman who knew him?"

Vincent frowned. What was her name, anyway? Um, Christy. Something like that. Christy Jenkins, maybe? No, wait... Jacobs. Crystal Jacobs. Yeah, that was her." He leaned back and looked at her again. "Is that all you wanted to know?"

"No, um, I actually have one more thing to ask," Cassidy said. "Um, how well did you know Tyler? Did either of you really talk to him or know him, and did you notice anything odd about him before the attack?"
|

"I really didn't know him very well," Vincent said. "I just knew he was a former Death Eater who switched sides. He seemed OK to me. And he helped Emily once when a Death Eater tried to attack her. Do you remember that, Em? What did you think of him then?"

"Well, even at that point whenever he helped me, he seemed sort of out of it," said Emily. "Although, I've always thought that he was okay, because I think it was a couple of days before he helped me out, he came into the Hog's Head and we talked for a few minutes. He seemed like a nice person and everything. I mean I think I have to side with Cassidy on the whole matter. I don't think that Jackson should go to Azkaban, since he was apparently under that curse. I believe he's innocent."

Cassidy smiled. "Good. Thank you for your help. This definitely will help me with the case. When this goes to trial, Miss Alchemia, will you be willing to say that on the stand as a witness?"

Emily nodded. "Of course I will. We don't need innocents going to Azkaban," said Emily. "And I'm glad I could help."

"That's great!" Cassidy said. "Um, just so you know, Mr. Corrigan, I followed the rules in the book, so he's otherwise pretty much on house arrest, and his wand has been confiscated. It was either that or Azkaban, and I felt this was better." She looked at Emily nervously. "Um... also, I talked with Tyler earlier, and he feels really badly about what happened. He'd like to come and visit you tomorrow--if that's OK with you--and apologize. I will be with him the whole time. "
