It had been about a week since Evangeline had seen or heard from Tristan. She finally figured that things were too good to be true, and she needed a drink or two. Evangeline ordered something strong, she didn't care what it was, just something strong, and took a seat at an empty table. She should have known better than to let her guard down so soon, and she should have taken things slower, but she didn't. It was the same mistake she made a few years before, but now, she vowed to herself that she wouldn't take things too fast, she'd go slower, that is if she got the chance again. Right now, she was mad at Tristan for just dumping her like that, without really telling her anything, but then again she was angry with herself for letting him. Life started going back to normal..... the single life, which wasn't that bad, at times. Evangeline took a long drink for her glass, and she hoped things were going better for Cassidy.

Cassidy walked into the Hog's Head. It wasn't her favorite place to be, and she was really hoping not to run into Vincent, after the incident at Tyler's house. But she'd gotten a note from Evangeline to meet her here, so she walked in carefully and looked around. She saw her friend sitting at the bar, drinking, so she walked over to her and hugged her. "Evangeline! What's wrong? You look so unhappy!"

Evangeline hugged Cassidy back and managed to give her a smile, then taking another swallow out of her glass. "Hey Cass," said Evangeline. "Let's just say, I feel like I've been used, again. But it's nothing a few shots of this, and a night out can't heal I don't suppose. What about you? You look happier than I've seen you in awhile!"

Cassidy blushed. "Oh, no, it's nothing... it's just... you know, work's going well for a change. I finally feel like I have a purpose. I like working with Tyler, he's really nice and, um.... well, I mean, I like helping him..." She looked at Evangeline again. "Oh, wait, what do you mean you've been used again... you mean things didn't go well with that guy?"

Evangeline shook her head. "He was just like the same one as before. Charming and everything like that, but only wanting one thing," she said. "It's been a week, and I haven't heard from him or anything. I shouldn't have let my guard down." Evangeline finished her drink, and ordered another. "But, it's not important. It's happened before. "Tell me, there's something more with this Tyler guy. Come on Cass! You can't hide it from me, you know that!"

"Oh... I'm so sorry," Cassidy said. "I had such hopes for this one. He was a doctor, wasn't he?" She shook her head and ordered a butterbeer for herself. "Oh, don't be silly, there's nothing to tell about Tyler.... I'm just helping him with his case, that's all. Although, I guess it's a little more than that... I guess you could say we're kind of friends..." Somehow she couldn't stop herself from grinning slightly.

"Yeah, he was a doctor, but hopefully I won't make this same mistake again," said Evangeline. "But yeah, sure, whatever you say Cass. That grin on your face says differently, but I'm just going to go with what you say. You're just friends," she said with a grin.

"What grin?" Cassidy asked guiltily. "I mean, OK, he's really good-looking, and he told me I was pretty, but I'm sure he doesn't actually like me that way... and, oh, I don't like him that way, either... I mean, not that I wouldn't or that there's anything wrong with him or anything, but it just wouldn't be right, me working on his case and all.... Oh, I've just dug myself in deeper, haven't I?" She blushed and took a long drink from her glass.

Evangeline grinned again. "Yes, you're just digging yourself deeper dear," said Evangeline. "Well, I'll tell you what. I think you like him, but are just afraid to admit it, but then again that's just my opinion. You never know, he may like you. There's always that chance, and just because you're working on his case doesn't mean anything. Oh and by the way, I read his article in the paper. I can't stand that Ackart woman. She lies too much, so I'm behind you all the way."

"Ohhhh... you read that awful article?" Cassidy said. "Well, I'm glad you still believe in me... and him. I read that article and I believed it at first and I marched over there and yelled at him.... it was so embarassing, I totally let him have it. And then he calmed me down and made me realize it was all a lie. I mean, if he really did it on purpose, what good would it do him to admit it in the paper for all to read? How stupid would that be? Anyway, I felt kind of bad for doubting him... I mean, I'm the one person who's supposed to believe in him and help him, right?"

"Well, I can understand why you were angry," said Evangeline. "Don't feel bad. Just about anyone would have done the same. Although, I have to say I'm proud of you. You actually went over there and yelled," she said with a smile. "You're losing your shyness dear Cass. Tyler is doing you some good."

"Do you think so?" Cassidy said, blushing again. "Well... I do feel comfortable with him. More than I've ever felt with any guy. I can actually talk to him, which I never could do, even back at school. But... I don't want to make a big deal of it. Things are complicated right now. But now I feel bad... things are going well for me, but now you've had your heart trampled again. Do you think you were in love with him?"

"Well, see, you're getting somewhere," said Evangeline with a smile. "Don't feel bad. It's just a minor set back for me. I'm fine. I don't think I loved him. It was too early for me to tell. I mean I think I just liked him a lot, but it's over, and it's happened before. Nothing new," she added with a slight shrug.

"Oh, but still... he hurt you. Dumping you like that... it was wrong. And stupid. I mean, really, does he really think he can do any better than you? You're so beautiful and smart and fun... Any guy would be lucky to have you. He's an idiot for dumping you, and I know sooner or later, he'll regret it. I just hope you'll have moved on to someone much better by then." She took a drink from her butterbeer. "Oh.... I almost forgot! I heard the most shocking news the other day!"

"Thanks Cass," said Evangeline with a smile."I don't think I'm going to be dating for awhile though," said Evangeline. "But I don't plan on going back to him though. Anyway, tell me! What news have you heard?"

"Well, I met this new auror, who just came in from America. Her name is Angelique St. Clare... and get this--she's Wesley's half sister! And even more shocking..." Cassidy paused and leaned in closer, then spoke in a whisper, "it turns out Wesley's alive after all! He faked his death, and pretty soon, he's going to come out of hiding. Apparently, this all came out right after that little girl was killed--she was his daughter!"

"Seriously!?" said Evangeline. "I wonder why he faked his death in the first place. But I feel horrible for him, since it was his daughter that died. This stuff is never going to end. I know that some person came into the registry the other day talking about how things are going to go Voldemort's way, or something along those lines, although I think the man was a little on the crazy side."

"I have no idea, but I think it must have something to do with his wife's death. Like the same people involved in her death were trying to kill him... and instead, ended up killing his daughter." Cassidy shook her head. "It's all such scary stuff, you know? Anyway, I'm glad Wesley's still alive. He was always such a nice guy."

"Yeah, Wesley was always a nice guy," said Evangeline. "I'm glad he's still alive too." Evangeline took another drink. "Well, tell me, when are we going to get a new Minister since Craven is dead? Or do you know? I don't hear anything until after it's happened."

"I think there's going to be an election," Cassidy replied. "I don't know who's going to run, except for Christian Matthews. He's been heavily hinting that he wants the job for a while now. You know him, right? The head of the magical law enforcement office? He's kind of uptight, but basically a nice guy. I wonder who else will run."
