Landon finished writing his letter and reread it before tying it to one of the school's owls legs.
Dear Mom and Dad,
I made it here fine. Its cool so far even though nothing much has happened just yet. I'll tell you more later.

Remus walked up to the owlery to send a letter to his father. He usually wrote to him just after the full moon to let him know everything had gone OK, but he was a bit late for this one. He hoped his dad wasn't worried. He stepped inside and saw another boy he didn't recognize. "Hi," he said.

Landon turned around quickly, a bit startled. "Oh, hey." He smiled, and put his quill back in his bag. "I'm Landon Travis." He nodded at the boy.

"Hi, I'm Remus Lupin," he said. He picked out one of the school owls and tied his letter to its leg. "Are you new? I don't think I've seen you around before." When he was sure the letter was tied securely, he released the owl and watched it fly away.

"Yeah, I just got here a few days ago." Landon replied. "The school seems pretty cool so far. Although I haven't been involved in much yet. What about you? What year are you in?" He asked, watching Remus's owl fly off.

"I'm a first year," Remus said. "I've only been here a few months myself. It's been pretty cool, although there have been a lot of bad things happening lately." He frowned. He didn't want to make this kid think the place was dangerous. "But then, I guess there have been some good things, too."

Remus looked at him nervously. "I probably shouldn't have said anything," he said. "But, um... well, first this girl Elle was kidnapped by Death Eaters and she came back weird... with no memory. And then at the Halloween dance, she went nuts and stabbed the Muggle Studies teacher, who turned out to be a Death Eater. Um, and then... well, there was an attack and two seventh years were killed and two other girls were seriously hurt. They're both OK now, but Lucie's kind of... off... since her boyfriend was killed." He closed his mouth for a second, realizing he probably shouldn't have said all that. "But, like I said, some good things have happened, too. I mean, uh, Professor Rothschild and Professor SkipIt are getting married... that's a good thing. You didn't see Ms. Rothschild before she met him... she was scary. Now she's really nice."

Landon raised his eyebrows, "Wow. You can't blink at this school can you? You'd miss something exciting." He paused and thought about all the events Remus had just explained. "So I guess its not all bad. When's the wedding anyways? Who's she inviting?"

"It's tomorrow, actually. And all the students and staff are invited. My girlfriend's sister is the flower girl, and my friends Rori and Anna are bridesmaids. I know you don't know anyone, but you should come. It would help you meet people." Remus said. "I'm going with Sabrina... that's my girlfriend. Sorta."

Bane walked into the owelry to send a letter to his Dad and saw to other boys already in there. He nodded at them and and whistled. His brown barn owl flew down. Bane tied the letter to its leg, gave it some feed, and sent it off and watched it fly into the distance.

Lucie strolled upto the owlery to send a letter to Ian's mom, she promised she'd keep an update of everything strange that went on after Ian's death. She saw Remus and two other students she didn't recognise ''Hey Remus!'' She said smiling ''Not seen you in a while!''
