"Thank you Diana, for saving our lives from the bullet that would have pierced my heart." she said giving herself the gratitude Christian refused to.
"You're welcome Christian." she deadpanned giving him a look.
She calmed down knowing that her son was safe. Physical wounds were easy, but the emotional heartache at having her son in danger once more made her feel weak.
"Where are we?"

Christian raised his brow in amusement as Diana thanked herself on his behalf for flinging her pregnant body into the path of an oncoming bullet....or saving them all, whichever way you wanted to look at it. "Good, now I don't have to say it," he mused in a provoking manner.
As she asked where they were, Christian looked around. He had had plenty of time while Diana slept to take in their surroundings, but it was still strange nonetheless. "Godric's Hollow," he answered. "One of Burke's mate's home. Second home, I'm guessing considering he's probably more well off than you."

She glared at him and huffed at his refusal to thank her, but took the teasing in stride.
Diana frowned, Christian didn't narrow it down for her at all, but she was wary of being in someone's home that she didn't know. Mostly she didn't want to put anyone else in danger.
"How long have I been out?" she asked, full of questions. She had been invigorated during the fight, and while she didn't want to risk her son's safety, she wasn't exactly looking to return to the meek role of prisoner.

"Most of the day," he answered. In truth, he wasn't quite sure how long either of them had been out. Derek had come over in the morning for the anchoring ritual and by the time they woke up from that they were under attack. Christian hardly had time to stop and look at a clock to see how long they had been unconscious trying to shut out Silas from Diana's mind. He couldn't be certain, but he guessed the battle that destroyed his home had only lasted less than 45 minutes by the time Diana and Christian joined the fight. It was around four in the afternoon when Christian looked at the clock sitting on the desk in Kaden's guest room, and Christian had been sitting by Diana's bed since then. It was after 8:30 now.
"Do you want anything?" he asked, remembering that Hanley had made it a point of mentioning that Diana had obviously been eating better since his last visit.

"Answers." she sighed, "Who was it that crucioed you? Why did he do it? Did the anchoring spell work? How long are we staying here? Where are we going? How soon can we go? I'm sorry about the House. What about your mother?" she said listing off the most immediate concerns.
She looked up at him, "Are you okay?"

Some of her questions he had answers to, others were still up for debate. He knew Silas, which meant he would have an easier time tracking the bastard down. There was a chance Silas had brought all of his men to the attack, thinking sheer numbers would make him the victor. It was a slim chance, but a possibly not the truth. Silas wouldn't have invested all of his men leaving for the possibility that his own little group would be diminished. Until they took care of Silas, his home wasn't safe. And Silas both knew and had recognized Derek, which meant Derek's house was out of the question as well. And any properties Diana might have owned would be doubly out of the question as she had half the hit wizards, assassins, and bounty hunters in the country, possibly across Europe, looking for her. Clearly this was the reason they were at Kingston's house now, despite Christian not being pleased about it.
But Diana raised a question he hadn't thought of. One that scared him now. He had been too worried over Diana to consider it but if Silas knew Christian was with Diana, or even if he was purely after Christian for some twisted revenge scheme, Roselyn Ward was in danger. The muscles in his jaw flexed but otherwise he kept his composure, fairly certain Diana would attempt something stupid if she saw the panic in his eye.
"You can have answers after you eat something. It's been all day. Liam is probably starving." He was not above using their son against her if it meant she would permit him or anyone else to take care of her. And fetching something from the kitchen would give him the opportunity to speak with Burke about securing his mother.

"I don't want to eat I-" just then her stomach betrayed her with a growling complaint. Diana looked at the bump on her stomach, "Traitor." she narrowed her eyes then relaxed her neck and settled back in bed.
"Alright. Fine. You win. Food first. But I'm a part of this Christian." she gave him a hard look, she wouldn't play the complacent prisoner anymore. She was ready to fight.

"F*ck you're cute when you're stubborn." Christian gave her a charming smile and left the room. He wandered around a bit before stumbling onto the kitchen and helping himself to the contents of the fridge. He made Diana a plate of the leftover chicken and pasta and found some pre-baked rolls in the cupboard. He wanted to make her something more fresh but it wasn't his home and he was already taking food without asking. Though, Kingston Global could handle the extra grocery bill.
He heard someone in the next room. "Burke?"

"She awake yet?" Derek asked stepping into the kitchen. He opened the fridge having none of the qualms about eating someone else's food that Christian may have had.
"Make yourself at home, by the way." he added, "Kaden said to use the place as long as you need. He's returned to the city."

Christian nodded at Derek's question. "Good, that's one less thing for Diana to fret about. She doesn't like bringing other people in, does she?" Christian had a strange feeling that he knew Diana had qualms about letting people help her. And not simply because she was pig-headed, which she was to boot, but because of some incident in the past. He wasn't sure why he thought that, and shook his head before quickly moving on to more pressing matters.
"Take this to her, will you? I have something I need to take care of," he said cryptically.

"No." he answered, "She really doesn't." It was a closed statement, though if Christian asked he would have told the story as he had before, but even he didn't have all the details.
When Christian made to hand off the plate Derek paused, "I'm actually on my way out. Is it urgent?"

"Yes, it's f*cking urgent. Silas is wanting Diana and me dead. It's not like he's some random hit wizard who'd have to work at figuring it out. He's knows who I am, he knows where my mother is."
Christian wasn't sure what he'd do with his mother once he got her. Would he put her up in a hotel under an alias or was she to stay here with the rest of them. Things would come out. They wouldn't be able to hide Diana's pregnancy. She might catch on to the life bond. Worst of all, he'd be living with his mother again.

Derek didn't need to ask Christian whether or not it was urgent. He realized after asking that Christian wouldn't leave Derek alone with Diana if it wasn't urgent.
Finally he nodded looking at the clock, "I can phone Stu and tell him to keep V at the bar for a while. Go get your mother. But hurry, you're not the only one with something to lose. And you're not the only one who royally pissed off that psycho today."
He laughed then, "Diana would kill us both if she knew that we were figuring out who would babysit her." The brunette would likely skin them alive.

Christian chuckled at the babysitting comment. "It might be safer to knock her out and pretend she just fell asleep." Diana killing three men in lingerie flashed into his head again. He didn't fancy seeing that when she was hopped up on pregnancy hormones.
Christian left pretty quickly after that. He realized on the way that he and Derek were talking and making light as if they were friends. Just as Derek claimed to have been the case before Christian lost his memories. Things were starting to click into place.

Two hours later Diana was shouting, "What the f*ck do you mean he's gone?! Where the f*ck did he go?!"
"I don't know Diana. He said he had to take care of something. He's a big boy, he'll be fine."
"This isn't funny Derek! We need to stick together right now and-"
Derek laughed, "That's rich coming from you. Admit it Diana, you're just mad he left you behind and you're injured. You always get surly when you're injured."
She snarled at him, just before the sound of something breaking echoed down the hall.

"I still don't see what all the fuss is about," Roselyn said in a cheery yet huffy manner that she had perfected over the years. "Your father got into plenty of scrapes in his day, dear, and here I am. Still standing."
They had stepped in through the front door of Kaden's home and Christian carried a look of pure exasperation. "I've told you, mum, it's not safe. Do me a favor and just trust me."
"Of course I trust you, Christian. I just think you're making a bigger deal out of things. You know how you always exaggerated things when you were younger. Do you remember when that neighbor girl knocked you down and stole your broom and you told your father it was a pack of teenage boys?"
"I was seven, mum." He took a deep breath.
"Don't you sigh at me, young man." She took a beat. "Now, where is my darling daughter in law?"

Derek just about ran from the room and met Christian in the foyer.
"She's all yours." he said stiffly then with more consideration he gave a warm formal nod toward Christian's mother, "Ma'am."
His eyes even sparkled flirtatiously as he greeted the woman who was far too young to be Christian's mother.

Christian caught the disturbing exchange and sneered. "She's sixty!" he called after Derek in disgust. Roselyn slapped him.
"You shut your mouth," she said sternly to her son before turning and wiggling her fingers at Derek in salutations. Christian rolled his eyes. "Well?" she asked after a few seconds.
Christian groaned. "Look, ma, there's something I need to tell you first."
"Oh Christian, stop with all the dramatics. Either you tell me or I'll go find your handsome friend and have him show me."
Christian sighed and ignored the look his mother gave him as he lead Roselyn toward the the room where Diana was undoubtedly having one of her tantrums. He knocked on the door before pushing it open, then slowly closed his eyes in annoyance as his mother pushed past him and hurried into the room. He didn't even have time to warn Diana.

"Christian Anthony Ward, you son of a -" Diana's eyes went round as saucers when Christian's mother appeared behind him, then was suddenly in the room.
Diana turned a new shade of pink from embarrassment in cursing out the woman's son, then she turned a little green as her stomach tied in knots over the sizable bump in her abdomen that clearly pronounced her current state, and finally she turned pale as the exertion in kicking Derek out and cursing Christian had taken quite a bit of strength - damn her insufferable wound.
"Roselyn!" Diana blinked, "Oh...um...surprise?"

Roselyn stopped in her tracks, her pleasant smile frozen into an expression of shock. She was silent for a few moments, staring at a clearly pregnant Diana. A few more seconds passed quietly before she loudly clapped her hands together and burst into a huge smile.
"You're pregnant!" she shouted finally. Roselyn rushed over to the bed, completely ignoring Diana's injuries as she scooped her daughter in law into her arms and gave her a warm hug. After at least a full 8 seconds of squeezing and squealing she released Diana, only to immediately turn around and slap Christian. "You should have told me!" she scolded her son.
Christian was expecting it. All of it. Every loud exclamation and admonishing statement. He didn't remember telling his mother that he was married, but he assumed it was much of the same. "We didn't want to pile it on all at once, mum."
