Lorelei had not given much thought to the process of being accepted into a pack initially. It had crossed her mind from time to time but she ignorantly assumed that it would be a simple task equating to nothing much more than simply presenting one's self and asking. But after Kas had made the suggestion and they had time to chat further about it, Lorelei found herself curious about the process.
She had gone to the library in an attempt to research the subject, which was difficult without drawing attention to herself. She looked young enough that she could pass for a student and told the librarian that she was doing research for a school report. But what she had found was not very pleasant.
"Kas?" Her voice was laced with concern as she stepped into the living room and shut the front door behind her. "Are you here?"

Kas wasn't concerned about the traditional aspects of gaining entry into the pack. He knew that when it came to fighting and magic he would rank high enough, but when it came to the last part of the initiation both he and his sister would have an advantage over the rest of the wolves.
But Kas had more than strength, power, and skills. He had leverage. He knew what his brother wanted, and with the spies he had on the pack he knew his brother's weaknesses and strengths. Becoming accepted was very nearly a sure thing, unless his brother was an idiot... then again.
"I'm in here Lor." he said once again his voice originating in the 'potions' room.

Lorelei walked down the hall and stopped in the doorway of Kas' potion room. "Did you know there are trials before we can join a pack? It sounds like a competition. What if we don't win? What if only one of us gets in?" What she meant was, will he leave her if she isn't accepted into the pack.

The ingredients for the potion he was preparing was very precise so her rapid fire questions were rather distracting. He turned the bunsen burner lower and set an alarm to alert him if there were any changes in the consistency of the potion. Another time he would have explained how similar potion making was to muggle chemistry, but the worry in his sister's eyes stopped him.
"One question at a time love." he smiled almost amused at her insecurities concerning the pack. He wasn't amused by her fears, but he knew they were uncalled for.
"Yes, I knew about the trials. Yes it is a competition. Don't worry about winning. We will both get in." he said answering each question confidently.

Lorelei bit her lip as her brother encouraged her to slow down. She had been asking herself these questions the entire way home and they had simply poured out at the same speed once she saw him. "But what if we aren't accepted? What if I don't win, Kas?"

"Don't worry Lor. Have you been practicing your spells?" he asked. He knew that Lor wasn't much of a fighter, her heart was too soft for others, but her magic was strong. She would prove to be a skilled asset in the pack, though Kas was enough of an asset for both any pack. His strength and skill alone were valuable, but his potions and crafts were priceless and he would bargain them all away to ensure his sister's safety.

Lorelei was currently nothing but worry. It would have been better to go into the situation blindly and only worry about it for a short period of time, but they were still a few weeks out from the full moon which meant she would fret over her inadequacies the entire time. Lorelei wouldn't know what to do if she and Kas were separated. She was an adult and she held a job, but she was still very reliant on her brother emotionally. If Kas was accepted into the pack when she wasn't he of course wouldn't leave her, but still she worried that he would discover he wanted to stay with his kind for more than just her sake.
She nodded to his question. "Yes," she answered hesitantly. She spent her down time at the shop performing spells and charms, not because she needed the practice but simply to pass the time. However, she would be practicing harder and more frequently from this point on. She needed to be accepted into the pack. Of course, should all else fail she would simply rely on the same trick she had used her entire life; she would let Kas take care of it for her. He hadn't failed her so far.

"Chin up love." he said taking her hands in his. He knew she was still worried.
"These potions will be done in time for the trials. You'll be able to keep your head during the Raun and follow my lead. And your magic will prove you an asset during the Fróðleikr. You have nothing to worry about."
He knew she would worry anyway.

She nodded again, this time more absentmindedly than the last. Yes, she was still worried but she had faith in Kas and Kas had faith in her. No matter the outcome, they would always have each other. Always and forever.
"Do you need any help with the potion?" She wanted something to do to keep her mind occupied.

He nodded indulgently. He was happy to give her tasks to take her mind off of her worries. Besides he appreciated the help, and Lor was actually quite useful as an assistant.

She didn't have Kas' natural talent for potions but she could follow directions well enough. When she wanted to, that is. She helped him with anything he asked of her and he kept her busy until her look of concern had dissipated. He was a good brother.
