"This is my home Aleksander! Of course I don't knock!" she yelled at him.
Despite what she had told him before she didn't actually think that Christine had slept with him. But now the proof was staring her in the face. Alek slept with Christine to get one over on Dorian. He used the poor girl when she was vulnerable and preyed on her.
"Is there no depth to which you won't sink brother?"
Christine scrambled for her clothes flushing a becoming red color, though she was keenly aware of brother and sister.

"You're making Christine uncomfortable, Aleksandra," he barked at her. Alek looked around and found his shirt on the floor. He picked it up and pulled it over his head. Christine didn't need Lex's hysterics, whether they had slept together or not. And as they hadn's slept together, the outburst from his sister was really very inappropriate considering how fragile Christine seemed the night before.

Lex looked from Alek to Christine then back at Alek, "Well maybe a bit of discomfort isn't such a bad thing, considering how comfortable you made her already!"
Christine threw her clothes on, but with each word Lex spat her 'discomfort' grew into anger.
"How could you do it Alek?" she asked him shaking her head with disappointment, "Was this your plan all along? You really are a maniacal bastard."
"That's enough." Christine said standing between Lex's outrage and the source of comfort Christine had clung to throughout the night.
"I apologize for making you uncomfortable, but this was a mistake. He took advantage of you! Whatever Alek has said-"
"I said that's enough!" Christine said slicing a hand through the air which had become thick with tension, "God! I am so sick of everyone treating me like a damned child!" She yelled with frustration.
"I came here last night Lex. It was my choice. And seeing as how Alek and I are both consenting adults it's really none of your damned business what we did. You can let the door hit you on the ass on the way out."
Lex looked between them once again. She didn't much expect to get anywhere after that. Though she didn't hold anything against Christine, she had the devil's glare to give to her brother for this mess.
"Fine, but we're not through." she said looking at Alek before picking up her book and slamming the door upon exit.

They certainly were not through. Alek permitted Lex to get away with a lot because of his love for his sister, but she was meddling with things that she never should have had a hand in to begin with.
"I apologize for my sister. She thinks she must be a part of everything."

"She's kind of a pain in the ass." Christine said unapologetically. She turned to face him, and in the light of day their situation suddenly seemed rather amusing to her. She smiled diverting a laugh.
"Thank you for last night."

Alek was in a difficult position. He recognized that he was starting to have feelings for Christine, more than just the lustful feelings any man in their right mind would have for such an attractive creature. But he loved his sister and knew her friendship with Christine was important to her. It was a predicament of his own creature, but no less difficult to maneuver.
"She is," he agreed with Christine's assertion. "But she means well."
Alek chuckled at her thank you. "Anytime," he said with a charming grin.

"Yes well, I'm a little sick of all the well meaning people in my life." she sighed. She made a visible attempt to reign herself back in.
"Lex, Dorian, Sam, everyone is so eager to protect me. It's suffocating." she sat next to him.
"I meant it you know, being with you is different. It's the only time I feel strong."

It had been Alek's intentions to win Christine over through his charms and support, but he had honestly believed every word of encouragement he offered her. She was strong, and brave, and much more powerful than anyone gave her credit for, herself included. It was these aspects of her character that permitted some form of authentic feelings to take root. She had gone through so much and hadn't given up. How did one not adore that?
"Don't be cross with Lex. She is always trying to save someone. She's been that way since we were children, it's in her nature. If you stand up to her she will back down, but she cares about you. We both do. And we both agree you are one of the strongest women we've met. You might not feel strong, but you are more powerful than you realize."

"It's alright Alek. I'm not really mad...well alright I'm pissed. Why aren't you?" she asked studying him.
"She practically accused you of being the big bad wolf. I'm insulted on your behalf, and mine considering I took the role of little red riding hood." she scoffed.

Alek laughed internally as Christine referred to him as the Big Bag Wolf. If only she knew. Alek was angry with his sister, but not as much as he should have been from Christine's point of view. He was furious that Lex would go off on him about Christine in front of her, making her feel used. Even if Alek had used her, Lex's approach would not have been the appropriate one.
"Believe me, Lex and I will be having a nice little chat," he said darkly. "But I'm used to her tantrums. I've had 24 years of them, this one is no different. She doesn't want me playing with her toys," he said with a laugh.

Christine gave him a look, not liking being referred to as a toy. In retrospect she understood Lex's anger considering Christine had been involved with Lex's partner, and now was seemingly involved with her brother. If anyone was playing with Lex's 'toys' it was Christine.
"Is it too early to day drink?"

"That depends on how accurately you want to read the clock."
He stood and walked the short distance across the room to where a small bar stood. The glasses that had been sitting on top were knocked onto their sides and one had fallen to the floor. Alek righted them and slid open the door, kneeling to look inside. "Bourbon?" he assumed.

She gave him an approving look, "You do know the way to a girl's heart."
She studied him from her seated position. Her attraction to him had grown, and in the harsh light of day his actions the night before sealed her trust in him. Had they gone further she would have regretted it. She would have regretted using him and she would have regretted acting out of pain and anger. She couldn't quite say that she would have regretted actually being with him however.
Sitting on the couch in his study felt more at home than her own home did.

Alek poured her a glass, leaving the bottle on the bar top in case one glass wasn't enough. He wouldn't judge her, not after the night she had apparently had. Alek was still angry about the men assaulting her without any of them being brought to justice. It was just one more item added to the list of reasons he hated his brother.
He returned to the sofa, handing her the drink before sitting next to her. It was his turn to study Christine as he considered his inaction last night. Alek was no stranger to intimate relationships but he wasn't known for keeping the same girl around very long. He had a bit reputation as a something of a playboy - on top of Lex's concerns that he was simply using Christine to get at Dorian, she would undoubtedly be concerned that if his intentions were more noble he would still end up hurting Christine. Alek was concerned with this as well.

"Do you travel at all Alek?" she asked after a period of silence and two generous sips of the drink he had handed her.
She didn't know how long their peaceful morning would last - even with Lex's disruption - but she was still in no mood to go home.

"Not as much as I'd like," he said honestly. His travels had been limited to wherever his father had seen fit to let him roam, which wasn't very far. After his father's disappearance Alek had ventured out, but only as far as was feasible to claim the land for his growing pack. He was smart about what he and his wolves could take and what was beyond their current abilities. He didn't overreach his grasp but his eyes were set on a very large prize.
"Mostly northern and central Europe," he continued. "Nothing to rival the girl who sailed with pirates."

She smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. "I think I've been land locked too long." she said honestly. The past year and change had been the longest she had stayed in one place since she was eleven and convinced her parents to let her go with her uncle. Portkeys, Floo, the ship, there were always ways to get back 'home', so she never felt disconnected from her family, but too much had happened in the past year, particularly in the past month, that now Christine itched to fly away.
She knew nothing of the empire he was building or the responsibilities of being king.

A year was far too long for a girl like Christine to be stuck in one place, even Alek who was new to her life could see that. He knew too that under constant supervision was no better than being in a prison, which was why he had always given her the space she needed when they were together. She didn't need a babysitter and she was old enough to decide when she wanted to move on.
"Where will you go this time?" Alek did not assume that she would stay when she wanted to go. She wasn't the type. His question wasn't a hypothetical one.

She didn't have the same confidence in her ability to do as she pleased; there were too many people telling her otherwise these days.
"You mean after I escape from Montgomery Penitentiary?" she asked with defeated sarcasm. She took another sip of her drink.

"You went out last night with your friends and no security in tow," he reminded her. "And you managed to make it here on your own, although you may want to consider an umbrella next time." He smirked at her.
"Honestly, love, you don't give yourself enough credit. If you want to run off, you are more than capable of doing so."
