She repeated the name several times in her head, trying to memorize the name as Julian led her into a seemingly closed restaurant. On the outside it appeared to be a very meager eatery, nothing impressive about the store front at all. But the inside was a different story. Warm reds and golds filled the room with rich wood furnishings.
When she realized he had reserved the whole place just for them her heart beat faster. "Julian!" she exclaimed happily. Had Lyra known of his hesitance earlier in the day, or his binge drinking, she would have been even more impressed with the lengths that he had gone through in less than a day just to make her happy.

It was easier being a man of both magic and wealth. Money talks and a lot of money sings and dances.
"Happy pet?" he asked with a simple grin. It was in these moments that the darker aspects of their relationship faded away. He was so good at making her happy, that he could believe they could make it through the bad. But if her disregard for life was any indication that the bad parts could indeed be very bad, his worries over their relationship weren't entirely unfounded.

"Like you even need to ask," she said with a laugh. She leaned over the table, her low cut dress revealing plenty, and kissed him. "You're amazing."
Lyra placed the blame for her melancholy on her relationship problems and, to a lesser degree, her still unresolved fears of being attacked which had only grown since the night before. But those were simply surface reasons for her frequent bouts of sadness which were easily washed away by the hope of having a real relationship with Julian and the excitement of being whisked halfway across the world by the literal man of her dreams. But the problem went much deeper than Lyra was aware of and no amount of affection from Julian or anyone else would be able to resolve it. Had Lyra known of this, she would have given up Julian the second she realized she had any sort of feelings for him at all. As it were, she had unknowingly sucked him into a darkness only a professional could help her get out of.

Julian didn't order, he had plates of each item on the menu brought to the table to sample whatever suited himself and his date. In a way he was making up for the pain he had caused her, in another way he enjoyed her little flirts and gasps of delight - particularly when she revealed plenty.
Conversation passed easily between them as it always had, their charms kept them on safe subjects. For all intents and purposes their date had so far been a success.

It was early still in Hollywood, but Lyra was on UK time and indulged in a martini with her meal. She maintained her graceful demeanor by sipping it slowly and only having the one. It was more than enough as Julian's thoughtfulness gave her a high that rivaled any substances available to her. Their date had been perfect and there was more to look forward to.
Lyra smiled. She knew that if she could just get Julian to give it a try, he would see how perfect they were for each other. All of their baggage could be left behind and they could move on together, happy. Lyra truly believed it was happening now.

Julian knew that these moments would come and go. Perfect moments weren't a relationship. Relationships were messy, hard, and required both parties to be at least somewhat stable. Julian knew he wasn't, and after the other night he realized neither was she. But they did love each other, so maybe that would be enough. Maybe in their perfect world.
After dinner he continued to show her the sights, the glitter and pzazz of Hollywood life. It was early and that allowed him to get away with more as he took her to the very famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and they were treated to a private showing.
Julian had looked over the movies that were currently available and preferred to show Lyra a classic, 'Casablanca'.

As Julian led her to a theatre she grew confused. He had promised her muggle art, but wizards were not a stranger to theatre. Lyra had been to many shows, none of which she would claim were "muggle art that moved" unless Julian was being smart with her in saying that the actors were muggles who moved on stage. But in place of a stage there was a large screen and Lyra's interest was piqued.
Initially she watched the screen with curiosity, asking Julian various versions of the same questions; how did they manage it without magic? and why didn't they seem to know she and Julian were there? Eventually she fell into the story, caught up in the drama and romance, and her questions faded into quiet awe. It was as if she were reading a book and the images in her mind had been forced out onto the screen and set to music. She loved it.

Julian answered her questions with patience and amusement as she became enraptured by the drama unfolding before them. Though they had just had dinner he completed the date with popcorn, candy, and a large soda.
When the lights came back on he was watching her face as she watched the final credits.

As the lights came on Lyra wiped away the few tears she had shed over the ill-fated lovers, her charmed makeup staying perfectly in place. She turned to Julian and gave him a silent look, a mixture of admiration and sadness.
Finally she spoke. "That was...amazing." She didn't know what else to say, not with words.

He wiped a tear away and caught her hand bringing it to his lips. She was so moved by the muggle art that it touched a place inside of him that had been drowning in doubt and pain since their ill fated passion many moons ago. She gave him hope. Hope that maybe they could make things work. Maybe his guilt and denial over the past could be healed through the promise of their future. Maybe her depression and anxiety could be cured through the promise of their happiness.
He was damned without hope, so for that moment he chose to believe.
"Let's go home." he said kissing her temple.

Lyra nodded and said a soft "alright" in agreement. She stood and collected her things, then walked out of the theatre with Julian's arm around her. It was bright outside, She had to shield her eyes as they stepped onto the street. She had completely forgotten how early it still was here, though the hour was growing late at home.

Julian walked with her through the streets for a little while picking up any souvenirs she might like. They could always return, he had told her noticing her wistfulness.
He took the long way home, well long for them. Once back on London soil he drove in the car that she seemed to take a fancy too. He promised to teach her to drive it one day.
When they arrived back in front of Lyra's door Julian smirked. He had one last surprise for her.

It took Lyra a while to find her voice after they left the theatre. She was still trying to process the experience she had just had, along with the emotions the film had triggered. But as Julian began pointing out trinkets and souvenirs she found her way back to the present and was once again chattering on and moving about excitedly.
She kissed him when he said they could come back again. She wanted to see more of everything. She wanted to explore and experience all of the things she had never been able to do before, without the confines of her parents' rules or nannies to monitor her actions.
The rush of the car ride back was exhilerating and as they neared her apartment her excitement only intensified. She felt the flood of adrenaline left over from the drive and as they stood in front of her door and Julian smirked in that handsome way only he could pull off, Lyra couldn't contain herself any longer. She pressed her body against his muscular frame and kissed him as if her life depended on it.

Her pent up desires matched his own, and the fire she started would burn brightly throughout the night. It threatened to consume them daily. He pushed her against the door before opening it and concealing further actions from view.
Once inside his final gift for her sat on the table. He had obtained a screen projector and had it charmed to conjure any movie she had an interest in, he had a list that he thought she would enjoy as well.
He didn't show her any of this however as he was still busy trying to get her out of her clothing.

Her handbag was dropped just inside the door and her shawl quickly followed suit. Lyra's fingers wouldn't unbutton his shirt fast enough and in an attempt to not delay a second of their reunion she pulled her wand from her pocket and almost instantly his shirt was open. She pulled it off him as Julian skillfully unzipped her dress which fell to the floor.
She was left in her heels and matching lace undergarments the same shade of red as the dress she had worn. Hoping for the evening to lead to where it currently had, Lyra had already concealed the scars on her thigh with a vanity charm. Julian would see only her perfect body and none of her pain.

As much as Julian could spend an eternity staring at the lovely perfection that was Lyra's body, he was too starved for her. He barely glanced at her before pulling her against him and sating the deep need they both had for one another. Later he would go slow and caress every inch, but for now he needed her with an animal like intensity.

It was the same kind of animalistic ferocity as their previous trysts, there a was great need and they eagerly fulfilled it with each other's bodies. It was hot and sweaty as they destroyed the illusion of a "first date" with intimate knowledge of one another's desires. Lyra was left panting for breath as she lie on the floor, her arm flung over Julian's chiseled abs.

He too was breathing heavily, his blood pounding through his veins as he laid tangled in a sweaty mess. It was a glorious conclusion to a beautiful day.
When he had the means and strength to get to his feet he lifted her high on his chest and took her to the bedroom.
He apologized for his earlier haste with a slower touch.

Lyra would spend all night with this man, letting him apologize for satisfying her. She made soft sounds of pleasure as Julian praised every inch of her body and left her skin tingling. She pulled him to her, wrapping herself around him as she too showed she had a softer touch.
Lyra found his eyes and held his gaze for as long as she could until the sensation became overwhelming. Her back arched as she gasped, his name escaping her lips in a moan. Her nails trailed across his skill as she tried to grasp firmly to anything that would ground her in that moment.

As far as young love was concerned it was the most intense moment Julian had ever experienced in his life. It blotted out every other emotion or memory he had until Lyra was all that was there.
He held on to that euphoria for as long as possible and continuously sought it out throughout the night, both driving the demons away and inviting them in.
It was the wee hours just before dawn that Julian finally fell to an exhausted slumber.
