Lyra spent the day in a euphoric haze. She had gone shopping for a new dress and had her hair done for her date with Julian later that night. Their first official date. She smiled to herself everytime she said the words in her head. Julian was taking her on a real date. They wouldn't just have hot, passionate sex then leave each other under awkward circumstances, though she was just as excited about their bodies reuniting again.
It was nearly seven but Lyra wasn't ready yet. She couldn't decide on which make up look she liked the best, the process was made infinitely easier to change her mind as Nicolas had supplied her with several charmed lipsticks that gave her a completed look with a quick application. Everytime she thought she found the perfect look she second guessed herself. What if Julian didn't like it?
She had to be perfect. Julian had to see that he wasn't making a mistake by being with Lyra.

Julian was prompt as ever. He knocked on the door at seven exactly. He had orchids. He wore a stylish button down, black slacks, and none of the indecision or conflict he felt in the hours since setting the date.
He had a little help. Similar to Lyra's confidence ring, Julian wore charmed jewelry that kept him calm and controlled, despite how badly he felt himself spiraling.
He spent most of the day drinking, but pulled himself together by the time for their date. He would get this right, he would do what he could. He wouldn't hurt her anymore.

Mimsy answered the door. Lyra had warned the house elf about Julian's arrival and pleaded with the elf to be polite. Having been present for most of Lyra's meltdowns in one way or another, it was safe to say Mimsy was not a fan of Julian. And yet as she opened the door and looked upon Julian, Mimsy tried her best to obey her mistress.
"Mistress Lyra will be out in a moment," the elf said in a rather flat tone. She left Julian in the entryway and notified Lyra that he had arrived.
Lyra finished her makeup and doublechecked her outfit in the mirror. She wore a tight red dress that accented her breasts. Her confidence and poise-inducing jewelry was firmly in place, as was the ring that she had agreed to always wear in order to help keep her safe. She knew she wouldn't need it as Julian would protect her if anything were to happen, but it matched.
She stepped into the room and as her eyes fell on Julian her smile widened.

Julian felt something drop low in his stomach when he saw his date for the evening. He was literally speechless. His mouth hung open, but thankfully there was no drool. Lyra was a beautiful woman naked and without any makeup, but in that dress and done up the way she was, there wasn't a man who could resist her.
"My God..."

Lyra's cheeks flushed pink at Julian's reaction. The 3 hours she had spent at the dress shop were clearly well worth her time.
"You like it?" she asked of her dress, playing coy.

He wanted to simultaneously rip it off of her and take her around town to show her off, it was a feeling he was becoming used to where she was concerned. He didn't spend time thinking that he had never felt that way about Belle. Lyra made him crazy. A single smirk could send him to hell and back, and the mischief in her eyes made his insides melt. He was completely under her spell.
"I think I like it a little too much." he said coming into the room fully.

She crossed the room purposefully and brought his lips to hers. She wrapped herself around him as they kissed passionately, then she pulled back and smirked at him. "I'll let you take it off later," she whispered seductively in his ear.
As she basked in the light of Julian's affections she caught sight of the flowers he had brought her. Her mischevious smirk faded into a smile of sincerity. "You spoil me." No truer words had ever been spoken.

He had once. Spoiled her left and right, and made sure everything in her world was perfect. He had 'rescued' her from her dire circumstances not once but twice, and he never gave thought about the reason he tried so hard to make her happy. It was instinctual, his happiness mirrored hers.
At her suggestive words Julian felt a jolt of lust run through him. Not fair.
"I'm glad you like them." he managed to say thanks to the charm he had.

What wasn't fair was all the times Julian had led her into thinking they were going to be something more than just amazing sex. Or the countless times she wondered if sex was all she was good for. Lyra was not a chaste woman, by even the loosest of definitions, but she had never truly felt used before. She hadn't really felt it with Julian either but there were moments during her meloncholy, just before the comfort set in following the pain that shot through her like a shooting star from the reopened scars on her thigh, there were small moments when Lyra had considered that Julian was only using her for a good time.
"They're perfect." she said of the flowers. He was perfect. Lyra inhaled their scent as she carried them into the kitchen and placed them in a vase with some water. There was a point when he had brought her flowers so often that she was concerned she'd run out of room for them. But just as her hopes for a real relationship with Julian had wilted and died, so too did the bouquets scattered around her flat. The bouquet she held now was like a beacon of hope.
She came back into the room and set the vase on the table next to the sofa. She picked up her handbag that was waiting for her on the sofa along with a black shawl that she wrapped around her, obstructing Julian's view of some of her more prominent curves.
"Is it silly that I'm so excited to see something muggles have made?" she asked as she took his arm and they headed for the door.

That childish excitement was what drew Julian in in the first place. She was so vibrant and full of life, he was drawn to her like a lodestone. He had given her hope now, but he dreaded the day that the pain returned to her eyes although he felt it was inevitable he would do everything he could to prevent it.
"You're perfect." he replied still a bit in awe of her.
"As for the movies, they really are quite entertaining. You'll see." he grinned offering her his arm.

Julian escorted Lyra out of the building and to a carriage he had waiting for them. The scene reminded Lyra of her first date with Mason, when he picked her up from her flat in his grand carriage taking her off to some surprise he'd planned for her. She remembered how excited she had been to be wooed by a man such as Mason. It was beyond flattering.
This was so much better.

In retrospect, while Julian never would have asked Lyra to meet him at his place, it would have been easier. Instead the carriage took them to a spot just outside of London where Julian had a classic Jaguar Roadster convertible waiting.
"Muggles aren't accustomed to flying carriages." He explained opening the door for her outside the carriage.

Lyra didn't know a thing about muggle cars, but she knew Julian would never take her out in some old piece of junk. She also knew sexy when she saw it and that was the word that sprung to mind when she laid eyes on the Jaguar. She slid gracefully onto the leather seat as Julian shut her door. There were so many knobs and dials, she didn't know what a single one did but each was trimmed in shiny silver chrome and set into a wood vaneered dashboard, they caught her eye and she stared in fascination.

Julian was not much of a muggle aficionado. He knew enough to enjoy the finer aspects: movies, cars, certain electronics that worked like magic. It was in fact Samantha that sparked his interest in the particular vehicle they were using. Her father was a car aficionado, then again with the resources the Montgomery family had, it was easy to collect many things. The Jaguar was Samantha's favorite, and it was the only one that sparked an interest when Julian decided to purchase his own. It may have dawned on him in the back of his mind that Samantha would not be too pleased with him using the vehicle to court Lyra. She was still angry with him over what she perceived to be his fault and his mess. She was right.
Now he had to clean it up. Fix things somehow, and save the woman he loved from meeting a similar fate as the woman he had lost.
They drove through some back roads and then it seemed as though the car and its occupants were being squeezed through a tube, much like apparating.
"Sorry that was longer than usual...we had quite a distance to make." he apologized. He figured if he was going to take Lyra to the movies, there was only one place he could take her. The way she looked - blond hair, red dress, red lips and a body built for sin - she would fit right in.
"Welcome to Hollywood."

Lyra didn't mind the travel. It was exhilarating being passenger as Julian whipped around corners and sped through the night. It was nearly like flying with the wind in their hair. As a regular mode of transportation it would have been quite tiresome to have to turn with every bend in the road and slow to keep the tires firmly against the pavement, but as a special treat Lyra loved it.
Suddenly they were not on the darkening London road, but in a brightly lit city Lyra had never been to before. Hollywood.
"We're in the states," she said excitedly. She looked around in awe, taking in all of the beauty around her. Giant palm trees lined the roads and every sign was trimmed in lights. Her head whisked around as tried to see everything at once.

It might have been a tad more authentic were they driving a Rolls Royce, but that he would have had to ask Sam for. Instead he delighted in the look of unfettered joy beaming from Lyra's face.
He drove slowly down the busy street so Lyra could look her fill at the attractive shops and stands.
"Want a closer look?" they had some time before his 'dinner' reservation.

The people walking down the street were an eclectic sort ranging from bohemian to businessman. They were all so pretty, it was unreal. Julian offered a closer look and she jumped at the opportunity.
"Definitely!"

He parked the car using a valet service as it was too nice of a vehicle to leave parked anywhere else.
Once out of sight he charmed her shoes as well as his own to handle the stretch of walking they were sure to do.
He offered her his arm and wore a casual smirk as he strolled with her down the busy street. They were a tad overdressed for the middle of the day among the tourists and locals. Tinsel town was not as glamorous as it had once been, but it only made others stare in admiration and jealousy which Julian knew Lyra would enjoy.

And enjoy it she did. Every stare was a compliment and it fed her ego leaving no need for the necklace she wore to give her confidence. She dragged Julian into various shops, excitedly pointing out muggle trinkets she had never seen or didn't understand how they worked. She was accustomed to the fashions sold in the shops they passed, now being part of the fashion industry herself, and she spared him from going into every high end dress shop they passed though she did pull him into a few and pointed out some of the more daring items. They passed a lingerie shop and Lyra kept walking by. "Wait until you see what I already have," she told him in a teasing voice.
As they continued walking large, red stars began to appear on the sidewalk. They had names marked on them in gold lettering, but Lyra didn't recognize any of the people. They were either important only in the US or to the muggles, perhaps both, but not to Lyra. Still, they were eye catching.
"What are these for?" she asked as they passed over a star labelled 'Fred Astaire' with a peculiar symbol below it that she didn't recognize.

"You'll see, but keep this one in mind." he said standing over Humphrey Bogart's star.
He continued to walk with her until they reached a restaurant: 'Musso and Frank's Grill'
They were 'closed'. Julian led her inside to a darkened atmosphere, romantic, candle light, not their traditional look, but close. A few things were altered to meet Lyra's standards and elegance, but the ambiance was on point. Julian had reserved the restaurant during their closed hours to have a special meal prepared for them.
