Horace is a man of leisure who likes to think himself more important than he perhaps really is. He likes the finer things in life--good food, good liquor, a comfortable chair and a warm robe. Given a choice, he would do nothing but bask in luxury, throwing lavish parties and inviting over all of his most important friends and former students. He can be lazy and cowardly at times, but that is only because he fears confrontation. He freely admits that he is not a fighter, although he is perfectly capable of it when he is properly motivated.
He is highly skilled in potions-making and he likes teaching, believing that he is molding young minds and leading them to greatness. He never aspired to be truly great himself, believing that the man behind the scenes, the man who helped inspire others to become great leaders in their field was, in a way, more important than actually being a leader. He could say he knew them all back when, and that it was his teaching that helped them to become what they are now.
He thinks very highly of himself because of all the powerful friends he has made, but does not like to take responsibility for his own mistakes. So when he does something wrong or trusts the wrong person, he tries to hide it and cover it up, rather than own up to it and try to atone for it.

Anything else? Technically, this doesn't count as a new character for me, since I've been unofficially playing him all along on Dumbledore's account. I'm just giving him his own account now and doing an official app.
