Burke followed Christian's lead and jumped up to where the man wanted him.
Diana was thinking fast. She needed to get close to Sanchez and she couldn't go through fifty guards. She cast a spell to cloak them from sight. Then dumped the five bodies that had accumulated on the ship.
She joined the men when she was done, "We can cover more ground if we split up." she suggested though she knew Christian wouldn't like that plan.

Christian turned and looked at Diana. She was right, but with the anti-disapparation jinx on the boat they would have a harder go of getting back to each other once one of them found Sanchez. "We can be overtaken if we split up," he countered. Who knew how many guards Sanchez had on this ship. By themselves they were easier targets, no matter how skilled they each were.
He turned his wand to the moon and muttered an incantation which amplified the moonlight around them. With Diana's cloaking charm they were invisible, but now the guards could be seen. "There," he pointed in the direction of a group of men who were running toward them, only 100 meters away. Just past them, in the opposite direction of where they were headed, was a door leading to the navigation deck. "We need to go there."

"Alright." she said giving Christian the lead though it went against every grain she possessed. She followed his hand and looked where he was indicating they should go. She nodded once.
"The charm will hold if we're still or if we move slow, but be prepared to be seen." she warned him. The spell was good, but there was still a faint outline that moved with them when they moved and it would be discernible to seasoned soldiers.

He nodded as a sign of understanding. It was more difficult moving slowly, Christian was used to long, self-assured strides. They were making progress. They were able to figure out where they were and had managed to get there safely, but they still had yet to actually find Sanchez and had no idea how many men had been hired to staff the ship. Christian wasn't one to count his eggs before they hatched.

Diana and Derek slithered alongside Christian toward their destination bypassing several guards. Diana found herself between both capable men and in another circumstance it would have amused her that they were being chivalrous at a time like this.
Diana was rather surprised that they managed to reach the door without drawing attention to themselves.
This was miles different than Hadelman's attack had been, they had the upper hand then, but there were dozens if not more guards on this ship. If they got to Sanchez and managed to take him out, what guarantee was there that they could make it off the ship alive?

Christian's thoughts mirrored Diana's. Once the head honcho was taken out, there was often no reason for the henchmen to hang around. Even the most loyal would turn tail. But this was no ordinary situation. These men were stuck on the ship. If Christian managed to take out Sanchez, his henchmen wouldn't fighting out of loyalty to their fallen employer, but out of necessity. Getting out in one piece would be a challenge. But as footsteps neared, Christian couldn't afford to think on their exit strategy.
They had just reached the door to the navigation deck when he heard them. Five guards were coming out onto the deck. Christian held his arm out, stopping Diana and shoving her up against the wall, his hand grazing her bare skin. He had almost forgotten that she was practically naked, his mind focused on Sanchez and his guards. He glanced at her, but quickly turned his attention to the yelling from the guards. They had been spotted.

"S**t." she cursed. Well it would give them something to tell their grandchildren, Diana wanted to joke.
Fight or flight kicked in and Diana was a fighter, there was only five of them. Five on three sounded like fair shake considering Diana had taken that many down in the time it took Christian and Derek to arrive. But then the yelling drew attention and there were more guards coming.
There was another joke about it being time to do what they did best, but they did a few things quite well.
There was no way they were getting out of this without fighting. Diana pulled her knife, close quarters made it more effective than her wand.
Derek on the other hand focused on protective charms. He was a damned good fighter, and skilled in his own right, but between a professional hit man and the coined "sinfully dangerous" Diana, he was going to focus on keeping them alive.
Suddenly the flashes of light started coming. He kept Diana safe and allowed Christian to do what he did best or at least better than most.

A red blast shot past Christian's head, only missing him because the caster had been knocked off balance by one of Derek's spells. Christian tried not to be grateful. He pointed his wand at one of the large crates behind the guards and sent the Expulso Curse at it. A bright blue beam burst from his wand and sped toward the crate, resulting in a loud explosion and wooden shards raining down over the men who had been thrown across the deck.
The five were joined by ten, and suddenly they were vastly outnumbered. Christian didn't even have time to admire Diana's skill as she tore apart guard after guard in her alluring outfit. He pointed his wand at a pair of guards headed his way. "Confrigo!" Orange fire shot at the men, blasting them into the air until gravity brought them crushing back down to the ground with a solid thud.

Derek was losing ground on the defensive, though he was keeping them at bay they kept coming at him, he switched to the offensive trusting Diana and Christian to take care of themselves while he cut down the guards on his side.
Diana wasn't tired. She was a machine. She moved almost gracefully plunging now warm steel into warm bodies. What she wouldn't have done for one of her own blades at the moment. She was also taught focus, she was intent in her mission and unlike the guards she wasn't distracted by the bright fire Christian was shooting at the men.
Unfortunately the knife she was using wasn't her own, and it was caught on a piece of bone. That slowed her down, she was now hand to hand against men with wands and she had no time to reach for her own.
A shot rang out, and Diana felt a searing pain rip through her shoulder.
"The next one goes through her head."
Diana put a fist to her shoulder, breathing heavily as she looked upward on the second deck where a sniper held her in his sights, there was a laser point that moved to her forehead for dramatic effect.

The sound of gunfire was shocking even amidst the explosions and the chaos. Christian turned in time to see Diana grabbing her bleeding shoulder and red mark travel to her head. Without stopping to think, he pointed his wand at Diana and pushed her to the side with a deep purple gust of wind just as another shot was fired. It missed and went into the deck. Christian turned and quickly scanned for the marksman.
"Avada Kedav-" Christian was thrown to the ground by one of the brute guards. The beefy man raised his fist and meant to smash Christian's face in when Christian jabbed his wand against the man's gut and muttered the incantation for the Slashing Curse. The man screamed in pain and fell off Christian as large gashes appeared on his stomach, spilling a crimson liquid.

Diana felt herself thrown to the side milliseconds before the shot rang out. The gun fired at her again, and a third time, but she took cover in the shadows.
Derek was just a hare slower to react than Christian was to Diana's situation "Avada Kedavra!" he finished the spell and the sniper fell.
It was a short reprieve for Diana as someone came from behind her and wrapped beefy tree trunk arms around her and squeezed. Diana gasped for air as she felt a rib crack.
With all remaining strength she kicked backward, and shifted in the man's grasp further injuring her rib as she reached for her wand and was able to curse him off of her. Diana stumbled then, the bodies were piling up, but they just kept on coming.

Christian pulled himself to his feet as he saw more men joining the battle. They were due to be overtaken in moments. Christian turned and blasted the crates between himself and the door, sending three men flying through the air in opposing directions. He grabbed Diana by the wrist and called for Burke as he rushed to the door. Another flash of green light and the last man between themselves and the interior of the ship fell to the floor. He pulled Diana inside roughly and held the door until Burke had passed by, killing two more men that were on Derek's heel. As soon as Derek was over the threshold Christian pulled the door shut and locked it. ?He conjured several steel beams and blocked the door further.
"It won't hold forever," he said, catching his breath.

Diana was breathless and being jostled by Christian was excruciating, the adrenaline was wearing off and the pain was coming in waves. She felt sick. She kept telling herself that she had been through worse, but the pain was cresting over the edges of her calm.
"There's so many of them." she said still panting and trying to get air through short gasps so she didn't irritate her rib further. "I don't understand, Sanchez wouldn't have this kind of artillery on board. This is an army." she made a face then that let on to how much pain she was in.
Diana wasn't wearing hardly anything, it was amazing that her barely there lingerie was still in one place, but Derek could see clean as day the red and purple angry bruising near her side, as well as the way she carried herself told him she was hurt.
"We're going to have to set that rib Diana." he said focusing on the task at hand, "And you're hemorrhaging." he said looking at her shoulder.
"So do it, and be quick."
"We should take the the jinx off and get her the hell out of here."
"I'm fine." she argued, "Set the rib. Plug the hole. And let's keep moving. We need to get to Sanchez, then we can get out of here."
Derek looked at Christian, giving him a similar look as Diana had given him earlier, as if he were seeking another opinion.
She used her free hand to slap him, "Don't you f*cking dare." she blazed looking between them both, "We don't have time for this."

"We're already here," he said sternly. "Fix her up, then we press on." Outwardly he confident and sure of their abilities. But internally Christian was kicking himself for going along with this fool's errand Diana called a plan.
"Here," he said reaching inside his pocket for a vial of pain killer, but all he pulled out was a handful of wet glass shards. The vial had broken when the guard knocked him to the ground. "F*ck." He looked to Diana apologetically.

Derek put his hands up in a gesture of giving up. They had no pain killers. Derek muttered the incarcerous spell which caused ropes to shoot out from his wand, he caught one and told her to bite down. He was quick about setting her rib, and didn't hesitate to bind her shoulder using another spell.
It was enough to make Diana cry out as well as curse on a few sobs at the pain. Diana's breathing was in short gasps now. She needed a minute to lock away the pain before getting to her feet.
"Let's finish this."

As Diana struggled with the pain Christian walked past them and looked down the corridor. It was empty. As Diana screamed, Christian thought again to their conversation from that morning. She was so intent on doing things her way, and insistent that because it worked it was clearly the way to go about things. But here she was, screaming on the floor of a cargo ship, dressed as a whore, with a dozen men trying to tear down the door. When we get out of here, we're having a talk about this, he thought, watching a tear slide down her cheek. He would need to retrain two years of savagery so this didn't happen again.
Diana stood and Christian didn't question her. They were close, it would be over soon. And when they were safe Christian would worry about her. But now he had a job to do. Sanchez took priority. The trio headed down the corridor moving further into the belly of the ship.

Savagery and desperation. Diana didn't have the patience to miss an opening and hope for another one down the line. She needed to finish this, it had already taken so much from her. She didn't think that her way was better than his way, but sometimes she only saw things her way.
Diana moved with them doing her best not to whimper, while Derek had set her rib, the fact that she was walking and jostling around would mean that it would have to be reset later. Truthfully were they muggles Diana would in all likely have permanent damage done and difficulty breathing for the rest of her life, but magic was a beautiful thing.
They walked along the now empty corridors and Diana felt a chill, which was impressive to feel anything over the pain. Why were the hallways empty? It was improbable that everyone was above deck. What was going on?
Derek was busy setting up barricades as they walked along preventing anyone from coming at them from behind. Once they got to Sanchez they could hopefully apparate back to safety so the barricades wouldn't be an issue. But soon Derek also noticed the empty path ahead of them.
"The main room should be just ahead, but..." Diana said pausing in her steps, it felt like a trap.

Christian was uneasy. This was too simple, where were the henchmen? He walked cautiously, leading the group down the poorly lit hall with Burke bringing up the rear. He saw Diana stop from the corner of his eye, but it was already too late.

There was a flash of green behind the door where they were headed then the sound of glass breaking.
Diana looked at her companions before pressing forward to catch a glimpse of a masked shadow just as the figure jumped from the ledge into the night.
There on the floor laid Sanchez beaten and bloody, eyes wide, clearly deceased.
Diana's gut reaction was that she felt cheated, no one wanted Sanchez gone more than Diana so who was the masked figure? Friend or Foe?

Christian's brow furrowed as the masked killer jumped from the window. He ran to the window but the killer was gone, swallowed by the darkness. He turned slowly, his eyes shifting from Diana to Sanchez's corpse to Derek. Instantly the anti-climactic scene set on him and he furious.
"All that trouble! All that f*cking trouble, and for what? Just have you ripped apart?!" He was yelling at Diana, as if this had been her plan all along. He knew she was just as stunned as he was. And they weren't out of woods yet.
