Aleksandra "Lex" EiriksenLex had blown off their meetings too often as of late, and Alek wasn't pleased. They had plans to meet for dinner last Thursday, but once again Lex was no where to be found. The twins were protective over each other, and Alek knew it was his duty as her brother and leader of their pack to ensure Lex was safe and hadn't forgotten where her loyalties lie. He had sent one of his men to follow her as she left their familial estate. The report he received that evening was so enraging that Alek had grabbed the vase that their mother had lovingly kept on the mantle and smashed it on the brick hearth. Lex had been with Dorian Humbert - their half-brother and root of the abuse Alek had taken from their father. Four years ago, upon the discovery that the twins had another sibling, Alek ordered Lex to forget about their supposed brother. It would bring nothing good to their family. Clearly, his warning fell on deaf ears. This wouldn't stand. He sat in the family room, waiting for Lex to return home that evening. His eyes were fixed on the entryway. He would wait all night if he had to. This was going to stop.

Lex knew it was pointless to sneak into the estate, wolf ears could hear for miles, but she still attempted to silence her movements as she came in through the door. She didn't notice Alek at first, but she felt him when she looked up he was there and she could tell from his expression he was not the least bit pleased.
"Alek! You startled me." she said truthfully as her heart began to race.

He could smell her as she approached their home, and he heard every muted footstep as she came closer. Alek's eyes narrowed as she came into the room. "I suppose it is startling to find someone where you don't expect them," he replied darkly. "Did you have a nice day at work, sister dear?" His voice was riddled insinuation.

Lex had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach as Alek spoke. They were twins and quite used to reading one another, but by the way Alek spoke Lex didn't have to be his twin to realize he was angry. She trembled slightly. Alek loved her, he would never physically hurt her, but he was capable of hurting her in other ways, most of all she feared hurting him. Their father had practically tortured Alek since birth, making him pay for their mother's sins. Lex was the only soft part of Alek and she was afraid that if her brother pushed her away he'd become the monster their father had made him.
"What's a matter with you?" she asked quickly.

"I received some unwelcome news today," he answered, his eyes fixed on her. "It seems someone can't follow simple instructions."
There was no reason for Lex or Alek to have anything to do with their half brother. Dorian was only related to them on their father's side, and their father was a miserable bastard who went to great lengths to destroy Alek from the moment Alek was born. They had only been free of the senior Eiriksen a few years. What good would bringing round more of that sort do for them now?

Lex closed her eyes and sighed, then set her purse and belongings down.
"So you know." she said almost defeated, but then she thrust her chin out that infamous Eiriksen pride coming through, "Good I'm glad you know. I'm glad it's out in the open. And while you may run this pack need I remind you yet again that I am not a part of it? You can't just order me around like you do them. I'm your sister not your lackey."

Alek's body shook with rage at her insolence and smugness. "Pack or not, I am head of this family now and you will do as I say! You have obligations as an Eiriksen, and defying me will reap dire consequences." He had his father's temper. He would sometimes feel remorseful later, but in the moment Alek was nothing but fire and fury.

Lex had her own temper. She had learned from both her mother and father. Blue veins became more prominent as he yelled at her and her hands heated. She had never hurled firebolts like her mother, or fully transformed into a harpy like her mother, but if she had ever been close it was just then. The minute Alek yelled at her the way their father yelled at him.
She feared their father because of what he did to Alek, Lex feared angering him because he would take it out on Alek, but she didn't have the same fear of Alek.
"Oh? Are you going to order me about like he did? Beat me like he beat you?! Tell me Alek what are these dire consequences?!" she yelled at him, matching his fury and stepping toward him, "He's our brother Alek! You have no right to keep me from him!"

Alek emitted a low growl as Lex compared him to their father. His lips curled into a snarl. "I'm your brother, not him! He's nothing but a parentless bastard! You would choose him over me?" His voice was low, threatening.

"I am not choosing him over you!" she yelled at him not intimidated, though she should have been, she was too furious to think properly.
She was angry, she had been angry when Alek forbid her to see her brother in the first place. In hindsight she should have stood her ground instead of going around his back, but she knew it was a pointless argument. She didn't feel as though she had to justify finding their older brother, but Alek was far more damaged than she was.

"I told you not to search for him and you deliberately disobeyed me! He will tear apart this pack. I will not allow you to ruin everything I have earned!" He inched closer to her, his hands clenched into fists which shook with rage. Dorian Humbert was everything Alek hated, because he was everything Alek was not. Their father constantly compared Alek to his supposed dead son. With every beating the young werepup received, he was reminded of how he was a failure. Too weak. Too small. Too scared.
But Alek wasn't a child anymore and he was no longer scared. He had taken over the pack and lead with force. He was in charge, and he would be damned if he was going to let their half-brother take it from him.

"I have a right to know him Alek. No matter what you order me to do. And I'm a grown woman! I don't need your permission to do anything.Believe it or not brother, he doesn't care about this pack, or being pack leader!" she was frustrated, but losing steam. She knew where Alek's insecurities laid, and he was acting out of those insecurities.
"He's got his own life, his own goals, none of which include stealing your precious pack away from you."

Alek wholeheartedly believed that the only reason Dorian didn't want the pack was because he didn't know about it. Once the wolf was out of the bag, big brother would come marching in to take his birthright. That would have been what their father wanted. With every fist, Alek was reminded that his father's first-born would have been a great leader. With each kick, he reprimanded for not being as brave and strong as his father's first-born would have been. Whenever Alek made a mistake, his father spat at him and chastised him, telling him that he would never rule the Eiriksen pack as his first-born had been destined to do. No, Alek believed it was only a matter of time before Dorian came for him and Alek intended to protect his pack and his place with his life.
His voice was calm again as he spoke. "You want to know him? Well, fine. Go. I wonder what he will think of you when he finds out you've been stalking him for years, using your powers to gain access to a high security position at the Ministry. I'm sure the noble Dorian Humbert will eagerly embrace his new sister and her law-abiding ways."

She raised an eyebrow, two could play that game, "You wouldn't do that Alek, because we both know that you think he's after the pack, and if you ratted on me it's only a matter of time before he'd learn about you and the pack." she raised her chin a notch.
It was a hollow threat, Lex would never do anything to hurt her twin, but she wasn't going to give up learning about her other brother without a fight.

Alek smiled. "But he has his own life, and his own goals. Remember, sister?" His head dipped lower and his eyes narrowed. Alek would fight if he needed to. He wasn't against taking a life, if it came to it.

"Just leave it be Alek. You may have decided to disregard him, but I haven't. He's our brother, I just want to know him. Father is...well he's gone. The pack is yours. What are you scared of?"
She didn't want to hurt Alek, she wished he wanted to meet Dorian too, but she knew that would never happen.

Too often had their father had accused him of being scared. Alek learned to associate the word with hatred. "I'm not scared of anything!" he roared at her. His fists were clenched yet again and he snarled at his twin.

She flinched when he yelled at her. The steam had gone out of her sails.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you Alek. I'm not going to stop seeing him. I'm helping him, we're on a case right now, there's a girl, Christine. We've been protecting her from a serial Killer. It's important Alek."
She reasoned, not realizing that she had given him important information.
"Please, Alek. I don't want to be at odds with you."

Alek averted his eyes and fumed silently to himself. He didn't want to fight with her either. But he didn't trust Dorian and that made him dangerous.
"Does he know who you are?" he asked without looking at her.

"No." she answered, "And I don't intend to tell him." yet she added silently.
Sensing that Alek might be calming down she approached him.
"I would never put you or the pack in danger Alek. I swear he's not a threat to you."
