It had been awhile it seemed since Daphne found out Heather's 'secret'. Daphne didn't know what to think. After all, the girls had been friends since they first started school. They told everything to each other, except this one thing. Daphne became confused and needed a little while to clear her head. It was just something that she had to wrap her head around.
Daphne sent in a few applications for a healer position at St. Mungos, hoping she would get a job. After sending the application, she sent a letter to Heather. It seemed time to finally go out for coffee with the woman she still considered her best friend.
Dear Heather,
Would you care to meet for a cup of coffee? We could meet around 9:30am at the coffee shop we always went to in London.
See you soon, Daphne
The day for coffee came around, Daphne arrived at the coffee shop a little earlier than 9:30. She hoped that Heather would be there.

Heather had been busy almost constantly since practice had started for the team. The first game of the season was coming up next week, and the coach had them practicing almost constantly. Luckily, they had an afternoon exhibition game scheduled for the day Daphne wanted to meet for coffee, so she was free that morning.
Heather hadn't really had the time to even think about what had happened, when her secret had been revealed. Daphne had been so stunned by the news that they hadn't really even been able to talk about it. Heather had feared that they would lose touch, and she would never know what Daphne really thought about it. Her worst fears seemed to have been realized when Daphne didn't contact her for several months. She had almost given up, in fact, until she received the owl from Daphne.
She got ready, dressing in simple bell bottom jeans and flowery top, then went down to Joe's to meet Daphne. She spotted her friend right away, standing at the front of the shop, waiting for her.
"Hey, Daph," she said, trying to sound casual. "How are you doing?"

As Heather arrived, Daphne smiled. She didn't feel awkward or any different toward her best friend. "Hey Heather," Daphne replied with a smile. "I'm doing well. How about yourself? How's quidditch going?" At first it seemed that nothing had changed except for the fact that they had not seen each other months. Daphne felt awful for not seeing her friend for so long. Naturally other things such as training and finding a job as a healer seemed to take up a lot of Daphne's time. However, this should not have really been an excuse as to how long it had been.
Opening the door to the coffee shop, she stepped aside so that Heather could step in.

Heather wished she could feel differently. It would have been so much easier if she was just like anyone else, and liked boys. Or at least if she wasn’t in love with her straight best friend. Daphne didn’t know about that part, of course, but now that her secret was revealed, Heather knew that their relationship had changed. They almost felt like polite strangers now, or at best, distant acquaintances.
Still, she smiled at Daphne, trying to make things seem normal. “Quidditch is going pretty well,” she said. “The girls on the team are all really nice, and we seem to be playing well together. Our first game is this week… I hope you’ll be able to come and watch?”
She followed Daphne into the coffee shop and straight to a booth. “How about you? Have you started healer training yet?”
