It wasn't that unusual for Wyatt to be sitting at the Slytherin table, surrounded by his classmates. It wasn't even that unusual for him to have a pretty girl at his side, hanging all over him. It was somewhat unusual, however, for him to be bored by that girl and the company around him.
Harmony Lippre was gorgeous, no question. But she was vacant. It wasn't even that the girl was dumb... Wyatt suspected that there really was a brain underneath all that hair and makeup. She just couldn't be bothered to put it to any use that did not directly concern or benefit herself. Unlike some of the brainless Slytherin girls, he was quite certain that Harmony knew what a book was and what it was used for. She simply didn't care. And that kind of willful disdain of knowledge and failure to better oneself was something Wyatt couldn't tolerate.
And yet, he allowed her attentions, simply because he knew perfectly well that the fickle blonde would move onto someone else tomorrow and he'd be forgotten. And he might as well enjoy all she did have to offer while he had the chance.
At the moment, Harmony was flirting quite shamelessly with him, her long lashes blinking up at him, framing her large blue eyes. He didn't know what her game was, but he found he was rather interested to find out... if only to distract him from scanning the Ravenclaw table for a very different blonde... one who not only had a brain, but knew how to use it.

There was nothing unusual about Arabelle sitting at the Ravenclaw table with her nose buried in a book. However, in the last twenty minutes she had managed to read the same line about thirty times and that was very unusual for her. Lately her mind has been preoccupied with thoughts of the library, books, and a certain boy. It was harder to shake him and his kiss than she thought it would be. She tried one more time to let the words sink in and she managed to get to the next sentence before she was sighing in frustration and letting the open book fall back on to the table.
Once her eyes finally left the pages of her book she found herself glancing along the Slytherin table. She knew it was unlikely that his mind was still stuck on her but she couldn't help searching for him anyway. She brushed her long locks out of her eyes as she spotted him sitting at the Slytherin table but her breathe caught in her throat as she watched some beautiful blonde girl leaning all over him. She felt her face heat up and this time it wasn't from being embarrassed.
She sat there dumbstruck as to why it made her so angry but she found herself wanting to hex them both. There she was with her book, her messy locks and no makeup on so compared to the blonde attached to his side she was falling a bit short. Finally managing to find her breath she forced herself to break eye contact with the pair and look back to her book. She knew he was going to find another girl in a matter of days so why did it bother her so much? It is not like they promised each other anything. It was just a kiss. That’s all. She crossed her arms resting them on the table as she glanced in their direction again. One small hex wouldn't put her in too much trouble would it?
She watched the pretty blonde flirting mercilessly with him and she narrowed her eyes. Yes, one hex should do it.

If Harmony knew just how much the random Ravenclaw girl was bothered by her display with Wyatt, she would have carried on even worse than she was now. Wyatt was cute and all, but he really posed no challenge for Harmony. All the Slytherin girls liked him already, and since his idea of flirting with a girl was to take her to the library, Harmony wasn't really all that interested.
She was actually flirting with Wyatt for a different reason. There was a certain boy she'd had her eye on for quite a while, and she was hoping to make him jealous. The fact that he hadn't looked up from his book yet was highly irksome to her, and she responded by carrying on louder and louder by the minute. Surely he'd have to look up at some point, right?
"You're so funny, Wyatt!" she gushed, as he told another joke that she didn't understand. She took a chip from the plate of fish and chips he had in front of him and took a bite of one end, then held the other end out for him to bite. "You know, I hear you're really good in Potions... maybe we could study together."

Arabelle was having a problem handling seeing them together more than she had anticipated she would. She knew it was going to bother her but she wanted to get up and yank her out of his lap. That was a new feeling for her. She liked him. A lot more than she was willing to admit to herself and defiantly more than she was willing to say to him. Setting that aside she was not much competition for the pretty girl next to him. She was terribly at flirting, she was clumsy, and had no experience with boys. Well, outside of him of course.
Rolling her eyes as she heard the girl mention the two of them studying together as if they would actually be studying. That would mean she knew where to find books. “Oh, please. “She mumbled a little louder than she intended to. Her housemates that were sitting near her were now glancing in her direction and she gave them an apologetic smile as her cheeks turned red. She turned her head back down towards the pages of the book but her eyes moved to see if Wyatt was going to take a bite of what was being dangled in front of him and not just of the chip.
Her eyes locked on them both and she narrowed her eyes.“You know some of us are actually trying to eat without gagging.” Of course she had nothing but a stack of books in front of her but the words fell out of her mouth before she could stop them. Noticing everyone was now looking at her and she realized that might have come out a bit louder than she had intended.

Although the girl's outburst was quite loud, Harmony probably would never have even noticed it under normal circumstances. She usually only paid attention to the things that interested her, and Ravenclaw girls were just about as interesting to Harmony as a test in History of Magic. Especially if they didn't pose any threat to the blonde in any way. On any other day, Arabelle could have jumped on top of the table and performed a rousing rendition of the school song complete with dance moves and Harmony wouldn't have even spared her a second glance.
But as it happened, the boy whose attention Harmony was attempting to catch just happened to be within sightline of the Ravenclaw girl. And if the boy had been looking up at her, as he was supposed to be doing, instead of sitting bent forward over his book, he would have completely obscured the view for Harmony.
But he wasn't looking at her. He was sitting with his nose in a book, and when Harmony glanced his way to see if her latest remarks to Wyatt had managed to get his attention, all she saw was a Ravenclaw girl, glaring hatefully in her direction and babbling about gagging or something.
Harmony narrowed her eyes at the Ravenclaw, a slow smirk spreading across her pretty features. "Oh, look, Wyatt," she said. "That mousy little Raven-nerd seems to have a problem with us. What do you suppose her problem is?"

Unlike Harmony, Wyatt had noticed Arabelle. He had been careful not to look directly at her, because he was sure that his face would give him away. Really, Harmony was kind of a ridiculous girl and he found it rather hard not to laugh at her. She was a beautiful idiot, and he was already beginning to get weary of her advances, which he was pretty sure had absolutely nothing to do with him. It was fairly well known at this point that Harmony had been trying to attract the attention of one Bartemius Crouch Jr, who so far seemed far too busy with his books to pay any attention to her.
However, when Arabelle had her outburst, he turned his gaze to her at last. But instead of smiling at her, he found himself smirking.
"Yes... we've met before," he told Harmony vaguely, not tearing his eyes away from Arabelle.

Having an outburst of jealousy like that was not something Arabelle would have normally done. She has never even been interested in a boy before so she had never had to get jealous over anyone. The fact is girls like that never bothered her because they have never had anything she has wanted before. She was jealous of the Slytherin girl, who was now looking in her direction, not because she wanted to be anything like her but because she had a horrible feeling that is the type of girls Wyatt was attracted to. Their kiss was most likely a fluke that would never happen again. Once she heard the girl calling her mousy she reached her into her bag and clutched her wand tightly in her hand. There were a number of different hexes she would like to do to that girl. She had picked up a few from her brother over the years but instead she reluctantly let go of her wand leaving it in her bag despite her feelings in the moment.
Her wide innocent eyes met Wyatt’s gaze for what felt like the longest minute in history. She could feel the familiar heat creeping up onto her cheeks. How did he manage to do that to her without saying one word to her? She looked down back to her book and was praying that the Slytherin girl did not notice the flush on her cheeks. She has always had a hard time hiding her emotions on her face and she was not hiding them so well at that moment.
All of a sudden she got the sinking feeling that she was foolish for letting him kiss her. What could he possibly like in her?

Harmony saw the girl's furious glare and the way her cheeks flushed red. Glancing between the girl and Wyatt, she took note of the smirk on Wyatt's face, along with the way he didn't seem to want to take his eyes off of her, and she raised her eyebrows suspiciously.
"Ohhhh... I get it," she said loudly. "So she must be one of your little library girls. You must have been slumming it, hanging out with a mousy little thing like that. And a Ravenclaw... really, Wyatt. How far did you get with the little tramp? Second base? Third base?"
Of course, the mere idea of Harmony calling anyone a "little tramp" was quite absurd. Anyone who knew Harmony knew that she could easily have been talking about herself, except for the library part. Harmony had never willingly set foot in the library.

Arabelle had her nose tucked back into her book but she was not reading one word on the pages in front of her. She was listening to every word that was coming out of that little blonde tart in front of her. Normally, Arabelle did not get this upset about a boy or some girl who she was pretty sure barely knew how to read. This was different though. She liked that boy despite everything in her telling her not to.
Being called ‘one of his library girls’ made her begin to feel a bit stupid. It was like a big flashing neon sign to remind her that she was nothing special and he did this with almost every girl. She was just another one to add to his list. However, being called a tramp pushed those feelings to the side and brought her angry rushing back.
Closing her book with a sharp snap she looked up at them both and gave a soft laugh before her eyes settled on her. “Are you calling me a tramp?” She stressed each word as if she was trying to understand what had just come out of her mouth. “You do realize that less than five minutes ago you were practically on his lap trying to get his attention?”

Harmony's eyes were now fully focused on the Ravenclaw girl. Wyatt and the other boy were now both completely forgotten (since Harmony wasn't really capable of thinking about too many things at once). She was completely appalled that this nothing little Ravenclaw would dare to speak to her like that. Weren't Ravenclaws usually shy and brainy little things with their heads stuck in books? That was clearly where this one belonged, but apparently she had other ideas.
"Excuse me?" Harmony said, staring at the girl. "And just what are you implying? Wyatt and I were just talking, weren't we, Wyatt? I'm not the one who went to the library with him... as if I would. You know he uses that line on lots of girls, right? What did he promise you?"

Once Arabelle had harmony’s full attention she was suddenly feeling very out of her element. She did not do well with confrontation unless it was with her mother of course and she was now wishing she could sink back into her book. However, there was no way to avoid her little outburst expect for head on.
“He did not promise me anything…”her voice sounded less certain than it had before and as soon as the words left her lips she realized what she had said. He did not promise her anything. She was getting all worked up over a boy she barely knew and one stupid kiss that was likely to never happen again. Taking a deep breath she looked down at the knotted fingers in her lap. If she could sink under the table from her own stupidity she would.

Harmony let out a loud, harsh laugh, which sounded a lot like an overexaggerated witch's cackle. She peered over at the girl, then cast a look around at the other students who had now started to watch their little exchange with interest.
"Of course he didn't make any promises. Why would he, a mousy little thing like you? Wyatt is a Slytherin, and he obviously has more sense to get too involved with a lowly little Ravenclaw like yourself. Why don't you do yourself a favor and go back to your little books where you belong. Just pretend you never even met him, because that's how much of a chance you have with him."

OK, this was getting out of control. At first Wyatt had been content enough to let this play out. He fully expected Harmony to get bored with all of this and go back to reading her beauty magazines--or rather, looking at the pictures, since she wasn't really smart enough to bother reading the words. But he had underestimated Harmony's mean streak. He'd heard her say things that sounded mean before, but usually the girl played it off as something inadvertent, that she simply didn't know any better. But Wyatt suddenly suspected that Harmony most certainly did know better; she simply didn't care who she hurt.
And as much as any guy couldn't help enjoying it as two girls fought over him, Wyatt was beginning to suspect that this was on the verge of turning physical. He'd heard that girl fights were vicious, even worse than fights between two guys. And something told him that Harmony, despite her small frame, was the type who would go for the jugular.
"Harmony, knock it off," he said. "I don't need you to speak for me. And stop hanging all over me, anyway."
He shot an apologetic look in Arabelle's direction, but didn't linger too long.

Normally Arabelle would never get into a confrontation that like. Especially one that was so public but she was not going to let some little girl call her a tramp! After all until she met Wyatt she had never even held a boys hand let alone kissed a boy. Did her trip to the library with Wyatt mean everyone was thinking she was a tramp? Shaking that thought out of her head she slowly looked around at the faces of everyone with their eyes now glued to the public cat fight that just took place. If she could she would crawl under the table and never come out. She had always hated all eyes being on her and of course everyone in school would be talking about their little spat. There was no way she was going to be able to forget it like she desperately wanted to.
Glancing up to meet Wyatt's apologetic glare she just shrugged at him and she dropped her gaze back to her book. He could do whatever he wanted with whoever and she certainly did not need him fighting her battles for her. Knowing she was just being stubborn and prideful it was probably a good idea if she headed back to her common room where she could die of embarrassment in private.
She grabbed her books and started to pile them into her bag and was doing her best to ignore the both of them. She was hoping she could sneak out while they were wrapped up in each other.

Harmony was a bit outraged at being spoken to in such a way by Wyatt, but she decided to play dumb and act as though she didn’t understand him. After all, she thought, he couldn’t actually be serious. How could he possibly prefer that plain, mousy little thing over her? He didn’t even say that he did exactly. Surely he was just trying to avoid a scene or something. Harmony seemed to remember some strange little scandal that had happened at that stupid summer camp she’d been forced to attend. Something about a seventh year Slytherin going out with a Ravenclaw and a Gryffindor behind each other’s backs or something. Maybe he was just trying to avoid another incident like that.
She didn’t move from her current position, and cast another annoyed look over at Bartemius Crouch, who still hadn’t even glanced up. Ugh, seriously? What did she have to do to get that guy’s attention already? Maybe if she actually fought with the Ravenclaw girl…
And then suddenly the Ravenclaw was getting up to leave. Oh, no, this wouldn’t do. Not at all. Harmony was having too much fun.
She giggled loudly, covering her mouth in a coy, fake sort of way (that was obviously intended to draw attention to her perfectly red, glossy lips.
“Oh, look, Mousy girl’s leaving. I think we hurt her widdle feelings. Where are you going, Ravenclaw? Let me guess… library? Going to relive your little moment with Wyatt?”

Wyatt couldn’t quite understand why her cared about any of this. He was the first to admit that he could be pretty selfish most of the time. This was because so few people lived up to his own standards, and he often got annoyed with other people. He preferred to be the center of attention, to show off his knowledge and intellect. So few Slytherins were really intelligent at all, and most Ravenclaws were sticklers for rules. But there was something about Arabelle that intrigued him. Harmony, on the other hand was as annoying as she was hot. She had no value for intelligence or knowledge or learning, and Wyatt was pretty sure that her future goal was to marry a pureblood and be a trophy wife. He was rapidly losing patience with her.
So when Arabelle got up to leave and Harmony started giggling and babbling in her high-pitched voice, Wyatt suddenly got to his feet, unceremoniously dumping Harmony from his lap.
“Arabelle… wait.”

Mousy? Oh, Harmony was about to regret calling her mousy. The sound of that little blonde twit’s voice was really making Arabelle’s hair stand on end. It was even worse when it was directed at her and was quickly killing any patience she had left. Taking a deep breath she did her best to push her annoying high pitched voice out of her head as she forced her bag onto her shoulder. She knew if she got into a fight with Harmony again it would end with Harmony being turned into a mouse. Grinning as the thought of Harmony the mouse drifting into her brain she stood up and headed towards the door.
Once she heard her name leave Wyatt’s lip it made her stop dead in her tracks. What did he want now? She turned slightly so she could glance back at them both and a slow smile spread across her face once she noticed that he had dumped Harmony from his lap. Glancing up at Wyatt, who was now standing, she locked eyes with him. Arabelle could feel her heart pounding against her chest and her legs turning to jelly. How did he do that to her? All he said was her name and there was two tables between them!
“W-What Wyatt?” It was all she could manage to get out while his eyes were on her. She was trying to make it look like she had it together around him but she was failing miserably.

Harmony couldn't believe this was happening. She had just been unceremoniously dumped on the floor by Wyatt so that he could chase after some annoying Ravenclaw girl. Clearly Wyatt was blind or at least not as smart as he seemed so fond of telling everyone he was. As if that was supposed to be a good thing. As cute as he was, he didn't really need to have brains, and it was honestly better if he didn't. It might cause a guy to do weird things like chase after brainy girls who weren't really even that pretty instead of staying with girls like Harmony.
"Wyatt!" she shrieked, getting to her feet and brushing herself off. Ugh. Now there was probably dust on her black uniform. "How dare you dump me like that? You're going to be sorry for this, you know. No one dumps me!"

Wyatt completely ignored Harmony and her childish rantings. She had never really been interested in him in the first place; she was just trying to make someone else jealous. And he didn't really have any interest in being part of her silly little games. He certainly wasn't afraid of her pathetic threats. For Salazar's sake, the girl was so dumb that she was supposedly failing remedial potions! He was more than confident that he could thwart any attempts at "revenge" from her.
He crossed the room and walked over to her, noticing with a smile how she seemed rooted to the spot. She was stammering over her words, and Wyatt found her completely adorable.
When he reached her, he lifted his hand up to brush a hair from her face. "I'm not interest in Harmony," he told her. "That girl doesn't have two brain cells to rub together."

This girl would not let up would she? There were plenty of other boys that Harmony could get to follow her around but of course she had to have set her claws in the one that Arabelle liked. That is just her luck. The only boy she has ever liked has a beautiful blonde chasing after him too.
All thoughts of that horrid little girl were pushed out of her mind the second her eyes refocused and she saw Wyatt inches from her face. She watched his hand brush her hair from her face making her breath catch in her throat. Great, there it is. She is going to make a fool of herself again. Why did he make her so nervous? The second he was around she couldn't think let along speak without sounding flustered. It was so frustrating!
Clearing her throat she let her eyes wander back towards harmony and let out a soft laugh. “I don’t care if you’re interested in her. You can be interested in anyone you want…” She could feel her cheeks turning pink as she looked up at Wyatt through her lashes.
