Reaching her door, Kylie squeezed Ewan's hand as she released it to search her bag for her keys. Some how it never failed that her keys always ended up at the bottom of her bag and it took forever to find them. Just as she found them and pulled them out her bag, however, she dropped them on the floor as Ewan pulled her close to him and kissed her. All thought that she had of attempting to unlock her door fled from her mind and her arms went around his neck.
It was true, they hadn't had a moment yet that feelings were really expressed. Before Kylie attempted to hold Ewan out at arm's length. She didn't want him to get close, but in reality he did. He got closer to her than anyone ever had and maybe that was what scared her at first. Now, however, she welcomed it. The absence of him being there made her ache in a way that she wasn't sure how to explain.
After a long moment, Kylie slowly pulled away, but not too far. She left her arms around his neck as she smiled softly at him. Taking a moment, she studied his face, the face she missed. For once, Kylie didn't mind the closeness that was there, nor seemingly intense moment between them. She wasn't running, not now. "You made me drop my keys," she said in a light whisper. She leaned in again and kissed him once more.

Ewan smiled against her lips. He already felt the difference in her. Before, she had always been sort of distant and hesitant. He could never completely reach her. But now, she felt more open. He couldn't quite explain it, but he felt certain that things would be different this time.
"Sorry," he chuckled, kissing her again. "It's just... I realized that I hadn't done that yet."
Maybe they had both needed to work on themselves a little bit, before they could really be together. he'd spent time in the institution, although he hadn't told her about that yet. And she was seeing her therapist, and it seemed to be helping her. And how could that be a bad thing?

Kylie let out a laugh as she picked up her keys. She shook her head with a smile and then unlocked her door. As usual, she opened the door and looked around to make sure everything was the way she left it as she turned on the light. She moved out of the doorway to allow Ewan to step in. Everything in her apartment was neatly organized as usual. Every item had a place.
Closing the door behind Ewan, Kylie smiled. "Well, this is it. It's nothing special really."

But to Ewan, it was special. It was so very Kylie; neat and organized, yet pretty. The room was open and airy, with a fair amount of light coming in through the windows. She hadn't done a lot to decorate the room and yet, everything in it just seemed like her.
"It's better than my place," he said, laughing lightly. "All of my things are still in boxes, stacked all over the place. Maybe you can come over some time and help me organize."

There were only 2 pictures in her apartment. Both pictures were of her and Ewan. One picture was on the end table by the couch and the other was on her nightstand in her room. She laughed when he mentioned all his things were still in boxes. "You only want me to come over to organize everything for you so you don't have to," she teased. Kylie smiled at him as she looked at him from over her shoulder. She hung her bag on the hook as she walked into the living room. Opening her curtains a little more on one window to let a little more light in, she turned back to Ewan.
"Although, I would love to come help you organized." Her smile grew. "It might take a few days, but consider it done. Make yourself at home."

Ewan was touched to see the pictures of the two of them together displayed in her apartment. That, more than anything else, proved to him just what he meant to her. He wasn't just some guy who showed up in her life again and reminded her of how she used to feel. She had been thinking of him all along. She had missed him.
He picked up one of the pictures, a cheap tourist photograph that had been taken when they were at a festival on a pier. They were standing with their backs to the water, and if Ewan remembered correctly, there had been a carousel in front of them. Looking at the picture now brought it all back to him... he didn't like carousels. They had always creeped him out, especially the creepy music and the painted horses with their staring eyes.
But she had been there with him, and that had made all the difference. She kept him calm, and he hoped he could do the same for her.
"I can't believe you kept this," he said with a smile.

Seeing the picture Ewan picked up, she walked over to him. "Of course I had to keep that picture! That was a fun day. That pier was my favorite place during the festival." She smiled and picked up a book on the bottom of the end table. "I've actually made a scrap book of the pictures we've taken." The scrap book had been Dr. Cardena's idea when she was first seeing her. It was a great way to remember the good times, as the doctor put it. "They were all in a little box and I needed to do something with them. Besides one of my favorite pictures is in here, the picture from your birthday." Kylie grinned. That day she jokingly fed Ewan cake, only to have smeared it completely across his face. One of their neighbors had taken the photograph that illustrated them laughing and throwing cake.
The pictures brought back the good feelings that things would be okay. Things were getting better, or at least she thought so at the moment. "I also think I have a picture in here of you while you were snoring," she said with a playful grin.

Ewan couldn't help but laugh at the memory. They'd really had some great times together. He had never really been much of a "fun" person before he met Kylie. He was always too quiet, too serious, and he had a feeling that she was the same way. But somehow when they were together, the world seemed different. She'd made him laugh like he'd never laughed before.
"Hey, I had a cold that time," he protested. "My nose was stuffed up and that was why I was snoring... I know I didn't usually snore that badly..."

"Oh I remember that. I felt so horrible for you. I remember you looked miserable, but you still looked adorable." Kylie grinned as she touched his cheek. "Even then you didn't snore that bad. It was still fairly soft." She touched his curly hair. That was one of her favorite features. Every time they would be curled up together, she would always play with his hair.
"I think our first picture together is also in there, as well as that night you attempting to make that roast in the oven and the whole kitchen became smokey." Kylie let out a laugh. "I think you'd like the little captions I made to go with the majority of the pictures."

"The only good thing about that time was that I had you taking care of me," Ewan said, reaching out to squeeze her hand. "You made me soup and you insisted on helping me eat it, remember?"
It was funny the kinds of things he could remember. He wouldn't have thought that being sick with a cold would be particularly memorable, especially since it seemed to happen fairly often, but with Kylie to take care of him, it had been one of his fondest memories. He barely even remembered feeling sick, because she had taken most of the misery away.
"Captions, huh? Sounds like fun." With the photo album still in one hand, and her hand in the other, Ewan backed over to the couch and sat down, pulling her with him. "Why don't we look at it together?"

"I do remember, because that was the first time I ever really made homemade soup and I hoped it turned out alright." She smiled a sheepish like smile. Kylie liked taking care of him. The act made her feel like she mattered and had a purpose. Of course Ewan always made her feel like she mattered.
Landing on the couch beside him, Kylie curled up next to him. "That sounds great to me. I think you might find a little amusement in there." She gave a little laugh. Photography was something she liked. It allowed her to be able to remember things and made her feel sane since she remembered what event surrounded the picture.
Each page in the album had a different background and the captions were written in calligraphy. It took several days to finally complete the book.

"It was the best soup I'd ever had," said Ewan, his expression turning dreamy. "You must have done something right."
They had both come from strange, fractured backgrounds, and although Ewan had finally found an adoptive mother, he had still never really felt like he belonged anywhere until he met Kylie. He didn't really know much about her past, but he somehow felt like they were connected in ways that he couldn't even begin to understand. It didn't matter why... only that they stuck together this time.
He began to flip through the pages of the picture book, laughing at the captions and at the memories they brought back. They hadn't really been together that long before, but somehow it seemed like that time, those moments, were the only ones that mattered until now.
He touched his finger to a picture of her, laughing, with the ocean in the background. "That was the time we went to Cornwall," he said. "Remember how cold it was? We wanted to learn to surf , but the wind was blowing so hard, I was afraid you'd blow away."

Kylie used to shake her head at the 'lovey-dovey' type of people. Now, however, was different. It took her a little bit to open up more to Ewan, but she didn't mind being 'lovey-dovey' from time to time. Looking through the pages, there was a light smile on her face. Ewan was really all she had. For some reason her adoptive mother scared her and she hadn't seen Lilith in years. As soon as she finished school, she did not return home to her adoptive mother. Kylie fought for whatever she could and got to where she was today. During school, she would make sure to have a summer job and saved the money she worked for. There were times when there were missing memories of her childhood and sometimes when she attempted to remember she would get a serious headache.
Now, however, her mind was filled with the good memories as Ewan turned the pages of the book. She wouldn't trade those for anything. He made her feel normal.
Looking at the picture he pointed to, Kylie let out a laugh. "Yes! I remember that day. It was freezing. I couldn't feel my hands or my nose, or well any part of my body actually." She took a moment to look at the picture a moment longer. "I remember holding on to you like you were my anchor while the wind was blowing. Plus, you were keeping me warm. I remember it took a good ten minutes to warm back up after we returned that day."

Ewan gave her a suggestive grin. "I quite liked keeping you warm that day..." he teased, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her closer. "I think that was the best thing about that day, really... Although I also liked the way your cheeks got all pink from the cold."
He leaned closer and breathed in the scent of her hair. It was such a warm, familiar, comforting smell... the smell of home. "We'll need to make some new memories here. What are some of the cool places to see in London?"

When Ewan grinned, she gave a laugh and rolled her eyes. "Of course you did," she replied. Getting closer to him, she rested her head on part of his chest. This moment was the type of moment that Kylie wished she could capture and always have it. She felt safe and she did not have a care in the world.
"We will make new memories here, that's for sure. Some of the places in London that are cool are the Bridge, the museums, art galleries, the Palace, and the library. Of course it's also nice to just walk around and look at all the buildings. It's nice here and there are huge crowds of people all the time. There's always the wizarding side too, although I will have to say I like the muggle side better. There's a lot of shops in Diagon Alley. I like the pet store, although I think I might just get some kind of puppy or kitten."

"I always thought I was your little lost puppy!" he teased, giving her his very best "puppy dog eyes" impression. Then he leaned in and kissed her softly. "No, actually, I think that would be a good idea... If you got a puppy we could take it for walks together. We could both take care of it. I'm allergic to cats... but not dogs."
He liked the idea that they could sort of be "parents" to an animal. It would help them both to practice taking care of another living creature. And the extra exercise would probably be good for both of them as well.
"You know," he said, looking around the apartment, "I think your apartment is bigger than mine. Mine's a loft... everything all in one room. I have to get a shade or something to screen off the bathroom, because it's kind of unsettling to have your toilet in full view of your kitchen."

"Getting a puppy sounds like a plan! We could go tomorrow and get one." The idea of having a puppy was exciting. There was always something about the idea of having one that made her even more happy. "He or she will be completely spoiled," she added with a smile.
Kylie let out a laugh at the mention of a shade in Ewan's apartment. "I actually have a room for that," she teased. "I picked the layout that had smaller rooms within the apartment. I felt for me that would be safer. I have no idea why." She shrugged. "However if you really wanted to, you could move in here. You'll basically be here all the time anyway. You don't have to right now at this very moment, but the option is still open." Looking up to him she smiled. She wasn't exactly sure if he wanted to move in, but if he didn't she wouldn't be upset about it. After all, they did just find each other again, but she wanted to make sure he knew that he was always welcome to stay. Kylie always felt safest when he was around.

He hadn't exactly been fishing for such an offer, but if he was honest with himself, he had really hoped she would make one anyway. After all, he hadn't been in town long enough to settle in and most of his stuff was still in boxes. And he already knew that he was going to spend most of his time with her, anyway... they might as well live together and save on rent money. But that had only just reunited a little more than an hour ago. Was it jumping the gun just a little to move in together?
He couldn't help but think it was a good sign that she had offered so readily. The last time they had been together, he was pretty sure she never would have even suggested such a thing. Maybe the time apart had been good for the both of them; it helped them to start dealing with some of their issues separately. She was seeing a therapist, and he had spent some time in the hospital, trying to work through his strange and confusing memories. And now they were back together and stronger than ever.
"I'd like that," he said. "Maybe I should wait a month or two.... but it's a good idea. Our dog will need both of his parents to be together, after all," he said teasingly.

"That sounds like a great idea," she said agreeing. Kylie laughed at the mention of the dog needing both of them. "This is true. He will be spoiled by one or the other, or just love the attention." Before Dr. Cardenas had mention about becoming stable and Dr. Burkhardt had mentioned somewhat of stability as well. Maybe this was just what she needed. Things were going great, although it hadn't even been a day since Ewan returned to her. What if this whole thing was just a 'in the moment' thing? What if the layers were going to be pulled back even more and other things are said or done?
The old Kylie would have ran out of the room at a thought like that. This time, she just curled up closer, nuzzling his jawbone a little then resting her head on his shoulder. "Whatever our dog is, I'm pretty sure he will be a good one."

Ewan closed his eyes as she leaned her head against his shoulder. It all seemed like a fantasy or a dream, being back with Kylie and getting a dog, maybe starting a family one day. But there were still issues to be dealt with, and Ewan couldn’t help but worry. He had things he needed to tell Kylie about, and he knew that the longer he kept it from her, the harder it would be. And he didn’t want this new beginning to be weighed down by secrets. After all, there would be other obstacles that they would have to get past as well.
“Kylie,” he said softly, kissing her temple. “There’s something I haven’t told you… I think maybe you ought to know.”
