It was Janelle's first night in Hogwarts and it was one of the most exciting things she had ever done in her short life. She had made friends with some of the other first years while on the boats and waiting to be sorted. When the sorting finally happened, she had been put into Ravenclaw, which wasn't the house her sister's were in, but she was just as excited about it. And she had met many of her house mates. Everything, on her side, seemed to be going very well.
Near the end of dinner, once things had settled down a bit, she jumped up and skipped over to the Slytherin table to her sisters and hugged them.
"Isn't this exciting?! We are all here at Hogwarts now! And I got into Ravenclaw, and the food was amazing and I've made a bunch of new friends. I think in the morning I will send an owl to Mum and Dad about school and everything that has happened. Do you think they will be excited for me?"
Janelle always had a way of letting her mouth get away from her.

Harmony was not nearly as excited by all of these events as her younger sister. She found the sorting boring and stupid, and having her sister take part in the sorting did not make the process any more interesting to her, because she didn't really care where her sister ended up, except for her own private bet with Samantha that Janelle would end up in Hufflepuff. Having lost that bet, any last interest in the entire dinner had long since faded for Harmony. Now she really just wanted to retire to her dorm room, where she could lie on her bed and paint her toenails.
Even boy watching had lost some of its appeal for Harmony tonight. All the cute seventh years from last term had graduated, so that was a bit of a disappointment. She hadn't caught sight of Barty Crouch, Jr, her previous year's crush yet, either. Since she had failed to win him over last term, she was now weighing the options about continuing the pursuit for this year. She didn't like that there was a guy she couldn't have... but she was also wondering if he was even worth all the trouble.
With all of these things on her mind, the last thing Harmony was interested in dealing with was her stupid younger sister, especially when Janelle ran up and hugged her.
"Ew!" she sputtered, pulling away. "Don't touch me! There are other people around!"
Harmony rolled her eyes as Janelle continued to prattle on. She was quite certain that she had never been as silly or as excitable as her younger sister, and sometimes, Harmony wondered just how they could possibly be related.
"Oh, whatever. You can write to them, if you want, but I'm sure they'll just be mad you're not in Slytherin. As if that matters anyway."
