Niela hopped into the cabin and took a quick look around. She tossed her stuff onto a bunk in the back corner of the room. Having only a handful of girls in each cabin made it so that there were no bunk beds, luckily. She sat down on the bed and began to sort through her stuff and see if there was anything she needed to owl home about.
This was her first year going away to the camp, so Niela was excited. Cassidy hadn't wanted to come, so she was on her own for once. On top of that, Collin had decided to be a councilor for one of the boy's cabin.
Niela had spent the last few months of the school year thinking about what had happened between them. She wanted to talk to him about it and find out, but that had proven to be a more difficult task than she had anticipated. On more than one occasion, she had seen him and tried to approach him, but he was always with a friend or something had always stopped her. On one occasion, she had actually been face to face with him, it would have been the perfect time, but her courage had failed her as soon as she had opened her mouth to talk and she had run off. After that, she had just avoided him all together until she could come up with a plan to actually talk to him alone.
For now, though, she decided just to enjoy camp. She seemed to be in an alright cabin. Two Ravenclaws and a Hufflepuff. She knew that cabins were basicly set up to try to encourage inter-house friendship, but she really wished she had gotten in with at least one other Gryffindor.

Brenda still couldn't begin to explain why she had signed up to be a camp counselor, of all things. Maybe it was because she was strangely reluctant to leave school behind, or maybe it was because she had a lot of unfinished business to take care of, but now she was stuck. She had no choice but to go. Still, finding out that she was expected to share her cabin with her charges nearly made her back out completely. She'd probably get a bunch of moronic first year Hufflepuffs or something.
Arriving at the Cardinals Cabin One, Brenda burst in and tossed her things onto the nearest bed. Only one other girl was there, and Brenda sat down on the bed, running her hands through her hair before looking up at the younger girl.
"Let me guess," she said, her lip curling in distaste at the girl's vivid red hair. "Gryffindor?"

Ama was excited for camp. She loved her family to death, but during the summers, the house could get stuffy. Not to mention, she had a feeling there was a lot of tension in the house, not like any of her brothers would tell her anything. Yes, spending the summer at camp would be good for Ama. Maybe she'd make friends that weren't her brother.
She found her cabin and walked in to find two girls already there. The older one, Ama noticed, didn't look as happy to be here as she and the red head were. She passed the Blonde's bed and found one toward the back, saying a quick hello to the both of them before unpacking her things.

Niela looked up at Brenda when she started talking. Instantly, she knew this girl was a Slytherin, simply by her demeanor. She rolled her eyes, hoping that this wasn't her counselor. Just thin another girl walked in. One of the Ravenclaw girl's, she assumed. She smiled at the new one in the group.
"Hey, I think I've seen you around before. Wait, you were on the Ravenclaw team when that... girl showed up to interview you guys, weren't you?"
She was sure that this girl was one of the girls on the team. That was a day to remember. Rita was notorious for being obnoxious to Ravenclaw's and Hufflepuff's teams.

Leyla was excited about camp. It was her first year going and she was even more excited because her brother was joining her. She never would have thought that he would agree to going, especially not so easily. She wondered if Samantha had anything to do with it as she walked into her new cabin. She was sharing it with a Gryffindor, another Ravenclaw, and a Hufflepuff. They also had a Slytherin counselor that she'd never met but heard a lot about. She found an empty bed and smiled at the three already there.
"Hello. I'm Leyla." She said to the Gryffindor. She then smiled at Amandine. They were in the same house so she knew of the blonde girl. She was a little cautious about approaching the Slytherin girl and decided she would try talking to her later.

Brenda thought she might be sick. What a bunch of silly little twits she'd been stuck with! All cutesy and bright and happy, and not a single Slytherin in the bunch. Ravenclaws and Gryffindors, from the looks of it. Yeah, now that she had graduated, she wasn't supposed to care about that sort of thing anymore, but Brenda was sure she'd always be able to tell what house people had been in, no matter how old she got.
Rolling her eyes at her "charges," Brenda sat up and cleared her throat. "All right, you little twits. You'd better not give me any trouble, you hear? And don't expect me to sleep in this cabin every night. I might have other plans, got it?"

Oh, Niela was going to have fun with this one. She smiled sweetly at what she now assumed figured to be a Slytherin Counselor for their cabin. She turned her full body to face Brenda and grasped her hands together, putting them on her knees.
"Well, we wouldn't want the administration finding out about any explicit activities you might be sneaking off to do at night, now would we? So, I would also suppose that would mean if you do want to sneak off to go do all the fun little night time activities you have planned outside of the cabin that you would want us, your charges, to remain quiet about them, right? Well, Sad tongues tend to slip. And I hear one of the worst ways to make a young, impressionable camper sad is for their counselor to treat them poorly. Now, we wouldn't want any of that happening, would we?"
Niela continued to smile sweetly up at Brenda, hands clasped on her knees still.

That was when Brenda realized that there were worse groups to get stuck with than a bunch of first year Hufflepuffs. The first years would be dumb and naive and overly trusting. And Hufflepuffs would be too nice to fight back if she was nasty to them. But in this case, she had girls who were only a few years younger than she was. They had experienced more, they were smarter, and they were more likely to stand up for themselves. No, a room full of Ravenclaws and Gryffindors was definitely worse.
Brenda narrowed her eyes at the ginger-haired girl. She could play dumb and innocent, but not one person--including herself--would have believed it. So fine. She'd just have to deal with this.
"All right, fine," she said, her voice syrupy sweet. "Look, I don't care what you guys do, OK? Read or talk or listen to music after lights out? Sneak in food, or steal the silverware... whatever you do, I won't bust you. If asked, I'll cover for you, as long as you cover for me when I sneak out at night. Got it?"

Did she seriously think she'd escape tension by coming to camp. Stupid move, Ama...
"Fine, whatever," she shrugged. She USUALLY obeyed the rules anyway, so she wasn't worried about being busted for causing any trouble. On the other hand, she was used to covering for Jamie when HE caused trouble, so she was fine covering for Brenda too.
She waved to Leyla and smiled before turning to her trunk and sliding it beneath her bunk. She wished Jamie had come to camp, but then she remembered they weren't talking at the moment, and she frowned slightly as she sat on the bunk, watching the other girls.

Leyla watched curiously as the Gryffindor girl seemed to challenge Brenda. She didn't care what their counselor did to be honest. She was just hoping the cabin wouldn't get into any trouble if she snuck off.
"Sure, sure." She said to the girl before sitting on her bed and pulling out her book. Her thoughts were too distracted at the moment for her to read, however, and she ended up reading the same sentence over and over again. She wondered if she would have the chance to spend any time with Toby. With any luck, the girl he'd told her about was at camp as well and she would be taking up most of his time. Maybe she could sneak off and see Collin without him knowing then.

Niela smirked at Brenda before making sure she had put everything away where it belonged. She kept glancing at the other girls in there. Both seemed a bit timid and one kept her nose in some book, though Niela hadn't actually seen her turn the page at all. They had been so complacent and dismissive with Brenda's attempted bullying, she worried that she was going to have to stand up for her cabin on her own.
Now that she had finished putting everything away, she glanced around once more and decided to head to the dinning hall for food. She grabbed her wand and her jacket and headed out.

Brenda watched the Gryffindor go with narrowed eyes. She wasn't thrilled that this girl seemed to think she could challenge her. The other girls seemed fairly quiet, but what if the redhead rallied the other girls somehow? She could have an outright rebellion on her hands, and Brenda definitely didn't need that.
But for now, at least the redhead was gone. Shrugging to herself, she reached into her bag and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "You kids don't mind if I smoke in here, right?" she said as she as lighting up. She wasn't even sure why she asked, of course, because she was going to do it anyway.
