Evian was a little nervous. She was having Marcus over for dinner that night and, although she'd had him over before, she was always a little nervous whenever being around him. At any moment he could figure out what she was doing. She could get killed if she wasn't careful. She was positive he wouldn't hesitate to take care of her if he found out the truth.
As she set the table, she poured two glasses of wine. She was sure they would go through a bottle or two by the end of the night. It helped calm her nerves and it was a good way to loosen someone's tongue. She heard a knock at her door and she took a quick drink before answering it.
"Hey sweet heart. How are you?" She asked with a well practiced smile on her face. Sure, she thought Marcus was cute. She enjoyed his charm and he wasn't a bad conversationalist. But to be honest, he scared the living hell out of her.

As soon as the door opened, a smile fell on Marcus's face.
"Hello Beautiful."
He scooped her up in a hug and swung her around as he entered the room. He set her down and closed the door behind them, with a last glance out the door to make sure there was no one following him. He made it quick so that she wouldn't get suspicious, then turned back to her and locked the door behind him.
"So, What is the plan for the evening?"
He sits down on the couch, facing her and glancing around. He liked her, a lot. The two of them had so much in common. He knew if his parents were still around, they would be instantly asking him when the wedding was going to be. But that could wait now.

Evian allowed herself to enjoy the hug for a moment before reminding herself that it wasn't real, even if he didn't know that. She noticed him glance out the door before closing it and wondered what he was looking for. She didn't question it though. She gestured to the dining room that was attached to her small living room.
"I was thinking dinner, some wine? I made Italian." She said with a smile before going into the kitchen to check on dinner. He had been there often enough to know to make himself at home and she was happy when he did just that. She brought the food out and beckoned him to the table.
"So, How was work?" She asked, holding his wine glass out for him.

"Today was exhausting. Some idiot half blood thought it would be wise to start breeding Cockatrice in a hen house in his back yard just outside of Gillingham. Damnable things got loose, petrified him and three muggles. Had to go and clean it up. Luckally, my assistant was with me. I had him take the four of them to St. Mungos to get unpetrified, while I rounded up the birds and sent them off to a reserve. Honestly, I think the birds were in the right."
When she came back out, he hopped up and moved to help her bring everything out.
"I can tell you this, though. After all the excitement, I am Starving. Although," he paused in his speach, once they both put the things they were carrying on the table, he pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I think I may need something sweet before I sit down for your meal." He leaned in a bit closer to kiss her.

Evian listened to him talk about work and she found herself actually interested in what he had to say. She smiled as he helped her get everything set on the table and nodded at the appropriate times at his story. "Sounds like you had a rough day. I'm glad you got it all taken care of. Some people have no common sense."
She smirked as he wrapped his arms around her waist before placing hers around his neck. "I suppose I can give you that much, seeing as you were working hard today." She stood on her toes a bit and returned the kiss. Just like with the hug, she let herself fall into his kiss a little more than she intended. She always tried to keep a level head around him but she slipped a bit. Just as she felt herself deepening the kiss, she pulled away with a laugh.
"Our food's getting cold. Maybe we should put this aside until later." She winked at him before stepping away.

"You are absolutely right. How rude of me."
He kissed her once more on the head and pulled away. He went to her chair and pulled it out for her. He waited for her to sit down before taking a seat himself. He was a gentleman, if nothing else.
"So, we talked about my day, what about yours? Did you do anything exciting today?"
He had other things he wanted to talk to her about, but those could wait until after dinner. For now, he opened the wine and poured both of them a glass.

She smiled and thanked him as he very gentlemanly held her chair out for her. She took her seat and watched as he took his before pouring them wine. She thanked him a second time and took a sip.
"My day?" She thought back to work and grimaced. Nothing too interesting had happened. It had been pretty boring lately. "Nothing too exciting. I almost got into an arguement with that Breanna woman. I swear, there's something about her that just gets under my sick. I feel sorry for Gabe. He has to listen to the two of us bicker constantly. I'm surprised he hasn't asked to have his desk moved." She shook her head at the thought.
"Unfortunately, nothing too exciting has been going on. I've been writing a story about Centaurs lately. You might actually find this one facinating. Apparently they're considering a revolt if they aren't given proper rights soon." She explained, thinking of the Centaur debacle. They were classified as creatures and weren't exactly happy with their lack of rights.

"Yeah, I did hear about that. Though, I'm not on that case. Unfortunately, it is a cross over between our department and another. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon."
He spooned himself up some of the food, grabbed a bit of garlic bread, and sat back.
"So, I was thinking. Maybe I can pull a few strings and possibly get you some of the more interesting stories? Maybe about that Danica girl? I think it's about time you got some recognition. And I know one of the editors. He covered a few of my stories back in the day."

"It's becoming a bit of an issue. I think the minister will handle it soon though. I actually spoke to one of the Centaurs. It's amazing the kind of treatment they get. They are half human after all." She scooped herself some food and dug in before responding to his offer.
"That would be fantastic. I'd love something new to write about. Do you really think you could get me in?" Evian asked, her eyes bright at the idea. She had been hoping to use him for stories but she never expected them to come in like this.
"I could really use something to impress my boss with." That was true too. She hadn't gotten any new information from Marcus lately and she could tell that her boss was getting impatient with her.

"Well, I don't think the Cockatrice thing is quiet compelling enough for it. But I'm sure I can figure something out for you to write on to impress your boss."
He smiled his charming smile at her and then continued eating. For a long moment, he tried to think a way to talk to her about what he had been thinking about. They had been casually seeing each other for a couple of weeks now. Possibly even a month or so, it was hard to keep track with everything else he was doing. In the end, he decided just to try to talk to her about it.
"Look, Evian. I might have to go away for a week or so for my... you know... Other job. It's just that He might be sending me out of the country and... well, I just wanted to know if you were going to be ok with that."
He had eluded to her before about what else he did with his spare time and had given some innuendo about who else he worked for. He trusted her. She had already spoken with him about her hatred of muggles and her pureblood. So he hoped she would understand. Eventually, he even hoped to recruit her into the DeathEaters. But he figured that could wait for now.

"Well, I appreciate your help, Marcus." She responded with an equally charming smle. They continued eating and it was quiet for a long moment. She stole glances at him while she ate and she could tell he definitely had something on his mind. She didn't push him, although she wanted to, she knew he would tell her when he was ready.
She looked up as he spoke and listened cautiously. She tried not to look overly interested in what he was saying but her heart always beat a bit fast at the mention of Him. She was itching to get some good information from him. She furrowed her brow when he finished.
"Are you asking me as if I have a say in this?" She asked sarcastically. She knew if she told him she didn't want him to go, he wouldn't have a choice. If the Dark Lord told him to jump, he didn't ask questions. That's just how it worked with them.
"Do you know where you'll be going?" She asked curiously, as if she was concerned for his safety.

"Well, no, I have to go either way, but I Want you to be ok with it. As for where, I'm not completely sure, as it might be a few places. He wants me to see about negotiations with the Giants and few of the other Semi-sentient creatures. So I have to go chasing down a few different groups. Some of them are migratory, so I have to figure out where they might even be."
He sighs and sits back in his chair. Talking about his work always gave him a bit of a headache when he really thought about everything he goes through. Sometimes, he wonders how he can even keep a social life with Evian with everything else going on in his life. But, in truth, she helped him cope with everything.

Evian hung on his every word and found herself again wondering if there was any way to record him without his knowledge. Knowing it was too risky, she shot the idea down for the millionth time. She put a concerned frown on her face as she sipped her wine and absorbed the news.
"You'll be ok though right? I've heard the Giants can be a little dangerous." She said this despite the fact that he worked with dangerous magical creatures for a living. She realized that's probably why he was picked for this task.
"How long will you be gone?" He'd said a week or so but that could turn into a couple of months. The thought worried her for more reason than one. She didn't like to admitt it but she was concerned for his safety. She was also worried about the lack of information she would have for who knows how long.

"I should be fine. Giants aren't that difficult to deal with, as long as you keep a good distance from them. And as for how long, I would suspect anywhere from a week to a month. Hopefully it wont take me too long to find them. They should be in their summer resting grounds right now."
He actually liked that she was concerned for him. It gave him hope that, with some pureblood pushing, the world could be fixed to how it should be. Maybe everything wasn't as bad as it could have been. After all, they had each other.

"Well, I don't like the idea of you leaving but I don't have a choice. Just promise you'll be careful." Evian said, reaching out and grasping his hand. She knew he would appriciate the gesture. He liked that she cared so much about him.
"I hope you're not gone too long. I had plans for us next weekend." She said, a flirtatious smile on her face. She had been planning on taking him out soon. She felt more comfortable when they spent time together outside of her house.

He smiled at her, encouragingly.
"I'll try to be home by the week end. Even if I am just in for that day. But this had better be a good surprise," he teased her.
He finished up his food and began to gather his dishes, downing the last of his wine quickly. He took them all into her kitchen.
"You know, one of these days, I should bring you over to my place. It's in a nice neighborhood, plenty of grounds. I'll have to make sure Dolkin cleans up a bit better, though."
