Though Adrien didn't really see the point in getting to know his bride before the wedding he supposed she was pretty enough to spend time with. It would be good to lay down some ground rules and expectations for when they were married so she would know how she was to behave.
Though he acted like a consummate gentleman for her father and family Adrien had wide and varied tastes and he would see to it that Gwen knew exactly what was expected of her before the wedding.
He suggested this outing for them for all intents and purposes looking quite like the dashing romantic, it was rather far off the mark.
"Well my dear how do you like the flowers?" he asked inclining his head toward Gwen.

She didn't buy the act, not for a second. Gwen had grown up with the Wolff family, Adrien in particular, and there was no way she was going to believe that he wanted to get to know her, or in any way sweep her off of her feet. He also didn't seem like that type that cared whether she liked him or not, so this wasn't some masked attempt at coming to terms with each other.
What she couldn't figure out was his end game. What was the point, what was he getting at?
After a slight cringe at his term of endearment, she made the decision to play along. Briefly. To see if he would show himself. "They're always quite lovely this time of year, don't you think?"

"Indeed." he replied shortly. Even though they had grown up together he had never taken any time to really see the girl, it wasn't until she developed certain other charms that he decided on an alliance with the Scott family. Truth be told he thought her insipid as most other debutantes were, perhaps with a more defiant streak, one that he would enjoy breaking her out of.
"Perhaps we will have the wedding this time next year." if he decided to wait that long.
