Oh, Godric. She had underestimated how hard this would be. Not the sparring match itself... but trying to fight with him when she really wanted to be doing something else with him was pretty much insane. She was on her back, and he was so close... she thought sure he was going to kiss her. And she was disappointed when he didn't.
When he leaned down and whispered to her, she couldn't deny how deeply attracted she was to him. He was toying with her now, and that made her angry. Quick as lightning, she kicked her leg out, aiming at his kneecap while rolling away from him.
"Of course not," she replied with a smirk.

Daniel wasn't expecting it. Victoria's leg came in contact with his knee, and he let go of her. "Well, I will admit, you are doing well so far." He returned her smirk with one of his own. Daniel rolled over and started to get up.
"I knew you had plenty of energy in you. Glad to see that the little distraction a second ago didn't work for you. You're fairly quick, but how fast can you think?" Daniel moved quickly toward her without missing a beat to attempt to pin her in the corner.

"As if that would have been enough to distract me," Victoria said boldly. It was very obviously a lie, and she was pretty sure he knew it, but it helped strengthen her resolve. She wasn't giving in so easily... he was going to have to work for this one.
She began to circle him again, planning to make another move. And just for added effect, she "accidentally" gave her top a little downward tug, exposing a little bit of cleavage. After all, if he could use the attraction between them as a weapon to distract her, she could very well do the same.

The tension between the two was obvious. Daniel attempted to fight it. One reason was that he worked with her. He did his best to keep work and play away from each other. However, at this moment, he wasn't really thinking about all of that. He was toying with her and she was doing the same. The thought did occur to him that maybe he really did meet his match. She was just as stubborn and knew how to flirt right back with him. He liked the way she flirted with him. Victoria didn't just throw herself at him.
As soon as Victoria pulled down her top, it obviously caught Daniel's attention. He was a guy. Daniel looked up to meet her eyes and grinned. "You might want to be careful there. Wouldn't want you to have a wardrobe malfunction. Well, actually, I wouldn't mind but I'm sure that others wouldn't want to really see it if they came down here."

Victoria smiled at the appreciative look in his eyes when she pulled her top down. Oh, she was perfectly aware of her considerable assets and how best to display them. And she knew Daniel wouldn't be immune.
"I don't know, I think it's functioning very well, actually," she teased. "And I believe we have this whole area to ourselves for at least another fifteen minutes."
Long enough for all kinds of highly inappropriate things to happen. The thought made Victoria's cheeks feel warm again, and her legs felt wobbly. But no, she was not going to let her own mind take her down any more than she was going to let him win.
"Are you just going to stare, or are you going to make a move?"
It was a loaded question, and the deepening blush on Victoria's face indicated that she meant it in more ways than one.

That really was a loaded question. Of course Daniel took the question in more ways than one and the blush on Victoria's cheeks let him know that she did the same. There was a light smirk on his face. Even if he didn't want to admit it out loud, he really had met his match.
"I do believe you may be hinting around at something Ms. Bennett," he said in a lower tone as he drew closer to her. "Are you sure you can handle that?" It took great concentration not just run over to her and kiss her. Daniel took his time moving over to her.

Oh, Merlin. The tension between them was so thick, Victoria thought she could cut it with a knife and spread it on toast. The anticipation was sweet torture, and she wasn't sure whether she wanted him to hurry up and get it over with or take his sweet time.
But she never let her smile waver. She even raised an eyebrow at him as he slowly drew closer.
"Mmmm, I think I can handle you," she said, her voice lifting suggestively at the word handle. "The question is, can you handle me?"
Oh, she was getting really bold now. But she'd never been the shy type, and she wasn't afraid to admit what she wanted. And right now, what she wanted more than anything was for him to kiss her.

Anyone who ever paid attention to them would have seen something like this coming. Even Sean told Daniel that it would happen. He liked to tease her a little just to see how frustrated she would get or how flustered she could become.
"Oh sweetheart, I can handle you," he said stepping in front of her. Daniel slowly put his hands on her waist and then he moved quickly by pulling her to him and kissing her. Victoria's facial expressions told him all he needed to know in that moment, even if she didn't mean it to be. Throughout his experience working for the MLE, Daniel knew that even the people who thought they could bluff the most could slip up every once in awhile.

Victoria honestly thought her knees would give out on her when he crossed the mat and put his arms around her. When their lips touched, it was pretty much perfect. She could barely even think straight as he kissed her, and she responded by kissing him back eagerly.
There really was no telling just how long they stood, wrapped up in each other and kissing. It could have been a few moments, or it could have been hours. To Victoria, it felt like an eternity... and yet it still wasn't long enough. But still she pulled away and looked at him through sleepy, dazed eyes.
"Mmmm... I think we can call this one a draw, don't you think?" she murmured.

Both of them knew that this was going to happen. Daniel, as oblivious as he could be sometimes, knew. The tension was completely obvious. Oddly, he hadn't really intentionally flirted with another girl while this whole thing (whatever it was), was going on with Victoria.
The kiss was something he couldn't really describe. It was past time that this kiss happened. Sure, they shared one while he was in the hospital, but this one was definitely something. Leaving an arm wrapped around her waist, Daniel let his other hand remain on her cheek as she pulled away. He smiled as she mentioned them having a draw.
"I think we can do that," he replied back leaning in to kiss her for a second time. This time this kiss didn't last near as long as the first one. "If it's a draw, then I owe you dinner."

Technically, a draw probably meant that they should split the cost, but Victoria wasn't going to nit-pick. Actually, she wasn't even sure she could manage to speak well enough to insist on it, anyway. It didn't really matter anyway... they both knew that this had never been about a sparring match anyway. The whole point of this was the kiss and finally admitting to each other just what was going on between them.
She leaned in for another kiss, but kept it short. Merlin, she didn't want to stop kissing him, but she knew this was probably not the best place for that.
"Dinner sounds good," she said in a low, throaty voice. She only just barely managed to refrain from inviting him back to her place for "dessert." Instead, she smiled up at him. "Where did you have in mind?"

Even if Victoria really did win, he was going to pay for dinner anyway. It was going to be a win-win situation any way it went. Daniel made sure of that.
Daniel didn't move his arm from her waist just yet. He knew exactly what he did to her. Plus, he liked his arm around her. "Well, I'm pretty sure you don't really want my cooking," he said with a little teasing to his voice, "So I'm thinking we could do Italian." He smiled at her. Daniel knew that they both needed to take showers and get ready. He had to bite his tongue from offering to spare water.
"That is, if that's okay with you. I figured we could go there."

Victoria liked the way his arm felt around her waist. It was warm and protective and yet exciting all at once. Whatever this thing was between them, she was going to enjoy every minute of it. Yes, maybe they had started out playing games with each other, but they both had known all along that it would end up here. She wasn't going to play coy any more... it wasn't necessary.
"Italian sounds perfect," she said, leaning a little closer to him. Actually, she didn't really care what they ate, because she was going to be thinking about what would happen after dinner. But dinner had been part of the bet, and it was nice that he wanted to take her out. For all his teasing, he really was a gentleman.
She leaned in and kissed him again. "We'd better get showered and everything... It's really too bad that we have to have separate locker rooms..."

Daniel let out a small laugh. "Oh, you already want to take a shower with me," he said teasingly. He even knew that they were going to end up here. Things between them had built up and it seemed like things were at a high at the moment.
"I can't let you have all the spoils just yet." Daniel winked at her. He was doing a decent job of containing himself. After all, he wanted to tease her just a little more. Picking with Victoria was something he enjoyed.
Daniel tapped the end of her nose playfully. "After all, I can't show you everything at once. I have to save a little bit for later." He grinned as he leaned in to kiss her quickly. "I'll walk with you to the showers however."

Victoria couldn't help it... she was impatient. But she also knew that if she waited, the anticipation would just make it sweeter. There was no point in rushing things... they had admitted that they were attracted to each other, and neither of them was the type to just sit around and wait for things to happen. They were the type who made things happen.
She pouted playfully and gave him another kiss. "Oh, I suppose I can wait a little while. And actually, I am starving. All this... exercise... is enough to make a girl hungry."
She allowed him to walk her to the ladies' locker room, then stopped to look up at him with a flirty smile. "Meet you back here in 20 minutes?"

Daniel let out a laugh. "Aww, you don't have to pout," he replied. "I promise that you will enjoy our date." He grinned. Honestly, Daniel was not sure how everything was going to pan out. He remembered to the day they met. Something told him that his boss knew something he didn't.
"I'll also promise there will be plenty of food to eat at dinner. If there's not, we can always stop and get more." He gave her a wink. Daniel could have made a certain comment about what normally comes after dinner, but he kept it to himself with a smile.
"Are you sure it will only take you 20 minutes to get ready? You females like taking your time," he teased her as he put one hand on her hip. Daniel kissed her head.

Victoria raised her eyebrows at him. “Well, you’re awfully confident, aren’t you?” she teased. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think that you planned it this way. Were you trying to seduce me from the beginning?”
She was teasing, really. Even if he had been trying to seduce her, she didn’t really mind. She had been just as willing a participant as he was. Really, they were both adults and they didn’t see the need to hide their feelings for any reason. She wasn’t sure if the Ministry would approve, although she had heard that several of the aurors had “paired off” in this way already.
“Oh, I’ll be ready in 20 minutes, don’t you worry about that. I know most girls like to take forever to get ready and never think they look good enough, but it just so happens that I look amazing in a t-shirt and jeans. And I can hardly improve upon perfection, can I?”

"I can't tell you all my secrets," Daniel said teasingly. "I mean, even if I did plan to seduce you from the beginning, it worked pretty well." He winked at her.
He knew that if Sean had been there, his brother would more than likely showed a 'throwing up' expression. Just the thought almost made Daniel laugh. This was honestly the first time Daniel had ever really gone out with someone in the Ministry. He tried his best to keep work separate from play, but this time he could not help that. Although he knew if there was any question to it, he could still keep them separate.
"I mean, I wouldn't oppose you going in nothing but a towel; however, I don't want to share you at all. Plus, I don't want to have to be forcing other guy's eyes back in their heads." Daniel smiled with amusement. "Just so you know, I do like you in anything you wear. Even those too much material robes." He winked at her again and took a few steps toward the men's showers.

Maybe it was inappropriate to be going on this way with someone she worked with. But she knew for a fact that several members of the Auror department had already paired off—Andromeda and Ted Tonks were married, and Andromeda was pregnant. Riley Neves was also pregnant and very much involved with Roland Ferrera, who, as they had all only recently discovered, was not dead, as had been previously reported. Who would even bat an eye at her and Daniel getting together, as long as it didn’t distract them from their work?
Victoria was having fun with Daniel, and he was very good at matching her banter and flirting right back with her. And really, some people made too much of a big deal out of relationships—trying to fight their feelings or deny them or hide from their past. Victoria didn’t see anything wrong with just letting go of all of those things and just having fun with it.
“Hmm, I think I’ll wait a little on that towel suggestion,” she teased. “But if you play your cards right, maybe I’ll try that in the future.”
She did, however, agree that the Ministry-issue robes were entirely too much material. She could never understand how witches could bear wearing such ridiculous costumes when they could instead have a pretty dress that showed off their figures. Of course, Victoria realized that not everyone had a figure like hers…
“See you in a few minutes,” she said with a smile, as she disappeared behind the dressing room door.
Getting dressed in a hurry was actually something Victoria was pretty good at. She had no idea how muggle women could possibly get themselves ready in a decent amount of time, but Victoria knew all the quick spells to spruce up her appearance.
She took a shower in “double-time,” thanks to a quick shower spell, dried her hair in just 2 minutes with a drying spell, and charmed on a full makeup application with just a wave of her wand. She dressed in a bright pink paisley minidress with flared sleeves and a pair of platform shoes that would make her look even taller than she already was. Her hair fell in long, loose waves around her face, and it looked rather as if she had spent hours getting ready instead of a mere 10 minutes.
She folded her workout clothes into her bag, which she then charmed to be the size of a small clutch, then stepped out of the locker room to meet Daniel.
