ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Character Name: Toby Ralph Collins
Year: 7th
Appearance:
- Brief Description: While not what one would consider classically handsome, Toby is attractive in his own way. His blue-gray eyes are set off against his pale complexion and black hair, and his rare smiles light up his face in such a way that anyone who sees it can't help but fall under his spell. His most noticeable feature, however, are his ears, which stick out on either side of his face. He's rather self-conscious about them, and often tries to comb his hair over them. He will sometimes go so far as to talk to people with his head turned to one side, in order to de-emphasize his ears.
- Eye Color: blue-gray
- Hair (color, length, style): black, relatively short but often shaggy.
- Skin Tone: pale, white
- Height: 6'
- Body Type: tall and skinny
Celebrity Claim (make sure you post in the Celebrity Claim list as well, and make sure your chosen celebrity is available): Colin Morgan
Preferred House: Slytherin (I debated putting him in Slytherin or Ravenclaw, but I'm thinking Slytherin will suit him better. Of course, Seventh year Slytherins are technically closed, but I'm the admin and can over-rule myself. )

- has slow-boiling temper--and you don't want to be around him when it boils over
- very bitter, holds a grudge forever
- not exactly what you'd call friendly
- his sister is his biggest weakness
- hates muggles and muggleborns
Personality: Toby is pretty much the exact opposite of his sister. Where she is outgoing and friendly, he is quiet and withdrawn. Because he is so quiet, he observes and overhears quite a lot, while most people don't even realize he's there. Not that he cares about any of it, he just files it away in the back of his mind, just in case he ever needs it someday. He has a mental list of people who have, without even realizing it, offended him. Some have merely made the mistake of being half-bloods or muggleborns, while others have said something about his sister or about himself. If anything is going to make his temper explode, it is a comment about his sister. He is fiercely, violently protective of her, and even commenting that she's "hot" may be enough for him to start a fight. And depending on the offense, he may even resort to physical violence, instead of magic.
He secretly aspires to be a death eater, like his father, having been trained to hate muggles and muggleborns from a very early age. His father's inprisonment in Azkaban is just added fuel to the fire for him, because he blames the Ministry's "pro-muggle" laws for his father's arrest. Wizards shouldn't have to hide their powers from muggles; they should be able to do whatever they want. He believes Lord Voldemort can make that happen and restore true wizards to their rightful place in society.
There is only one thing--or rather, one person--who is keeping him from fully crossing over to the evil side. That person is Leyla. He loves her more than life itself, and he would do anything for her. She doesn't realize the power she has over him, however, because he's never told her how he feels. Such displays of emotion were simply not done in their family, and so he rarely even hugs her. But if she said the word, if she tried to convince him against being a death eater, he would do it, simply because she asked him. But if something were to tear them apart, it would push him over the edge, and there would be no coming back...
Family
- Mother: Sybil Collins
- Father: Ralph Finnes
- Siblings (if any, list names and ages): Leyla Collins, age 15
- Other family members (if significant): none
History: Leyla may not remember her father, but Toby does. He remembers all too well. He was nearly eight years old when their father was sent to Azkaban, but he remembers it like it was yesterday. Until that day, Toby had been a relatively talkative, bright child, who was extremely close to his father. He had already learned how to fly on a practice broom, and his father had been teaching him how to play quidditch as well.
But what the rest of the family didn't know was that Ralph was also teaching Toby how to hate muggles. In their "father-son" chats, he constantly drilled into Toby's head many negative things about muggles and muggleborns. He told him about Lord Voldemort, then just beginning to form the early death eaters and rise in power. He filled poor young Toby's head with so much bitterness and negativity that when he was finally arrested, Toby believed that it was all a conspiracy by pro-muggle groups seeking to persecute purebloods and ruin the wizarding world.
But Toby never mentioned any of these thoughts to his mother and sister. In fact, for six months, he didn't say anything at all. Gradually, he opened up a little more, but he keeps most of his thoughts to himself.
Once he started school, he continued to keep to himself, and didn't make many friends. After Leyla began Hogwarts a few years later, he spent much of his spare time with her, just listening to her talk and helping her with her schoolwork. he doesn't understand her fascination with muggle books, and often tries to get her more "respectable" wizard books to read instead.
Unbeknownst to his mother and sister, Toby still visits his father in Azkaban. The horrible conditions at the prison have taken their toll on him, and he's a shadow of the man he once was, but Toby still insists on visiting once a year, on his father's birthday. He's counting the days when he can become a death eater himself, but he's torn. His love for his sister still keeps him on the straight and narrow... for now.
Anything else? No, except that I think he's going to be fun...
