ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Character Name: Pyxis "Pyxi" Sampson
Year: 7th
Appearance:
- Brief Description: Pyxi is pretty much her brother's opposite in appearance. Where he is tall, she is short; where he is bulky, she is slim and delicate-looking. But looks can be deceiving, because while she looks somewhat fragile, she's just as tough as her brother appears to be.
- Eye Color: brown
- Hair (color, length, style): brown hair, worn short. Her hair has a bit of a natural curl, but she hates it and always straightens it.
- Skin Tone: tan
- Height: 5'4" (two inches shorter than the PB actually is, but I'm using younger images of her, so I think it's appropriate)
- Body Type: slim, slightly curvy

Personality: Pyxis is as bright and sunny as the island where she was born. She loves to laugh and have a good time, and she hates to see anyone else depressed. She can be a bit of a clown at times, going out of her way to make a person laugh if she thinks they need it. She's the go-to girl if you need cheering up. And if you just need someone to listen, Pyxis is good for that, too. Sometimes she talks a little too much herself, but she's a great listener, too. She has a little rule for herself: talk to someone new every day. And at Hogwarts, it's easy! There's always someone new to talk to, and she doesn't care about the different houses. She'll talk to anyone.
Sometimes she gets restless, especially when cooped up inside for too long. She gets fidgety in class, when she's not daydreaming, that is. She also has a tendency to doodle on the edges of her parchments, instead of taking notes in class. She does pretty well in most classes, though... but potions is the bane of her existence. And she needs to be good at it, if she wants to be a healer.
She has a strong sense of wrong and right, and is never afraid to stand up for what she believes in. And when she sees someone straying off the path, she's not afraid to call them on it, even if that someone is her older brother Bootes.

History: Pyxis was born in Hawaii, but she doesn't remember it.. The family had moved on by the time she was 2 years old, so all she has of Hawaii is a few baby pictures on the beach or under palm trees and a necklace made of volcanic stones that used to belong to her mother.
Like Bootes, Pyxis became used to moving around almost constantly, having private tutors or attending private muggle schools all through her childhood. She was a fun, friendly, outgoing girl, and she never had any problems making friends--she even still writes to many of them, long after she moved on. Out of all the places she has lived that she can remember, her favorite place was the Greek island of Santorini, and she hopes to go back one day to see the boy she met there.
She was 11 when her mother died, and was already attending Hogwarts. They had been set to move on to France before her mother's death, and she had been looking forward to attending Beauxbatons, but instead she ended up staying at Hogwarts for her entire magical education. Although she likes Hogwarts and has a great deal of friends, Pyxis actually hates England more than any other place she's been. The climate is too cold, there's not enough sun, it seems like it's always raining, and the beaches aren't very good. She still has Hawaii in her blood, and she feels lost if she can't go to the beach on a regular basis.
She has a great love of art, as well, and is always painting whenever she has spare time. Mostly she paints landscapes of the places she's been, but she has done portraits of people, particularly her family. A painting she did of her mother hangs above the fireplace at the house where she lives with her father when she's home from school.
Although she planned to be an artist, since her father's depression has turned into dementia, Pyxis has decided to become a healer, so that she might be able to find some kind of medical cure for his illness. If only she can keep up her Potions grade....
Anything else? Dammit, she sounds more like a Gryffindor.
