Mum always wrote on Tuesday, and today was no exception. Her owl, Ringo (named after her favorite Beatle) had delivered the letter along with a box of chocolate chip cookies from Mum's bakery this morning at breakfast. Pippa had immediately started work on her reply, using every spare moment she had during the day to finish the letter.
Maybe it was dorky to write to your parents every day, but Pippa didn't care. She loved her parents, and they loved hearing from her. They were muggles, so they knew nothing about the magical world. They wanted her to tell them everything she could about Hogwarts and the magical world, and Pippa always kept notes of the new things she had discovered each week.
It was still two hours before dinner when Pippa finished her letter. Still carrying the box of cookies with her, she made her way up to the owlery to mail her letter. Once inside, she whistled for Ringo to come to her. The spotted owl was dozing at the top of the owlery and didn't seem too pleased about being called at that moment.
"Ringo, come!" she called impatiently. "I have owl treats for you."
Ringo raised his head and looked up, then reluctantly fluttered down to the table in front of her. She gave him a few owl treats, then tied the letter on his leg. Finally, the letter was ready, and Ringo gave her finger a gentle nip before taking off into the sky.
Pippa watched him go, then turned around to head out of the owlery. Maybe she could find a nice quiet place to enjoy her cookies.

Angelina Smith was storming around Hogwarts. Making rude remarks like, "Why in the world would you have a stupid idea like that?" and "Why don't you go jump off a cliff since obviously no one would care?" She wasn't really mean, she was just so angrey. She had been in a class, writing in her diary ( her whole family was muggles but she didn't write letters to her aunt and uncle, her parents had died in a car crash, because she didn't have a really loving relationship with them, so she wrote in a diary, mostly about Hogwarts. ) when the teacher spotted her and took her diary away, reading the last paragraph out loud to the class. And it wasn't even that bad! When class was let out some older Slytherin girls had teased her and eventually ripped every page out of her diary, and left them there. Most of them were blown away, and Angelinaonly managed to grab a few. So, there she was, red faced from crying, and holding a notebook covers and a mass handful of crinkled papers. She stormed into the owlery, hoping to find some peace and quiet. She ran past another girl, a redhead she saw. Deap down a small voice said, She's pretty! Go ask ehr to sit with you! But she ignored it. "Who are you? Somebody else come to ruin my life?" Angelina screamed. A few owls fluttered their wings and hopped farther away from her.

Poor Pippa didn't know what hit her. One minute she was on her way out of the owlery, and the next, a girl was streaking by her angrily. Before she could even react to this, the girl started yelling at her, and Pippa was so shocked that she let out a squeal and gave a little jump backwards. As she did this, the box of cookies slipped from her hand and fell to the owlery floor, which was covered with feathers and owl droppings. The box burst open, and cookies went flying everywhere.
"Oh, no!" Pippa cried, putting her hands to her mouth in horror. "My mum made me those cookies.... I didn't even get to try one."
They couldn't possibly be edible now, she realized. And she'd been so looking forward to eating them... she missed her mothers baking when she was away at school. Her soft green eyes filled with tears and she held back a sob as she squatted down on the ground to see if there were any cookies left in the box.

Angelina had a smack of regret. It wasn't this girl's fault her diary was ruined. Now she had made her miserable. It was like a spreading disease. She looked at the cookies and spotted one still safe in the box.
"Hey, I'm really sorry. Look, theres one left." She said, her lips curling in her mouth in shock, and embarassment. Normally, if she wasn't so mad, now sad, she would have skipped into the room, smiled and started talking to this girl. She was so ashamed of herself now.
"I am really sorry, you see.." she trailed off and looked down at her ripped and crinkled papers, then at her notebook cover. Her notebook had many scratches now, when about an hour ago it had been spotless, a bright blue joy with a very pale purple peace sign covering it, and in dark purple was DIARY writen in a swirly cursive. Now everything she had been grasping onto, everything that had helped her get to sleep at night, was gone. The clif she had been holding onto, and slowly pulling herself up onto, and fallen away, taking her with it.
"I've got no friends, I'm failing all my classes but trying to make people think I'm a know-it-all, I've got no parents, and now I've got no diary. Even my cat, she doesn't want to be near me anymore." She whispered, and looked down at her red fists before squeezing her eyes tight, trying to imagine her parents, having great BFF's, getting scholarships, having a loving dog, maybe a chihuahua, an dhaving a pink diary with hearts all over it. The funny thing was, everytime she tried to imagine her face with any of this, it wasn't there. The face, was blank. That was how she knew it wasn't real, and that it never could be.
