Celebrity Claim (make sure you post in the Celebrity Claim list as well, and make sure your chosen celebrity is available): I'm thinking of Matt Smith?
Profession: Inventor/Entrepeneur
Strengths:
- Highly imaginative and creative
- Though he appears messy and haphazard, he's actually highly organized.
- Quick and persuasive talker--he can convince you of something long before you even realize your objections
- Is a most clever manipulator--he can make people do things while thinking it's their own idea. (luckily, he uses this skill in a benevolent manner)
- Excellent sense of humor
- Will do anything for his friends.
-
Weaknesses:
- He never seems to take anything seriously (notice I say "seems")
- He jokes so often about so many things that it is difficult to tell if he means anything he says
- Of course he has a weakness for the ladies.
- Despite his persuasive skills, he does not have the business sense to make any of his schemes succeed financially, and frequently abandons them.
- He has a tendency to lose interest in projects midway through and doesn't finish most things that he starts.
- He is frequently restless, and is difficult to pin down in one place for too long.
Personality: Knowing Tom is a bit like knowing a tornado. He can sweep people up into one of his schemes faster than they know how to react. He's quick with a joke--so quick that sometimes you can't tell if he's joking or not. It seems he doesn't take anything seriously, and one wonders if he has ever uttered a true phrase in his life. It's not that he's a liar; in fact, he's exceedingly honest, but he has a way of spinning the truth in just such a way as to convince people to act as he wants them to, whether it's laughing at one of his jokes (even at one's own expense) or taking part in one of his half-formed business ideas.
He's highly creative, and his head is constantly spinning with new ideas for inventions, for spells, for potions. He is highly intelligent, and has the ability to put these ideas into practice, but sometimes his attention span wavers and he abandons projects mid-stream when he can't get them just right. When he does successfully complete a promising project, he will go out of his way, using his persuasive abilities, to market this project, but his schemes usually fall apart due to his lack of true business sense.
People will inevitably either like him or hate him, depending on their interactions with him. But even his jokes and his half-hearted business plans are harmless and absent of malice. Those who dislike him merely don't understand him. He actually likes most people very much, and jokes with them as a sign of affection. He likes to observe people and play on their flaws and weaknesses, which does sometimes make people uncomfortable. But he does the same with himself, which endears him to others. In general, he endeavors to make people not take themselves too seriously.
As a friend, he is extremely loyal. He will do absolutely anything for a friend. With his closest friends he often drops some of his act, revealing his more sensitive and caring personality, which he keeps hidden.

History: Tom comes from a fairly wealthy family with a countryside estate near Stratford. As the eldest brother, he got a good share of his parents' attention. His father was an Unspeakable, and the serious nature of his job probably contributed to his joking, playful, fun-loving attitude at home. He adored his children, and spent as much time as possible with them, especially Tom. This time spent with his father help build Tom's character.
His mother, meanwhile, was more serious, but no less devoted to her children. She was a warm, loving, nurturing mother, although she paid particular attention to her only daughter, Dana.
Tom went off to Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor. On the train, he met Adam, and the two have been best friends ever since. In their time, they were the popular jokesters of their house, always playing pranks, making jokes and frequently getting into trouble.
A few years later, Dana followed her brother into Hogwarts. She was sorted into Hufflepuff, but Tom still made sure to look after his little sister. Young Seymour, however, being 5 years younger than Dana, had to stay behind.
During his seventh year, however, tragedy struck. A fire broke out at his family's house in the middle of the night, and his father, mother, and little brother were all killed. Tom was devastated, but Adam and Dana were the only ones to see him cry about it. To everyone else, he put on a brave face, and turned the funeral into a glorious celebration of their lives, knowing this was just what his father would have wanted.
Since the family was well-off, Tom and Dana each received a sizable inheritance. After graduation, Tom bought a house in Hogsmeade and took in his little sister during breaks from school. When she graduated, she went into training as a medi-witch at St. Mungo's, and has since moved into an apartment of her own, but she still sees Tom regularly.
Anything else? I couldn't help it, I had to make him a sister. And I have such ideas for him... *evil laugh*
