Merlin, it was too easy.
Rabastan kept his easy, carefree stance, and he didn't worry about how he phrased the next part. He had her attention and understanding enough that he knew she wouldn't say no. It was a powerful feeling.
But he decided not to even ask. Instead, Rabastan walked towards her, closing the distance between them with a few long strides. He paused, inches from her, and finally lifted his hand to brush some of her hair back. "Relax, Callie. That angry face of yours is going to age you."

Callie was not expecting this, and as he moved closer to her, she felt frozen in place. She never would have admitted it, but in that moment, she was terrified. No, she didn't think he was going to hurt her... but having him so close to her was frightening and exhilarating at the same time. She felt like she couldn't breathe. There was a knot in her stomach, her legs felt like Jello, and her arms felt limp and heavy at her sides. She should have slapped him or pushed him away, but she was motionless.
When he spoke to her and reached out to touch her hair, she shrank away only slightly. The anger slipped from her face and was replaced by a vulnerable, confused expression.
She was a fraud. She knew it then, and she was pretty sure he knew it, too. All her tough talk, her anger and defensiveness... it was all a lie. She was just like any other girl who was attracted to the bad boy, the one she knew was bad for her.
"What do you want?" she whispered. She had wanted it to sound strong and challenging, but it sounded more like begging.

Rabastan couldn't have been more pleased at the way Callie was reacting to him. For all her big talk, she was just like any other girl.
He kept his eyes on her, and when the angry expression slipped away, he smiled. "There it is. I knew you could be pretty... That angry glare of yours if awfully off putting. "
He said nothing else. He didn't need to. She may have shied away from his touch, but she was still standing there, obviously wanting him to kiss her. So he did.
It was a surprisingly tender action, and he didn't press his luck, so he kept the moment short- hopefully with her wanting more, too. Two down, one to go.
"I'll talk to Bobby."

The moment Callie realized he was going to kiss her, she should have pushed him away. But, Merlin help her, she couldn't. And she wasn't even entirely sure she wanted to. That look in his eyes as he leaned in closer had her hypnotized, and she couldn't have moved if her life depended on it.
Her eyes closed as their lips touched, and she found herself pressing closer to him, one hand curled behind his neck. She responded all too quickly, and was just starting to kiss him back when he pulled away.
She stood there for a moment, her eyes still closed and her brain in a fog. Yes, she definitely wanted more, and she couldn't even think clearly enough yet to remember why that was a bad thing. When he spoke, however, she opened her eyes and focused on him... and realized what she had just done.
"Bobby...?" she repeated blankly. "Are... are you going to tell her what just happened?"

Rabastan couldn't help but smile when he pulled away and was all too aware that she didn't want him to. So Callie Sanders liked the attention, after all. Honestly, he expected to be slapped, but this reaction... oh, this was solid gold. He had something on her now, and she knew it. It was perfect. Playing his cards well, though, he opted not to push it now.
His smile was gone by the time her eyes opened, replaced with a look that said he just might kiss her again- though he didn't.
Her question threw him, though. "No... Callie, why would I do that? That wouldn't help either of us out right now. But I am going to tell her that she should connect with you and Linny again. She listens to me. For now."

Curse him.
If only that disgusting, smarmy smirk of hiswould come back. If only he'd start acting obnoxious again and make some slimy comment or threaten to tell the whole school about their kiss. If he had done any of those things, she could have gotten angry, she could have slapped him, yelled at him, told him to go to hell, threatened to hex him. But he didn't, and that might have been the cruelest part of it all. Because right now, she was still dazed from the kiss and feeling horribly vulnerable. He'd exposed her weakness, and she didn't know how to cover it up. She couldn't summon the anger that had always served her so well.
She knew instinctively that this moment would come back to haunt her. He wouldn't forget this... he would merely file it away and use it whenever the occasion called for it.
"Good," she breathed. What else was she supposed to say? Thank you?
She dimly realized that she'd been right all along, when she accused him of "going for the trifecta," but even that couldn't quite make her angry enough right now. She was too close to tears.
"That was my first kiss," she whispered brokenly. Then, before he could say or do anything else, she turned and ran towards the castle.
