In the year 1812, England was in a state of political turmoil. King George III had been declared legally insane, and his son, known as the Prince Regent, ruled the country in his stead. England was embroiled in not one, but two wars--one with France (The first of the Napoleonic Wars) and one with the newly-formed United States of America (The War of 1812). But for the aristocrats and landed gentry in the English countryside, it was a time of innocence, leisure, and decadence. For a young lady born of a good family, the political situations of the outside world were of much less importance than finding a good husband. And "it is a truth, universally acknowledged that a single man, in possession of good fortune, must be in want of a wife...." Join us as we attempt to recreate the world of Jane Austen--strong heroines, amiable gentlemen, unscrupulous scoundrels, and charming romances. About Us: Prudence is a unique roleplay aimed at Jane Austen enthusiasts. The level is decidedly advanced, as we would like to keep as close to Jane Austen's tone and writing style as we possibly can. There is no minimum word count, as the focus must be of quality, not quantity. Members may create their own characters, or choose from a list of "suggested" characters, to help begin their own Austenian romance. Please, stop by for a visit, won't you? Yep, this is mine. I built it a few months ago and just sat on it for a while, but I'm trying to get it going now. So far, I am the only member...

I've been on a Jane Austen kick all summer. Until this year, I had only ever read Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility (I had a fancy leather-bound version with just those three books combined). So I decided to read the others... and this board was the result. Lol. I even read her unfinished works! Now I'm re-reading Emma... I kinda debated how strict I wanted to be about the language. I want to try and get close, but it's hard to do, even for me! Lol. So as long as it's sort of close, it'll probably be fine.

I still have to read more than Pride and Prejudice... I started Persuasion but didn't finish it; I got caught up with moving and re-reading the Harry Potter series. Lol. Maybe one day I'll read more Austen and join this site, although it feels like I'm stalking you to other rp sites now, Andi.

We love Andi. Haha. It's kind of a bad thing (well for some, not me) but if we all follow Andi it might turn out like this site where 10 people have 300 some odd different people.

Haha. Stalk me all you want! (I also have a Charmed site in the works, if anyone's interested...) Although I really need to get back to Wizard's First Rule... I've kind of abandoned it again. Very bad.
I'm going to try not to have tons and tons of characters there, but I'm already starting off on a bad note, with three characters, plus the admin account. But I wanted a heroine, a hero (not to go together), and a "bad girl." And if we finish off our character's stories, we might want to make new characters to keep things going.

I was thinking of making Jennsen over at Wizard's First Rule in hopes it would bring some of the people back if there were another canon character to thread with. I believe whoever played her before didn't come back, but I could be wrong...
Is it bad that I've already begun drafting a character for Prudence? I started her right after you posted the ad for the site... my character creation addiction is not only for this site, it seems! Lol

Jennsen would be a good character for you. The original one never did come back. And haha... Character addiction is a dangerous thing...
