Lulu had never been the most pleasant girl in the world, but lately, she had been even more crabby than usual. Whether she would admit it or not, Danica Krizova's disappearance had hit Lulu very hard. If anyone had asked her, she probably would have said that it was because she no longer had the brunette to pick on and argue with, but in reality, she argued with pretty much everyone else, too. Secretly, she missed the other girl, who she had always envied for her close relationship with her mother.
Today she was sitting by the fire, throwing little bits of crumpled parchment into the flames and watching them burn.

Angelina smith, a first year with short curly brown hair and delicate hands and feet watched Lulu destroy parchment. "Hey! Thats good parchment I could use for my report!" Angelina hissed at her. She had always thought Lulu was a rich, stuck up princess like girl and NEVER stood up for her even when she was right.

Lulu was still sulking, but at the sound of the other girl's voice, she turned around in her seat. Her eyes were flashing wildly as she glared at Angelina. Of course she recognized the girl. Since they were both first year Gryffindors, they shared a dorm room... one which was a lot emptier now without Danica.
Lulu scowled at the girl. "So. It's only parchment. Besides, I'm sure your stupid essay would be a bigger waste of parchment than what I'm doing."

Anger flared inside her. She knew if she let Lulu get away with it this time, she would get away with it every other time. "Well, at least I will be working hard on my essay which looks like you've never done!" she spat at her and Glared at Lul back with eyes as slits.
If Angelina could, she would use the levitation spell on Lulu ( which she learned from an older student ) and then tear HER apart and throw her into the fire.
Suddenly Angelina realized this wasn't like her. She didn't normal have such violent thoughts but Lulu sure could bring out the worst in her. Oh, one day. She thought, One day I'll get her back.

Cleo had just finished studying in the library for a very important test in Defense Against the Dark Arts. In general, Cleo hated studying, but since Defense was her favorite class, she usually put a little more effort into her work for that class than for any other.
Now she was tired and looking forward to taking a break in the common room. It was the hour before dinner, and, being a nice day, a lot of the students were likely to be outside enjoying the warm sunny weather they'd been having. Cleo hoped that would mean she would get a chance to be alone in the common room.
But as she walked into the common room, she saw two first years, who looked like they were about to go for each others' throats. She stood there for a minute, surveying the situation, then perched her hands on her hips in an attempt to look stern.
"Hey, hey, hey," she said in a mild tone, "am I going to have to break you two kids up?"

Angelina looked at the third year. She thought she was pretty, but then she also thought SHE was pretty. "Well, if little princess Lulu hadn't been wasting a bundle of parchment I could hasused for my report we wouldn't have a problem at all!" she spat and suddenly felt riduculous in her pajamas. They were spagetti-straped red silk pajamas with yellow stars on them. She knew dinner was in an hour but she was taking a small cat nap before Lulu had been caught red- handed.

Lulu rolled her eyes and sighed dramatically. "Oh, please," she said loudly. "This is my parchment, bought with my money, given to me by my father. So no... you couldn't have used it to write your essay, because it's my parchment and I can do what I want with it! You're the one who had to come along and stick your big fat nose into my business!"
Just to prove her point, she crumpled another piece of parchment and hurled it into the fire. "Why don't you just go find your own stupid parchment, anyway?"
Some people would probably say that destroying things that her parents had given her or bought her was just further proof of how spoiled she was, because she always knew they'd buy her more. But that was just the problem. The only way her parents ever showed her any interest was when they were competing to buy her things. And it wasn't the things she wanted; she wanted the attention. And when she didn't get it, she destroyed things and threw fits... whatever it took for them to notice her, at least for a little while.

Angelia glared at her. Her anger boiled up so much she used a spell that she read about at the library but suspected she might get in trouble for using it. The spell took the parchment from the fire and put it bck together. Then she used another spell to turn it into ash above Lulu's head so it ruined her hair and everything she was wearing and gave her black smudges on her face. Angelina cackled. It felt great to get back at Lulu.

Cleo, meanwhile, stood and watched this from the doorway. Shaking her head, she choked back a laugh. "That's what you guys are fighting about? Parchment paper?"
She supposed she had gotten into little arguments with other students about little things like that when she was a first year, but she could hardly remember being that young now, even though she was only a few years older than the girls.
"Hey, um... Angelina? Is that your name? I have some extra parchment in my bag if you need it." It seemed like a good idea to get the girl away from Lulu before the blonde blew her top.

"Thanks." she grumbled. Then stopped herself. She knew she shouldn't be acting this way. "I'm sorry." she said to Cleo. "I just got so mad at Lulu. I know parchment isn't as big of a deal but she does get me so mad." Angelina confessed and smiled.
Angelina felt like she was under a lot of pressure with her different classes and homework, but most of all with making friends. Some girls she liked, but they might not like her. Or other girls she just didn't like. Well, when Lucy started acting crabby Angelina sort of felt like EVERYTHING was going wrong in her life.

Cleo shrugged, and leaned in a little closer to Angelina. "Well, she is a brat," she agreed. "She doesn't get along with anyone, really. Come on, let me get you that parchment."
She led the girl over to a table on the opposite side of the room from Lulu, and put her backpack down on the table. She opened it up and pulled out some blank parchments, then handed them to Angelina. With a sigh she sat down and rubbed ger head. That study session in the library had taken more out of her than she realized, and it felt good to close her eyes.
"It's hard to be a first year, isn't it?" she said, smiling tiredly at the girl. "I remember when I started, I was just so overwhelmed by everything. Don't worry, that part will get easier and you'll make friends."

Angelina gratefully took the parchment. "Yeah, it is hard. Ecspecially because my whole family is just muggles, except me of course." she said and yawned. She was starving so she started walking to Dining Hall. "Coming, myself, I'm starved!" she announced as her belly grumbled. She felt skinny as a stick in her robes but wore them any way. Her cat, Mimi, stood in the door way. "Mimi, get lost." she said but not in a mean way, in a joking way. The cat ran off to chase a mouse and Angelina blew a kiss after her.
