(I thought I'd help you out by starting a thread so you could break in your new character.)
It was Kellie's favorite time of day. There was still an hours until dinner, and the common room was mostly empty as the other students finished up their classes or spent some time outside or working in the library. Kellie should have been doing library work herself, but she just wasn't in the mood. She just wanted to relax by the fire with a good book.
She had just started a new book that she had ordered from a bookstore in London, and she was already getting drawn into it. At this rate, she would have the book finished in a couple of days. And then she'd have to find a way to get ahold of another one. It didn't feel right to Kellie if she didn't have a new book to read.
Leaning her head back on the sofa, Kellie adjusted her position so that she was lying across the sofa and was holding the book propped up on a pillow in front of her. The room was getting steadily quieter as students slowly began to slip out of the room, heading off to do Merlin only knows what. Kellie barely noticed. She was too absorbed in her book.
After a while, the only sound seemed to be the crackling of the fire and the sound of her own page turns. Slowly, she sat up and looked around. It wouldn't be the first time when she read right through dinner.
"Hello?" she called."Anyone else here?"

((thank you!! just noticed this!! and i was about to make a post for them too hahaha))
Julia was exaughsted from a long week of school. She finished her classes in a robot mindset and found herself in the common room with less than an hour before dinner. She was highly considering skipping dinner and just slipping into bed early. But she couldn't do that simply because she was looking forward to seeing Thaddeus.
She sat on her favorite sofa and noticed her friend Kellie sitting nearby with her head in a book. Normally she would have said 'hello', but she wasn't in the mood for talking at the moment. She curled up on the sofa and pulled a throw blanket over her. She figured she could just rest her eyes for a moment before heading down to dinner.
Just as she was falling asleep, she heard Kellie speak up. She sat up and smiled sleepily at her. "Hey Kellie. New book?" She asked, trying to keep her eyes open. She sat up straighter and rubbed her eyes before glancing at the clock. Fifteen minutes until dinner.

At the sound of Julia's voice, Kellie turned, looking around until she saw her fellow redhead rubbing her eyes. "Hey, Jules," she said. "I didn't even hear you come in.... I guess I lost track of time."
Closing the book, she stretched her arms and turned to face Julia, her hair glowing in the firelight. "Yeah, it's pretty good. I got totally sucked in... I don't even know how long I've been reading. I didn't miss dinner, did I?"

Julia laughed at her friend. She leaned to the side a bit to catch a glance of the book Kellie was reading. Julia loved books. It was probably the only reason she felt she fit properly in Ravenclaw. Other than that, she kind of felt like a Gryffindor because of the way she acted. She was always reading though and always learning more. She exelled in most of her classes because she was always abosorbing information. "What are you reading? I might snag it when you're done." She grinned at Kellie and sat back.
"Nah, we've still got about fifteen minutes. I can't wait. I haven't seen Thad all day." Julia said, getting that stary look in her eye as she always did when she talked about her boyfriend, Thaddeus. They were still a relatively new couple so she was always happy to see him. She was still curious what her friends thought of him, being a Slytherin and all.

Kellie, unlike her sisters, believed that if you could not say something nice about someone, it was best to say nothing at all. On the subject of Thaddeus Avery, therefore, Kellie had nothing to say. It took a great effort, in fact, to keep her face straight, instead of allowing it to twist into a distasteful grimace.
It was much easier to focus on the book she was reading. "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall," she replied, holding the book up for Julia to see. "Have you heard of it? It's by Anne Bronte."
The subject of the book was considered by some to be rather shocking, especially considering the time it was written. But Kellie privately wondered whether Julia might identify with the story. Yes, she's only just started seeing the Slytherin boy, but if the rumors about him were true, Julia's relationship was not likely to remain a happy one.
