• musician/band: Conor only listens to orchestras, per his parents’ demands
• movie: The valentines only attend proper theatre.
• book: For Conor, books are only conduits for knowledge, he has no favourite.
• food: Roast
Personality: Conor is, to a T, a vision of efficiency. He rarely wastes even his breath, only to patronize others to discourage any future attempts to waste his time. His folks have bred him to be proud and a respectable young wizard, though his lack of patience on those he deems as “idiots” is not something he ever plans on correcting. Feeling superiour to most of his other classmates and even some of his instructors, he often keeps to himself and power reads tome upon tome to increase his skills in his true passion, to be a champion duelist, against his parents pushes to pursue more scholarly endeavors.
He has no prejudice towards blood types nor heritage. Be someone pure-blood or poor or powerful, he’ll despise everyone just as equally if he thinks them stupid. Beaten into his head since birth, the Valentines believe that it isn’t a man’s actions nor honor that makes him, it’s his IQ. Although, the renown of one’s family does often help their outlook on people. As a result, sporting and other various athletic ventures are lost on Conor, who doesn’t even know how to throw a ball correctly. Perhaps he’s self conscience of these shortcomings, and is the drive to his academic perfection.
He speaks in crystal clear King’s Own, articulate and perfectly accented. He’d do well in either Slytherin or Ravenclaw, according to the Sorting Hat. He has shown copious amounts of both intelligence, foresight and cunning, especially while dueling, often dispatching his opponents, in only a few short casts, using his obscene knowledge of the art of dueling to an almost unfair advantage. He’s recently been researching a strange Norse sort of “Heathenistic Short Tongue,” casting instead of the spells taught at Hogwarts classes, but the ancient, feral spells that they are based on. The short, one syllable casts offer a quicker cast time, but with wild and often sporadic effects if not spoken in perfect tongue. But alas, most of the tomes are written in ancient runes that he has not yet mastered, thus he is far from mastering these techniques.
History: The Valentines, a wealthy, proud family in the wizarding community have been actively neutral in the pious battle against Voldemort. Proudly touting their indifference towards Him, his followers, and those against Him. Stating that the Valentines are a family to themselves and other meddlings do not concern them, though they are among the few whom are entirely indifferent between the rivaling factions, they often associate with other higher class families, both pure and half-blooded, As long as He isn’t spoken to them.
Conor, growing up in such an environment, often has little interest in the world news or things that don’t directly affect him or his family. Although, he secretly does yearn to meet the dark lord some day, to test his dueling mettle against one of the most powerful wizards. He’s won countless dueling contests and is revered among his family as the “Crown Jewel of the Valentines.” Paired with his skill, title, and intelligence, Conor feels as though there is nothing he can not accomplish, first, and better than anyone else.
Although, there was an incident during his second year, where he was proven wrong in an argument, Conor was devastated, he didn’t attend class for a few days and refused to speak to anyone, save to write to his sister, Carly. He’s recently been more careful and meticulous in his research, to avoid such a traumatizing event from happening in the future.
RP Sample: Conor sighs, I cannot believe that I have to take this stupid class. A poor half-blood named James Terricraw hollers for Professor Simple, Conor groans into his book, not this nitwit again. “Miss Simple, are these flower petals edible, because I think I ate a few on accident and now I feel all wonky!” his voice breaking and trembling. Conor whipped around in his chair before Enid could reply, “ No, James,” Conor spoke coolly, “These petals are from the Snake Root Flower, and they are not edible, had you been paying attention or had any inkling of a brain in your skull,” Conor’s voice began to rise, “you’d know not to accidentally eat a stupid flower petal, you stupid lit-“ Conor lips became stone, he turned around to see Professor Simple’s stare and the tip of her wand.
“Mister Valentine, detention. Also you’ve lost speaking privileges for the rest of class. And Mister Terricraw, to answer your question…” Conor stopped listening, furious that he let that idiot get to him enough to break his composure, and also that he had detention, he wanted to spend his free time in the restricted section this afternoon. He was still hungering to learn more of this ancient Norse casting style…
