Conor, slinked to about the wall of the library. carefully ensuring no one saw him as he slipped into the restricted section. He knew he was in broad daylight, but his interest was piqued, he had to know more, he had to master this spell if it killed him! he silently crept to the shelf that held the Norse tomes.
they were probably in the restricted section because of the contents. he read in one of them about the Norse shamans and witches with so much blood and slaughter, it was unappetizing. Conor was indifferent to these stories, but knew that no child should read these stories. but he wasn't looking to be naughty and read things he shouldn't, we was looking for insight.
He was so intrigued by these Short-Tongue methods ever since he heard Mister Rothschild mention is in Dueling. He practically drooled as his fingers danced over their ancient spines. his palms began to sweat, O how wondrous those Heathens were I am! he thought to himself. Aside of their brutality of course. He took a step back and surveyed the mass of volumes on the shelf. "All this knowledge is mine and mine alone," he cackled.

Zoe practically lived in the library these days. Although she had seemed to be improving socially for a while, it wasn't hard for her to fall back into her old fanatical study habits. Gryffin had shown an interest in her for a while, but he had since disappeared, and she was alone once again. Which meant that she had nothing to distract her from her relentless pursuit of perfection. And with exams coming up in a month, it was never too soon to begin studying for them.
Today, however, she was working on a paper for Ancient Runes. Professor St. Clare's class was probably her favorite, and she often went out of her way to work on assignments for it. After hearing the Professor mention something about the "Lost Runes," Zoe had to find out more about them. The only way to do that was in the Restricted section. Armed with a permission parchment from the Professor, Zoe was now wandering the Restricted section in search of information about the Lost Runes.
She was unknowingly sitting crosslegged on the floor of the aisle just behind Conor. She would never have known about his presence at all, if his voice hadn't startled her out of her library-induced haze. But she did hear him, and the disembodied voice coming seemingly out of nowhere made her jump and drop the book she was holding.
"W-who's there?" she said, thinking for a moment that she was hearing the voice of some long-forgotten spirit.
