Ashelia stood by the lake as a gust of wind blew past her; she closed her eyes and sighed happily.
her mind went back to a time back home, when her family was still together. that was before all the trouble started....
~flashback~
"Shelly!" Irena, cried, running towards her. she tackled Ashelia and brought them bother to the ground. Gosia stood nearby, laughing at Irena's endless energy.
"Shelly, i found a robyn!" Irena, then 7, pulled on her sisters hand in her haste to show her.
Ashelia awoke from her daydream and sighed again; her family had been so beautiful back then...now the only member of her family she was in contact with was her brother, who was her best friend; her mother was cruel, Gosia hated her, and Irena followed whatever Gosia did.
she stepped forward until her feet were in the water, the cold liquid covering her feet. she smiled a little, enjoying the sensation. she reached down and took a handful of water, and brought it to her face.
she got out of the water and started walking around the lake, admiring its beauty.

Genevieve was wandering nearby, having completely forgotten what she was doing out here. She knew she wasn't meeting with Lance or Josh or Eve, but she had come outside for a reason, she was certain. But she had gotten distracted when she spotted a pretty bird building a nest in a small tree close to the front entrance, and then she found herself wandering near the lake.
It was not unusual for Genevieve to get distracted in this way and wind up some place she didn't expect. She was usually more clear-headed when she was with her friends, but they were all in class now, and--oh! She was supposed to be in class, too. Of course, this didn't explain why she was wandering by the lake without any books in her hands, and she wasn't even sure which class she was supposed to be in without her class schedule and a calendar to remind her what day it was.
Frustrated with herself, Genevieve walked close to the edge of the lake, staring into the water. Since she wasn't watching where she was going, which was also rather typical for her, she didn't even notice that there was another girl walking along the water's edge until she collided with the girl.
"Oh!" she gasped, as she fell back onto the soft, sandy earth. "I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention again... Are you all right?"

Ashelia fell back int the water as the other girl ran into her. she sat up, soaking wet, and laughed.
"no,no its alright.i should be more careful of other people."
she stood, shook herself off, almost like a puppy, and held her hand to the girl. Im Ashelia. you can call me Shelly if you like."

Genevieve giggled nervously. She felt horrible, of course, that the other girl had fallen into the water, and it was all her fault. She almost felt like she should jump into the water herself, so that she would be as wet as the other girl was, but she didn't. She just stood there awkwardly, her hands in her robe pockets.
"No, really, it was my fault. I was just not watching where I was going... I wasn't even really going anywhere in particular. I do that sometimes, just wander around... I'm really sorry."
She took the other girl's hand in hers and shook it lightly. "It's nice to meet you, Ashe.... Ash... Um... Shelly." She giggled. "My name's Genevieve, but you can call me Viv. Everyone does."

Ashelia laughed at the other girls attempt to say her name. " its pernounced ash-ee-li-a. but its alright, noone can really say it."
she smiled when she heard her name." thats so pretty, ive never heard that name before. its really unique."
she laughed. " i wasn't really going anywhere either, it weas just so nice out. i was gonna bring my sketch pad to draw, but..." she blushed with embarressment. "i forgot it when i left."

Genevieve smiled. "Thank you," she said. "I was actually named after my grandmother, so it's not that unique... but I like it."
She felt a bit foolish, because she really had lost track of time, and she was quite sure she wasn't supposed to be out here right now. But she wouldn't have come outside without a reason, would she? She tried to think... Maybe today she was supposed to be in Herbology? Or was it Care of Magical Creatures? No... wait. Maybe she had intended to meet Lance and the others at Hagrid's hut?
"I forget stuff all the time," she said, both in answer to Ashelia's comment and her own confused state. "I can't even remember why I came outside. I swear, I'd forget my head if it weren't attached to my neck!"

Ashelia laughed. "you know what's funny? my mother used to say the very same thing about me and my brother."
she smiled at the explanation of her name. " i think that's neat. im named after a slavic goddess, Ashezleva, which is a pretty common name in my country." she thought a moment; hadnt she brought something? she looked around her and caught sight of something glistening.
she bent down to pick up her rign and smiled, just sitting. "not remembering why you came out is better then having no reason at all."

Genevieve thought about that for a moment. She supposed in a way, it made sense. She'd had a reason for coming out here, and even if she couldn't remember what it was, at least she wasn't just wandering out here for no reason. Did people do that? But if she couldn't remember the reason, than maybe she hadn't really had a reason after all. She frowned, as her head was starting to hurt.
"I wish Lance was here. I feel sort of lost without him. Is that weird?"

Ashelia cocked her head to the side, a smile playing on her lips.
"well, i dont know anyone named Lance. but i know what you mean and no, it's not weird."
she twisted the little silver ring on her finger. "i feel the same way about my brother."

Genevieve giggled. Talking about Lance always made her feel light inside, like she was full of feathers, if that made any sense at all. "Lance is only my best friend... and, well... I guess he's sort of my boyfriend. We've never really used the word exactly... but it's like we don't have to. The words aren't really important, you know? We know how we feel."
In fact, her feelings for Lance and his feelings for her were pretty much the only two things in the world Genevieve was ever really sure about. Most of the time, she was just wandering about in a fog... but Lance was her light guiding her way.
"I feel like I was supposed to meet him somewhere, but I can't remember where. Honestly, I'd write these things down, but then I'd just forget where I left my notes."
