Dinner in the Great Hall was always a very noisy event. Ariesa hated it, but had always managed to survive. The noise tended to just overlap each other, so nothing clear ever really came across, making it easier for her to ignore it. It wasn't like lunch, which, because of people coming and going, was a medium range noise. It aloud every word around her to be heard. Dinner was just a dull roar, making it easy for her to concentrate on reading while she ate.
Only tonight, it wasn't that way. Earlier in the week, she had run across a Gryffindor student, Ian. More he had run across her out in the court yard and decided it would be fun to stick around and talk to her, or make fun of her. Ever since, she had this unending loathing for him.
It was making it so she couldn't concentrate and, after reading the same line over and over, interrupted only by her glancing up and glaring at him sitting at the Gryffindor table, she finally slammed her book shut and growled. The second year sitting next to her scooted down on the bench a little further.
She muttered something under her breath and just sat there, glaring across the Great Hall at him. He was an insufferable prat and the fact that he had gotten to her bothered her even more than that.
