Niela is a headstrong girl and the Irish blood runs rampant through her veins. She loves running around and being active, and often gets into a lot of trouble. She can be stubborn to a fault and that stubbornness often gets her into a lot more trouble. She is quick to anger when things aren’t working out the way she believes they need to. She is very vocal about what she thinks of things. If she doesn’t like something, she makes sure people know it.
History:
Niela was born in Athlone, a small town about an hour and a half outside of Dublin, Ireland, along with her twin sister, Cassidy. Their Muggle mother raised the two girls. Their father was always away on business of some sort. Nothing he ever explained to the two girls. Their parents were not together and they barely spent any time around their father.
Growing up, Cassidy was always the more social one at their school. She was always the one to get the good grades and the attention during social situations. Niela was typically just in the back, causing problems. She really didn’t care that much. It mostly just irritated her when their father would visit and would pay more attention to Cassidy.
In truth, their father was a wizard and, because of Cassidy’s academic history, he believed that she would be the one to show signs of being magical.
But it was Niela who was first to show signs of it. One day, at ten years old, the girls were off playing in a field near their house with a few friends. Cassidy and her friends decided they wanted to play hide and seek, with Niela as the seeker. What they actually wanted to do was ditch Niela and go hang out further into the forest.
Well, just as Niela started counting, the girls started running, all in the same direction. Seconds after they started running, Niela heard their many footsteps headed in the same direction and knew what was going on. She got mad then, suddenly, the girls couldn’t move their legs. Niela, not understanding what was going on, heard them stop running and continued counting quickly. When she turned to tag them, they hadn’t gotten very far.
Confused, but young, Niela tagged Cassidy to be it next. As Cassidy started counting, Niela ran off to hide. She dodged inside of a hollowed out tree and climbed up a little bit inside of it.
Cassidy searched for her sister, as did the others, for an hour before they gave up. They had even passed by the tree several times to try to find her, trying to remember where the hollow tree was, but couldn’t find it.
What had happened was that vines and plants had grown over the entrance into the hollow tree, masquerading it so that none of the other girls could find it, keeping Niela well hidden. Not even Niela understood it.
All she knew is that, after that day, when her father had come home that month, Cassidy had told him about it and he started paying more attention to Niela for a while. He started explaining magic to her and showing her a few tricks. He told her not to do it in front of her mother or sister, because it was their secret. Finally, Niela was getting the attention that she wanted from her father and had a secret that set her apart from her sister.
But it didn’t last long enough.
Six months after the Hide and Seek incident, Cassidy was mad at Niela because she had been getting all of Daddy’s attention over the past few months. She had taken Niela’s pet mouse, that her father had actually gotten her to practice some color changing spells on, and, out of its cage. She was just playing with it but was still rather upset at her sister and father. She glared and started yelling at the mouse, as if it was her sister, when suddenly the mouse turned into a bouquet of flowers.
Niela was very upset that her pet mouse had been turned into something else and held it against her sister for a long time. Even more so because it meant that she was no longer the special twin, again.
When the girls turned 11, they both received letters to Hogwarts, where, even now, Cassidy was the one with all the friends.
Despite vastly disliking her sister, Niela is still very protective of her. Cassidy always tended to be too trusting of a person and Niela always had to come to her aid.
