It was quiet, for once, in the Courtyard of the entrance to the school. It was Saturday afternoon and most of the students were still in the Great Hall, eating lunch and talking with friends. The front entrance would still be rather noisy, but the large doors of the castle kept the noise from exiting out into the courtyard.
That is where Ariesa sat, on the ledge of one of the openings in the wall. She was near the entrance to the bridge, sitting on the outer wall, looking out over the cliff edge towards the lake. Lunacy, her large barn owl, was flying about near her, over the cliff and back again. A plate of food sat in front of Arie. It had a good amount of meat on it, that she was feeding to Lunacy, and some cheese and bread as well. A book sat open in front of her, as well. Another book of Transfiguration.
She pulled her wand out and chanted something, pointing it at the meat. A second later, the cooked beef transformed into non cooked rabbit meat. She held it up and Lunacy flew back to take the meat from her hand, before flying off again. Ariesa continued her quiet watching over the lake.

No one was around so Ian took the moment to sink down on the grass and just relax. He had written his mother a few days ago, but he hadn't heard from her. Apparently she was too busy to answer him. It was always disappointing to see everyone else have owls come in and drop things for them from home. Ian never got anything and no one said anything about it. Sometimes he'd get a small something for Christmas, but that was about it.
Ian sighed and attempted to relax. He liked to be alone, but then again he didn't. When he was alone, his mind wondered yet when he was with someone else, he had to put on a mask. Sure, it would probably be easier if he just let someone know something, but that was a negative. No one was going to know because he hadn't found anyone he felt close to.
Feeling his stomach growl, Ian stood up and started walking toward the bridge. His foot steps making a light sound as his walked across the wooden bridge. As he made his way back, he realized that he didn't feel like dining with other people. He could be alone and then later on go to the kitchens. His stomach could hold off for that long.
Noticing a girl standing at the wall, Ian figured it would be a good way to waste time. "You know it's not good to sit on the wall like that, you could fall off."

It was quiet. Nice and quiet. Her mind wandered from the book to her owl without the interruption of other noises. It was...
Ruined...
The sudden speech directed at her startled her, making her drop the bit of meat she had been holding up for Lunacy. The owl swooped down over the side of the cliff after it, disappearing just beyond the edge.
Ariesa turned around quickly to look at who had spoken to her. It was Ian, one of the Gryffindor boys. He was in her year and they had a few classes together, but she doubted that he even knew who she was. Probably for the better, in her opinion. He had never said anything to her, and she had equaled his courtesy. Then again, she never really spoke to anyone.
Her eyes darted around for something to distract him or her from each other's presence. Then, shockingly to both of them, she spoke, her American accent showing through.
"I.. shouldn't you.. be inside with the rest of your house?"
Even she looked a bit shocked that she had spoken. In her own mind, she was yelling at herself. Those words were only said to fill silence. It was very unlike her. And, in her opinion, she had sounded completely stupid.

Yeah, he did reconize her but her name didn't come into play, nor her house. However, he wasn't exactly the most observate person all of the time. Ian leaned against the wall.
"Shouldn't you," he countered with an eyebrow raised. Ian didn't know much about this girl but it didn't matter. It was a distraction and procrastation. Two things that Ian was good at finding.
He crossed his arms over his chest. "Besides it doesn't hurt to stray away every once in awhile."

Well, of all the... she narrowed her eyes at him as he leaned against the wall. Apparently, she was not getting rid of him so easily. She turns her head away from him, grabbing her book.
"I don't like people."
Her answer was simple and took up as little of her precious silence as possible.
Hm. Gryffindors. Pretentious jerks as far as she was concerned. Although, her house was no better. But at least they didn't have a holier than thou attitude to them.

"Well now that sounds like a personal problem," he said a light smirk on his face. Ian couldn't help it. It was his way of coping. "And if you don't like people, I think you're in the wrong place sweetheart." His light smirk grew a little.
This girl's attitude was just adding fuel to the fire. Once he was going, it was hard for him to stop. It was just natural. "And with your nose in a book, that could cause unwanted attention if you're not careful."

Great, and now he was making her feel self-conscious. Was her constant avoiding everyone and trying not to be noticed getting her noticed? Or was he just pushing buttons.
She let out an irritated huff and quickly closed her book on her lap, before looking up at him. She cracked her neck as her eyes went into a slight glare.
"Is there something you need, or is harassment just your specialty?"
She had seen him trying to be the bad boy around the school before. Bully the bullies, things like that. He was attention starved, as far as she was concerned. She never wanted even the attention he was showing her. And honestly, it scared her. Any sort of attention scared her. Even when its just a teacher calling on her to answer a question. She liked being in Slytherin, not just because of how well it fit her, but also because those in Slytherin were often ignored because professors were always worried they would answer with some smart alec remark.
But this Gryffindor prat decided that he wanted to bring attention to her. Why, Merlin's Beard, why?

Ian was just being Ian. He knew how to push different people's buttons and this girl was no different. Ariesa's huff made another smirk grow on his face.
"Well, I wouldn't really call it harrassment. I just call it entertainment and procrastination." Ian's smirk turned into a grin. Yes, he knew he was bothering her but that was the whole point. He liked to see people get irriated sometimes. Of course, there were other times when he hated when people got irriated with him. This time it was completely intention, however.
"What's your name?"

Ariesa was growing more and more irritated by the second with him. It was actually very uncharacteristic of her. Emotions were something she usually had pretty good control over. But this.. boy was just pushing every button he could find on her.
Ariesa stood up to face him. She was actually a lot shorter than him than she had hoped. By a few inches actually. She was hoping to try to intimidate him back, but that obviously wasn't going to work. So she just stared indignantly at him.
Her name. He wanted to know her name. And why would she tell him that? He was just some Gryffindork jerk that like harassing her.
"Ariesa.."
Why on earth did she tell him that? In her own mind, she was yelling at herself for being stupid. She quickly tried to make up for it by making another comment. Why was she being this stupid around him?
"And your Ian, one of the Gryffindork jerks. Anything else?"
It was obvious she was getting flustered with herself, let alone what he was doing.

He was amused that she even stood up, let alone right in front of him. "A Gryffindork jerk, huh? That hurts, it really does." Ian put a hand on his heart and gave her a frown. Obviously it was a fake frown because it didn't last long.
His frown turned into a grin. "I'm surprised you know me Ariesa." Ian gave her a wink. "I have to say, you're one of the better people I met. You have a little attitude to you, don't you?" He laughed.

Ariesa was furious. Actually, this is about the most emotion she had ever remembered herself getting. Over some stupid boy that meant nothing. She wasn't sure if she should walk away, hit him or yell at him. Maybe a spell. No, that would get her into trouble.
She calculated through the odds as quickly as she could. No one had ever gotten to her this badly. Why this guy? She scowled up at him before grabbing her bag and book and starting to stalk off. She paused a second and turned to say something, but thought better of it.
Ariesa turned and stormed off down the bridge towards the rest of the grounds. She had every intention of going to the one place she figured no one would bother her.
"Maybe I'll get some peace and quiet in the Forest..." she said to Lunacy as he flew after her.
