Personality (At least 4 sentences, but longer is preferred):
Ariesa is a very withdrawn person. She is more often then not sitting away from people and watching them from a distance. She seems more like an observer in a group than an actual participant in any activity. She tends to have a rather negative outlook on life and often plays the devils advocate.
History (At least 4 sentences):
Ariesa d’Veldrin (Arie for short) was raised in America by her mother. As a single parent, her mother did what she could to make sure that Arie’s life was as easy as possible for her. Her father had disappeared even before her mother had known she was pregnant. When asked who he is, her mother would simply shrug and change the subject. It had proved, over time, to become an ever growing source of irritation to Arie as her mother refused to give her any details about her father.
Ariesa’s mother was a witch from Europe, but Arie was born in America. Her mother had never mentioned witchcraft to Arie and kept it from her as often as possible. But there are some secrets that can only be kept for so long.
When Arie was very young, she had shown signs of being attuned to Magic. Ending up with her crib unlocked and half way across the room before her mother could turn around, changing the dog’s fur color and various other acts of magic.
As she grew older, her mother taught her to subdue her emotions in order to make it so that random acts of magic stopped happening and so her daughter wouldn’t take notice of these, as she grew older. For many years, she was completely unaware of any sort of magical ability that she possessed until one day she was being harassed at school by her classmates.
In school, because of being taught to subdue her emotions, she was picked on and pushed around. She ignored it for the most part. That was until she was ten. One day, in the school yard, the children took up their favorite game to play, poke fun at Arie. But this time it was a bit different. They were being ruthless this time, poking at her and pushing her. Finally, one of them picked up a rock and threw it at her. It hit her straight across the head, knocking her to the ground.
A moment later, every child around her was either being bounced up and down in the air by nothing or there was no longer a child there, but some sort of small animal. It took the wizarding authorities three days to fix everything and rewrite a few minds of what happened.
Ariesa’s mother decided it was time to leave America and packed up their things. The next month, they were in England’s backcountry in a small apartment. It was small and quiet except for Ariesa’s questioning at first. After a week, though, her mother forbid her from asking anything else. She claimed it was just a trick of her mind after being hit so hard in the head.
That lie, as well, did not last long. Two months later, Arie’s 11th birthday came around and a letter came for her in the mail. Her mother had stayed home that day specifically to try to keep that letter from getting to Arie. But, as always with Hogwarts, a letter always finds its way to the recipient. And it was not long after that she was gathered up and taken to Hogwarts for wizard training.
Even though the schooling was much different than the muggle schools she had been to previously, the lifestyle was not. She still remained the quiet, withdrawn child she had been raised to be. Her dark looks grew more severe as she grew within the walls of that school. Now, in her 5th year, she watches, distantly, the other kids running about with their friends and just actively avoids contact with them. The, seemingly, only companion she is seen with is Lunacy, her common barn owl.
RP Sample:
Arie sits under the shade of one of the great trees in the courtyard of Hogwarts, Lunacy perched on the root beside her. A book is held in Arie’s left hand and her right is stroking the bird’s chest with her forefinger. Her eyes dart back and forth across the book, quietly.
A group of 2nd years burst through the front doors and bound, noisily, down the steps past her, startling the bird, who ruffles his feathers, obviously irritated by the sudden movement and noise.
Ariesa looks up from her book with a slightly glaring look at the receding backs of the 2nd years. She then looks calmly back at Lunacy, shushing his hooting.
“Sh… I know. Calm down…”
