Brilliant in it's own way still Faith could only find one word to describe London: Dull.
In comparison to the rich colors and glittering streets of Asia and India, England with it's desaturated hues seemed so lifeless and boring. The Avalon was different in it's magnificence but still so off putting by it's opulence. She stood in what others would consider a much too vibrant Sari waiting as Valerius secured their rooms. She didn't know why they were staying in such a nice hotel when more often than not she was comfortable sleeping outside but she didn't make the rules as Valerius often pointed out.
With an extravagant sigh she dropped her things and turned to sit on them drumming her fingers on her knee.

(Because I'm itching to find a use for this character)
In Bronwyn's line of work, it was not uncommon to move from place to place at a moment's notice. Common sense would, therefore, dictate that it would be preferable to stay at a small, dirty, hole in the wall type establishment, and certainly not at a four-star hotel. But Bronwyn didn't particularly hold to this opinion. She preferred to stay at nice places, because who would ever suspect a well-dressed woman in a nice hotel of being a killer? It was too common to expect them to stay in run-down roach motels. And besides, she worked hard for her money; what good was it if she couldn't splurge on a nice hotel room in her own home town? As long as she avoided St. Mungo's, she wouldn't see Lindsay, and she'd be safe.
Standing in the lobby, Bronwyn was waiting to be checked in. There was a man in front of her in line, and he seemed to be taking forever. But then, Bronwyn never did have a lot of patience.
She looked around the lobby and saw the other woman as she sighed dramatically and sat down on the edge of her luggage. She immediately got the very wrong impression of the girl, as being a spoiled, self-centered type of girl. Of course, this was a rather judgemental opinion, considering that she was feeling just as impatient as the other girl was, and had been forcing herself to suppress a similar sigh.
"Sorry. Are we keeping you up?" she asked.

At first she wasn't sure she was the one being spoken to, still, curious as ever Faith turned to look at who had broken the silence. Her eyes scanned the woman, " Me?" she asked rather surprised.
Really Faith was usually much more aware but boredom had really put her off her marker ever since they got to London. "No." she answered noncommittally before returning to her own world.

There really wasn't any point in starting up something with some random person in the hotel lobby, especially if they would both be staying there. It would just call attention to herself, which she really didn't need to do. But, Merlin, Bronwyn was bored. This was the first time in more than two years that she'd been in London, and there was a little part of her that actually rather hoped she'd be able to stay for a little while. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to strike up a friendship or two.
The guy in front of her was still talking to the clerk, and it didn't look like he'd be done any time soon. So Bronwyn shrugged and looked back at the girl.
"Sorry. I guess if patience is a virtue, then I am not a virtuous woman." She gave a slight laugh at this, since this statement was true on many levels. "Are you waiting here for someone?"

Faith gave a half smile over her shoulder and gestured to Valerius the man who was taking his precious time and sighed. "I must admit patience has never been one of my virtues either." she gave a half smile, "Are you new to London as well?"

Valerius was having some difficulties with the receptionist who was more interested in his looks than getting their room, not that he wasn't using that to his advantage, but it was becoming tedious and he was getting to the point where he'd rather just pay. Luckily it was later in the afternoon so there weren't that many people in line and he wasn't holding things up too badly except for the one woman behind him.
Finally after finishing the transaction he turned to face his ward, not surprised in the least that she was chatting up some stranger.

She could always tell when he was watching her, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up and told her to behave, besides who wouldn't feel his steely gaze? She turned to face him, "Oh goodie you're done." She smiled brightly and stood quickly joining him at his side.
"Did we get the rooms?"

He nodded curtly then gave her a somewhat disapproving glance. She already knew it was because she was being too social. He didn't like it when she was out of his sight or the fact that she would simply talk to anyone. Many a time he questioned why he kept her around, but it was never a serious inquiry. She was the last bit of humanity he had, and he cherished her, but worried about her as well.
"We did. We should head up, it's late and we have an early morning tomorrow."
Then he took a second glance at the woman, she was quite pretty in her own way, though he was very detached from such thoughts, but it did call to mind that he and Faith both were not dressed appropriately for the London scene.

Bronwyn had been about to answer when the man who had been standing in front of her turned and began talking to the woman. Quietly, she observed their interactions. She was used to observing people; it was one of the ways she would stalk her targets. The man was extremely good-looking, and if Bronwyn were a different type of woman he might have made her heart beat faster and her knees grow weak. But she had learned a long time ago to suppress such emotions, along with the physical reactions they produced. Instead, she could notice his good looks with the impassivity one would feel when looking at a piece of fine art from behind a glass.
There was an odd sort of interaction between the two of them; something she couldn't quite place. He held a protectiveness towards her, and yet there was sort of a hard edge to it. The man in general seemed to be a hard one to figure out, while the woman seemed more innocent.
"Well, it seems I'm up," she said, nodding to the front desk. "Enjoy your stay in London."
That was all she said; it didn't seem necessary to say more. The man didn't seem to want to be delayed, and it would not be prudent to get on his bad side.

Faith was perturbed, did he always have to emit such a doom and gloom aura? She rolled her eyes, she was twenty two years old, not a child anymore, she did not need a bedtime...though she was tired.
She turned to face the woman once again, "It was nice meeting you. Perhaps we'll run into one another again soon." she smiled. It was her way to be friendly and she saw no harm in it the way Valerius did.
Turning back to him she sighed, "Alright fine let's go."

Bronwyn smiled, but it was strained. Smiles didn't exactly come easily to her, and she had just decided in that moment, that she disliked the man. He was brusque and domineering, and, as a woman, she had a low tolerance for men who seemed to think themselves superior to women. Of course, it had been a short interaction, and maybe she was over-reacting in thinking that the man was bossing the woman around.... But still it bothered her.
"Well, we are staying in the same hotel," she replied lightly. "Chances are good that we'll see one another again. Especially if you're going to be staying a while."
For Bronwyn, this was downright friendly. It was not typical behavior for her, but perhaps the girl's disarming cheerfulness was having an effect on her. Or perhaps it was just being so close to home. It made her feel vulnerable... weak.
Before she turned back around to address the front desk clerk, she leveled a cool, detached, but vaguely disdainful look at the man. She had spent years perfecting this look, and she reserved it for those she truly disliked.

It was Faith's stern glare that made him feel churlish, he didn't even see the other girl's look. He was tired and hungry and in a town he hated more than he could possibly say. It wasn't that he didn't like the woman, it was that he didn't know her, and didn't care to get to know her unlike his counterpart who wanted to know everything and everyone, there was no tempering Faith.
Still he was a gentleman, picking up all the bags, and giving the woman a curt nod.

Faith smiled letting Valerius take the bags and move ahead of her, she extended her hand to the woman, "My name is Faith, it was very nice to meet you."
Faith was disarming to most people, and unless you were down right evil or had a stick up your butt Faith usually brought out the light carefree side of others, the side that people were usually too afraid to show because they didn't want to get taken advantage of.
"I do hope we see each other again, we're new here. In fact I've never been to London, it'd be nice to have a friendly person in the crowd."

Bronwyn could have laughed at the idea of her being a friendly face. In fact, she couldn't think of one person that she could call a friend anymore. The very nature of her job and lifestyle didn't exactly leave the time or opportunity to make friends. She went out sometimes, met men in bars and such, but they would always provide just one evening of comfort before she had to move on. It wasn't a healthy lifestyle, but then, she wasn't used to anything else.
And yet, she opened her mouth and found herself saying the strangest things. "I'm Bronwyn," she said. "I was actually born here, but I've been away a long time. Maybe I could show you around or something."
If this kept up, soon she would be dropping by her sister's house for a friendly visit. London had such a strange effect on her.

"Oh I'd like that." she said with a large grin on her face. "Maybe we could meet tomorrow for lunch...well if you're not too busy." if there was something else about Faith it was that she could eat. She could put down an entire pizza by herself and still want more. Then she made a face, English food was so tasteless in comparison to what she was used to, but she supposed she would just have to get used to it.

Bronwyn hesitated just slightly. She was supposed to check in with her contact tomorrow to find out her assignment. These things were all done very hush-hush, and she never met with the actual client face-to-face. Instead, she usually met with a third party who only knew the very basic information. This way, no one knew all of the details, and it would be harder to prove anything, should something go wrong.
"We'll see," she said simply. "I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I'm not sure I'll be available. But I'll let you know. As I said, I'm sure we'll see each other again."

Faith already knew they were destined to be friends, she could sense it. Though she might say the same thing a hundred times every day with a hundred different people, she really did feel a strong connection with the girl as if their friendship was meant to be.
She smiled, "You're right. I'm sure we'll run into each other again, and whenever you have the time, I'd really love a tour." She nodded toward the woman, feeling as though she had done something right then turned to face Valerius who was doing everything in his power not to give her one of his infamous scowls.

Bronwyn smiled back. "I'll let you know if I have time," she said, wondering why she was saying these things. Surely she had taken a leave of her senses. In her job, she really couldn't afford to make friends. It was too easy to be identified that way.
She gave one more polite nod to the man she was with, even though Bronwyn could tell he was about two seconds from dragging Faith out of the lobby. In fact, his attitude rather bothered Bronwyn, perhaps because it reminded her of herself. This was the only explanation she could give for what she did next.
"You know... I could maybe meet you for breakfast, if you're available," she blurted out.

Faith lit up at the possibility, although she could almost hear Valerius groan she shrugged the thought away and agreed readily, " I would enjoy that very much." she answered.
She was not the type to follow orders never had been, again something that annoyed Valerius often, but he usually indulged her. She didn't know why London bothered him so much, but she could tell there was something more off putting here than he was letting on, perhaps she just had to annoy him enough to get him to tell her.

For some reason, Bronwyn felt pleased to see the girl's face light up, even as her companion's seemed to darken. She even smiled in spite of herself.
"Good. Maybe we could meet in the lobby around, say 7:00 tomorrow morning? I remember there used to be a really good cafe a few blocks from here.... if it's still here, we could go go there. Or we could just go to the hotel restaurant. I've heard it's very good."
