The common room was, amazingly, completely empty, but this was probably because the grandfather clock had just chimed 4:00 (four o'clock in the morning ). The sound of light footsteps could be heard decending the footsteps to the girls dorm.
Mystie looked haggered. Very, very haggered. Her usually beautiful face currently looked like a bloodhound's backside ... well, it wasn't that bad, but she did look pretty tired. She just couldn't get to sleep. Maybe she should cut down on the tea and coffee, and she wasn't getting as much exercise as usual. She was normally running wild, but now she had to sit in classrooms for years.
It was only her first day, and she felt groggy. The fire burst into light and Mystie took a seat on the cold black leather sofa, and leant back, closing her blootshot eyes. She really wanted to get to sleep. She was just drifting off when footsteps were heard, and they weren't even bothering to keep the noise down.
She groaned and turned to the silouhette framed by the light coming through the window. As they walked forward into the light of the fire she saw ...

Justine wandered out of her dorm room. She'd had that dream again. The one where she was being ripped out of her bed as a small child and carried, screaming, out into the cold, dark night with just a blanket to cover her. This time she could remember herself crying out for "Beebee." She had then been taken on a long drive and finally handed to a man with gnarled, claw-like hands and terrible breath. As the man took her, she screamed even more loudly. Then she had jolted awake and couldn't get back to sleep. She wandered downstairs, carrying a book. But as she approached the fireplace, she made out a figure sitting in the warm glow of the fire. "Um, hello," she said shyly.

Mystie wasn't very pleased to be interrupted, but the new person couldn't see her face in the dim light properly, so she didn't worry. "Hey..." She croaked, looking back to the fire and rubbing her tired eyes. "What you up for?" She asked, but she already knew. "Nightmares?" She asked, looking up to Justine's face. She'd known as soon as Justine had come down the stairs. Mystie hated invading people's thoughts. It's bot as if she wanted to. It just happened. "Sorry." She said quickly. "My minds freakish, I pick up on people's thoughts sometimes, especcially when they're anxious. I don't mean to." She explained, looking back to the fire, blushing slightly.

"You can pick up on people's thoughts?" said Justine. The idea freaked her out. She didn't really want anyone to know the dark thoughts that sometimes floated through her head. She backed up slightly. "You know there's another girl in Slytherin who can feel what people are feeling. I think she sees some future stuff, too. Her name is L.J." She sat down on a chair, not facing the girl. "Can... you you tell what my nightmare was about?" She flushed red, hoping she'd say no.

Mystie nodded slowly, looking at the threadbare carpet. "Yeah. I pick up on people's thought sometimes but in a classroom, I can't, like, link up who's thinking what because there's loads of people in the room. It;'s normally just a jumble, but yeah... sometimes." She finished feebly. "I know there's some other people in the school that can do it. I wanna stop it. I really, really do ... but I haven't asked anyone. I don't know who to ask actually. You're the only one who knows." She said, looking up to her for a split second. "I'd really apprieciate it if you didn't tell anyone. It's just ... Im finding it hard enigh to settle into this place anyhoo, that's without people knowing that I'm even more of a freak." She slid off of the seat and lifted up the seat cushion. Underneath it was a large, dark green book with a hand-drawn, silver picture of a dragon on the back. Sitting back down, she set it on her lap, and looked back at the book. "And about you're nightmares ... probably not." She said, pulling out a pencil and opening to a blank page. She started sketching, apparently for no reason.

Justine nodded. "I won't tell anyone. It's not like many people talk to me, anyway," she said. "I mean, my only friends are my boyfriend, Jason, and Severus and Rori. I'm still not sure why she likes me, but she's pretty cool. Do you know Rori?"

Mystie gritted her teeth and faked a smile, still sketching in the book "Yeah... I know Rori." She said sickly, "And Severus. Seen him around 'n' that, you know?" She said casually, ripping out the sketch and throwing it into the fire.
