(Because I don't get to use Kellie much.)
It had happened again. Kellie had gotten so involved in her latest book that she missed dinner. Yes, she had a few snacks with her, which she had eaten, but she didn't have a proper meal. Now that she had finished her book, she realized that it was nearly midnight, everyone else was asleep, and she was starving.
This happened to her more often than she cared to admit. It was a bad habit, but when she was wrapped up in a book, sometimes she just couldn't seem to pull herself away, not for anything. Her sisters sometimes joked that the whole castle could be falling down around her, and she would just be sitting there reading, utterly unaware of anything else.
Setting her book down on one of the tables, Kellie looked around the dark and deserted common room. Surely no one would notice if she slipped down to the kitchens for a snack. Taking her wand, she headed out of the common room and crept quietly down the halls and stairwells until she finally reached the entrance to the kitchen.
As she tickled the pear to open the door to the kitchens, the door opened and, to her surprise, someone else stepped out. She gave a little backwards jump, then laughed. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone else was around."

Jynx had been in talking to the house elves and enjoying a little midnight snack. When she was done she was peeling an orange with her book under her arm. Just as the door opened she ran into someone and dropped her book and her orange. "Ow," she looked up to see who she had run into. When she saw a fellow Ravenclaw she smiled softly, "Sorry about that," she stuck out her hand, "I don't think we've met, I'm Jynx, seventh year, you?"

Kellie laughed lightly. Perhaps it was because she always had her head inside a book, but she had a tendency to be a little bit clumsy at times, especially when she had spent the whole day reading. It took her a little while to get her head back into the real world again.
"I'm Kellie... a sixth year," she replied, taking the older girl's hand in a gentle, but firm grip. "Here, let me help you with that."
She bent down to pick up the Jinx's book, but her orange had rolled a short distance away and stopped next to the leg of the table. "It's hard to tell when someone's coming with this door, you know?"

Jynx nodded her head, grinning slightly, "As much as I love being in the kitchen it's pretty bad." She took the book from Kellie and walked over towards a table, "Come, sit, I need to get a new orange anyway."

Kellie followed Jynx over to the table and pulled out a chair. "I do love coming down here, after hours. The house elves are so sweet. They're not quite what I expected elves to look like, though. I always thought they'd be tall and beautiful, like in Lord of the Rings."
At this, she blushed, realizing that she had just accidentally compared real life to a book again. And most people didn't understand the references she made to muggle books. Since she had just met Jynx, she didn't really want to look like a dork.

"You've read Lord of the Rings?" Sophie asked blinking as she quietly entered the room. She was one of the few witches that could reference Muggle books as well and since more often than not she was in her own small world it surprised her now and again when she learned something new about someone else. Still she was learning to come out of her shell a bit what with the sudden attention she had been getting from Ivan.

Jynx grinned as she laughed softly. She looked up at the girl who had just walked in, "I always thought that they'd be like the ones in the Shoemaker. Smaller, ones you can hold in her hand." She smiled at the girl who had walked in, "I'm Jynx, seventh year. You?"

Maybe it was because Sophie had always kept to herself, or maybe because Kellie spent too much time reading, but she was surprised to hear Sophie speak. And hearing that they might have the same taste in literature made her smile. Very few people understood her when she started talking about book characters like they were her best friends.
"Yes, I've read the whole series at least three times. Maybe four," she replied, blushing lightly. "Isn't it funny how different books and stories can interpret some things so differently from others? I know I was really quite shocked when I saw elves for the first time in real life."

"Oh I know!" she said with more animation than anyone had ever seen from her, " My mother told me about them so I wasn't too surprised but still, and Centaurs...." she added, " are magnificent creatures, as much as I love books I haven't found one yet that has done them justice."
To Jynx she smiled openly feeling safe in the book reading community enough to answer, "I'm Sophia, a Fifth Year."

Jynx smiled and nodded towards the tables, "Please, sit, join us. We're just having a lil midnight snack. Centaurs are amazing, but I think my favorite magical creature is a Hippogriff. They are magnificent creatures." She thought of her hippogriff back at home.

Kellie's eyes were bright with excitement. As much as she loved her books, she always found that whenever she did emerge from them, she made friends quite easily. She could be quite social when she wanted to be, a trait she had surely inherited from her mother's side of the family. It was really the only thing she had in common with her sisters.
"Centaurs are amazing," she agreed, "though a bit intimidating. I only saw them once, and I felt like they knew so much more than I ever could. Like they have this great wisdom that they refuse to share with the rest of the world."
When Jynx commented about hippogriffs, Kellie looked over at her with fascination. "You've seen a hippogriff?" she said with awe. "I never have... only pictures. But I saw a dragon once... it was a baby, but it was still so fierce...."

Sophia smiled and took a seat, she also took up her quiet regime again simply fascinated with the fact that she was having a conversation, moreso that she was welcome to it. She smiled inwardly, perhaps people weren't as aweful as she had previously believed, perhaps it was her own fear that made her shy and her own shyness that made her alienate herself.
