Eve entered the room brightly glancing around for a spot to sit hopefully around someone familiar, seeing no real spot she moved towards the back to sit in solitude.
She hadn't made a ton of friends at hogwarts, mainly because she was too shy, but she wasn't disliked either, she was just sort of there...except when it came to Viv and the Twins. They loved her and cared for her, and really what more could a girl ask for?

Theo settled onto the chair beside Laura, and turned his body towards her, not even bothering to get out his books yet. He noticed that there was a piece of parchment that looked suspiciously like a finished essay laying by her bag. He furrowed his brow as he tried to remember if there was any assignments due today. It was no shock that Theo hadn't been sorted into Ravenclaw, as he wasn't exactly the most studious or knowledge-thirsty student.

Noticing his concentrated look, Laura followed his gaze to her essay. She cleared her throat and gave him a wry look, "I'm guessing you didn't finish the assignment?"

His focus shifted to her face as she broke his concentration. "Didn't even realize we had an assignment," Theo mumbled while rubbing the back of his neck. "Can I take a look?" he asked, gesturing to the parchment.

There were still a few students missing, but Carlisle was not one to postpone class for a couple stragglers. He walked to the door and shut it, then spoke in a loud voice that carried over the conversations. "Alright then. Let's settle down."
Carlisle moved to the front of the class, standing between his desk and the blackboard. His text was opened on his desk, with notations marked in the margins on things he wanted to explain in more detail. "At our last class we discussed Summoning Charms. Can anyone tell me the counter-charm?"
((OOC: If your student has not already "arrived" you will be marked house points if you show up late. To avoid this, simply post that your student had arrived earlier and is now participating in the lesson.))

Laura's attention snapped back to the front of the room as Professor Macrae began the lesson. Silently, she slipped the parchment over to Theo so he could refresh his memory.
Thankfully she had read over her textbook last night and actually absorbed some of the information. With a quick glance around the room, she slowly raised her hand and called out, "The banishing charm, sir- depulso."

Alenna turned from Roman with a smile and a silent nod and faced the Professor. She knew it was time to "stop the chit-chat" as he father would say and focus on work. She hoped she and roman could finish up their convorsation later on or after class.

Kat stopped doodling on the edge of her book and looked up at Professor Macrae, who was beginning the lesson. Finally they were starting, Kat loved this class.

Samantha looked up as well, then to Laura as she answered. Sam didn't raise her hand this turn, but she knew the professor knew she knew the answer since she had turned in the homework. She would observe for a bit simply to get a feel for the class once more. She enjoyed charms. It was strange but she was enjoying her classes, of course she would enjoy them more than simply having tutors but it was something else about the social interaction without the pressure of her mother that made learning...existing, almost a pleasure.

Theo murmured his thanks as Laura handed him her essay and class started. He was so absorbed in reading it he didn't hear Professor Macrae's question, but he did hear Laura's answer. Geez, first she finishes her essay and now she was answering questions in class. How didn't she get sorted into Ravenclaw?
"Nerd," he whispered under his breath with a smirk on his face. Theo didn't say it aloud, but he was glad he was sitting beside her today. Now he might be able to hurriedly write the essay, and hopefully scrape together a passing mark.

"Excellent Miss Callaghan. Five points to Gryffindor." Carlisle was pleased that someone had remembered what they had written in their homework. He was young once too and knew how easy it was to forget something the minute you wrote it down. There were so many other things to distract the teenage mind.
"Today we have another practicum lesson, the Banishing Charm. And as Miss Callaghan correctly stated, the incantation is depulso. The wrist movement is fairly similar to the one used for Summoning Charms, so be sure to pay close attention. Two quick swishes inward, and a sharp jab forward. Let's try it together. Wands down," he cautioned.

Laura heard his whispered remark and gave him a mock glare. "I don't see you trying to get points for Gryffindor," she muttered while setting her wand on the table.

Kat mimmicked the teacher, silently repeating the movements in her mind. Swish, swish, jab. Swish, swish, jab. when she was sure she had the wand and arm movements down, Kat stopped and waited for the next part of the lesson, her fingers itching to get her wand.

The class moved together about as well as a hippo danced, but they all seemed to have the right motions in their wrists. "Very good, everyone. Now, let's try it for real. Do be careful not to run these into your fellow students." He gave a warning glare to the class as a whole and then sent an unbreakable jar to the desk of each student. He stood back, and observed.

Swish, swish, jab, Alenna's jar scooted across the table infront of her, then stopped, She frowned and poked the jar with her wand. "Oh come on," Alenna groaned. Swish, swish, jab she tried again, but she jabbed to hard and ended up knocking the jar on the floor. Lucky for Lennie, they were unbreakable.

Swish swish jab. Samantha shook her head, she could never focus in terms like that, it was more the movement that she felt, and she knew when she got the motion right. Taking her wand in hand, she tried to recall the spell remember how it felt to do it correctly. For all she studied, and practiced she should have been in ravenclaw, but that was besides the point, she was far too critical of herself that if she didn't get it right on the first try she'd castigate and study for hours again at night. Who needed sleep after all?

Carlisle watched as many of the jars fell to the floor. He was thankful that he had had the foresight to cast an unbreakable charm on them, especially after his last lesson where the floor was covered with glass by the time the students left. He walked around the room, giving tips as needed. "Relax you wrist," he offered to Alenna. She had the motion down, but she was thinking about it too much. Her movements were coming out too stiff, and if she kept it up she would certainly need to see Madame Pomfrey in a few years, complaining of Carpal Wand Syndrome.

Alenna relaxed her wrist just as Professor Macrae instructed. Swish, swish, jab Alenna wove her wand again. "Depulso," and to Alenna's happiness, the jar was banished away from her. She smiled and summoned the jar back so she could try agian.

"Brilliant," he smiled at Alenna. "You all are doing very well," he said to the group at large. He assisted here and there as needed and soon the class was nearly over. Carlisle moved to the front of the room and gained their attention by clearing his throat. "Very good everyone. You've all made excellent improvement in such a short time. I want you to keep practicing and as you really start to get it at this distance, try banishing things that belong further away. The farther the item has to travel, the harder it will become. Now, before we go, let's all banish those jars up to my desk, shall we?"
