Character Name: Isolde Elizabeth Cantington
Year: Sixth
Description or Celebrity Claim:Isolde is exactly five foot. Not an inch more and not an inch less. She is thin rather than slender because she doesn't have much of an appetite to speak of. With the exercise that she does daily, her body has become well formed and she manages to look healthy without anyone realizing just how truly tiny she is. Her figure is slight and she doesn't really have a lot of curves like her younger sister does even at the age of fourteen.
She has long, wavy brown hair that doesn't like to stay in place. Isolde really cannot be bothered with it and just lets it do what it wants after she washes and brushes it. However, she would never cut it. Ever. Her eyes are an odd green color, varying with blue-green at times when she is more upset. They take up much of her face and are rimmed with thick, sooty lashes that curl without help and cause many to envy her them. With a pale complexion, Isolde looks like a porcelain doll and she seems very fragile. Which she is.
Her most prominent facial features are her delicate jawbone and straight, aristocratice nose that looks slightly out of place on her heart-shaped face.
When out of uniform, Isolde wears casually elegant clothes that distract from her personality. This is a defensive mechanism and is mostly in place for the benefit of others.
She has no tatoos or piercings, mostly because she has an intense fear of needles and she would be unable to sit still for one, anyways. However, Isolde does have a birthmark on the inside of her right arm that resembles a cat of some sort.
Preferred House (you may not get it, unless you are a canon character): Possibly Slytherin. I'm not sure though.

Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Personality: Isolde is a bundle of emotions, a ticking time bomb ready to explode at any moment. She has a dangerous lack of control over what she feels at any given moment and it does not take much to set her of. This lack of control has given her more enemies then friends but it is not something that she can ever change about herself. Isolde is schizophrenic. (Please see history for an explantion.)
Her sense of humor is very dry and sarcastic but it's there none the less. That is her only true redeeming grace. She loves to laugh and have fun just as much as the next person. It is her belief that laughter is the best medicine for anything in the world. And she really needs it.
Isolde is broken mentally and has no way of expressing her needs or her feelings for someone. It is this inability to relate that has caused her to be something of a social pariah. The sad thing is that she is just extremely insecure and does not want to be rejected for who she is. It is her biggest fear to live in a world without love or happiness and she does not want to die alone.
Sadistic is a good world to describe her. Pain is merely amusing to her and she has the unfortunate ability to deal with more pain then she should be able to, a result of years of childhood abuse. This does not mean that she dishes out punishments left and right. However, if someone is hurt she doesn't seem to be able to grasp their discomfort or the fact that they are injured. She just thinks it's all a joke.
Isolde is very accepting of most people. They just have to be Purebloods, of course. She doesn't see the need to shun someone for who they are because others have done that enough to her. Loyalty is not a big thing in Isolde's world and she really can't figure it out. Family has never been a very strong part of her world and she doesn't really get the need to stick by flesh and blood. As such, this isn't something that she admires in others but rather scorns. Hufflepuffs are not the most well-liked people in her book.
Intelligence is not really a true possibility with her disease. However, it does not stop her from having a true thirst to learn. This requires many hours of intense studying and a bit of extra help in certain classes. She is clever enough to be able to get what she most desires and sly enough that is satisfies most Slytherins sense of her character.
She lives in a dark and terrifying self-imposed prison and not much can make her happy. Isolde believes that the world isn't beautiful and she has the inability to see it that way. However, she would truly like to. One of the things that few people know about her is that she wants to be loved, regardless of who she is or what may be wrong with her, and a quality she always gives the person that she dreams about in her future is the ability to show her the beauty in the world and teach her how to be emotionally free.
History:
Isolde Elizabeth Cantington was born on October 31 in Holyhead, Wales. Her parents had been married for only two years and they had not planned this. They were by no means pleased because they disliked children and would rather have not had any. Maybe one, had it been male, would have sufficed. Unfortunately for them, they were "cursed" with fertility and within the next five years had two more children, the last of which was male. Finally.
As a result of their bitterness and inability to feel love for the child they had given birth too out of their own flesh, her parents began to abuse her. She went through a true hell on earth for the first four years of her life. It ceased for a few years after the birth of her youngest sibling, the only male in the small family. It all seemed to be going well for the young girl. Until she started suffering from severe night terrors, claiming that "the bad people were telling her to kill them all." It shocked and bothered her parents. Soon they began to take the deteriating child all around the magical world, visting various healers who couldn't seem to find the problem in the young child. Finally, against their better judgment, they took her to a world renowned Muggle doctor who diagnosed her with schizophrenia.
By definition, Schizophrenia is a severe brain disease that interferes with normal brain and mental function—it can trigger hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, and significant lack of motivation. Without treatment, schizophrenia affects the ability to think clearly, manage emotions, and interact appropriately with other people. It is often disabling and can profoundly affect all areas of your life (for example, becoming unable to work or go to school). She has been recieving treatment for her disease ever since then but there is no true cure. As a result, it has affected her social skills and her ability to learn. It doesn't mean that she doesn't want to. She thirst for knowledge. This leads her to study for many rather intense hours and she sometimes needs extra help in some classes. However, she does not let her disease affect her when it musn't. Isolde refuses to use it as an excuse or a "get out of jail free" card.
When she was seven years old, two years after being diagnosed with schizophrenia, the small family took an extended vacation, touring the world. One of their stops was Komotini, Greece. Here the family met Nicholas Vescovy. This man took an interest in the dark little girl that seemed to see more then anyone else in the world he had ever known. He took her under his wing for the two months they stayed there.
Nicholas started her on her journey deeper into darkness. The things he showed her and the dark magic that she was exposed to haunt her still today. She has never told anyone what happened in Greece and refuse to even now. It was in Komontini that she experienced the rush of taking someone else's life. That someone was Nicholas Vescovy. No one had ever thought to question the schizophrenic girl as to the whereabouts of the man that she had been spending much of her time with. It is still an unsolved case.
After the events of that summer, Isolde became even more introverted. She remained enclosed in her shell until she was almost eleven years old. This was when she learned that she had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There had been much jubilation in the Cantington household, as no one had though the girl would be able to go to school. It was decided that maybe learning control over her wild, sometimes dangerous bouts of magic would also help her control herself.
Now Isolde is in her sixth year of Hogwarts. Her other siblings are also going to school, her younger sister being in her fourth year and her brother being in his second year. She sincerely hopes that this year will be different then the last.

Classes
- Best/Favorite Classes: Charms
- Worst/Most Hated Classes: Potions
Strengths:
- She has the inability to recognize situations in which she is more than likely being made fun of. To her, this would be a strength because she definitely doesn't want anyone to know she's vulnerable in anyway and that's certainly what would happen if she realized anything was amiss.
- She has a lack of ability to feel normally. It's because of her disease but she doesn't view it as a handicap and would never use it as an excuse. Amazingly, it's because she does not have the capacity to feel normally that she feels more secure.
- Isolde has a very accepting personality. Mostly, she can't be bothered with those that are "Mudbloods" or Halfblood but it still doesn't faze her much. She is so accepting only because she wants the same acceptance for herself.
Weaknesses:
- Isolde has a very violent personality. Her emotions can change at the blink of an eye.
- She puts people off with her attitude and her lack of control.
- Isolde has a lack of motivation that seriously irkes most people but she couldn't really be bothered.
