[Teagan Kelly]

Her legs bent as she crouched down, sliding forward under a bar and creeping forward so that she sat with them underneath it, hanging free off the side of the tower. For some reason, Teagan had never been overly bothered by heights. She didn't like them, no, but they didn't bother her when she was inside a building. Call her weird but it was the truth nonetheless.

Tilting her head back, Teagan allowed herself to get lost in the wonders of the starry night. After sneaking out a few times, she was very comfortable coming here after hours. It was the only time during the day when she truly had time to escape the monotony of homework. The only thing that would have made it better was if she had someone to share this experience with.

Sighing to herself, she allowed her eyes to close and her lips parted slightly on the heavy breath she expelled. Of course, if she could talk to someone once in a while then things might be different. Opening her eyes once more, she took in the quiet stars that glittered down on her and wished she could join them.

Call it sneaking out, but Casey had truly good intentions in doing it. He was studying from Dalton's Astronomy book, working on his own star chart. It had more information in it than his 1st year book did, and he was trying to do the best job he could on his star chart. That was Casey- he did everything to the best of his abilities. Dalton made fun of him for it, but he never really minded.

He looked up when Teagan came in, a girl he knew simply because she was in his house and most of his classes. She seemed... distracted, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to interrupt her in her thoughts, but after a moment, he nodded to himself.

"Hi Teagan," he said, his voice soft in case he was interrupting anything. "Is everything okay?"

Starting, she whipped her head around to see who had spoken and relaxed when she saw Casey. He was a boy in her House and year. They had a lot of classes together. Casey was looking at her as if he expected to be yelled at.

In his hand, he held a book that Teagan could just see from her position on the floor. An astronomy book. She smiled to herself and then realized she hadn't answered. A light red crept up onto her face.

"Hi, Casey. Yes, I'm alright. I was... just thinking. Are you doing that one chart?" she asked curiously.

Casey's head cocked to the side as she replied, and he nodded. "Yeah. For Professor Dean. It's not due for a couple of days, but I didn't want to be rushed doing it."

She was observant, a trait that Casey both appreciated and could admire. "What were you thinking about? I mean, if you want to tell me."

He wasn't usually so blunt, asking questions like that, but sometimes, when his curiosity overtook him, they slipped out. And Teagan was usually always very kind and accomodating anyway, so he didn't think she would bite his head off for the question.

She smiled when she heard Casey's reply. It was very reminiscent of her own inability to keep back a burning question although Teagan was more often than not able to control herself. He reminded her a bit of her brother and the thought made her cringe just slightly. She missed him, too.

"Oh. I was thinking about my family... About my little sister and brother," she answered softly.

"Oh yeah?"

Well, Teagan moved into conversation easily enough, and it gave Casey a little smile. He always liked talking to people, but some of the Slytherins made him a little cautious going in. Still, he was a touch more people friendly than his brother.

He didn't know much about Teagan, which seemd strange since they were in the same house and year. "I didn't know you had any siblings. Are they older than you? Do they go here?"

He wasn't trying to barrage her with questions, but they were obviously on her mind since she was thinking about them. Besides, she could always tell him to shove off if he was being too nosey.

Teagan cocked her head, amusement in her very blue eyes. It didn't bug her. In fact, she thought he was adorable, with all his questions and the innocence behind them. He made her think of a rainbow but then that thought became rather grim as she recalled Natalie's interpretation of a rainbow.

"Yes. I have a brother and a sister. Bryna is a little bit younger than me and Shannon, my little brother, is the youngest. They'll both be going through Hogwarts soon enough," she said with a crooked grin,"You actually reminded me a bit of Shannon when you first started talking."

It might sound weird but it made her feel comfortable around him, something hard to do. She felt relaxed and she gave him a real smile, her first in a while, and a dimple appeared.

Casey's nose would have wrinkled and he would have probably immidiately stopped talking to her if the girl mentioned at all that he reminded her of a rainbow. That was definitely not something 11 year old boys wanted to hear.

Casey smiled to match her own, though, dimples in his cheeks too. "I wonder what it's like having younger siblings. Dalton's two years older than me, and I think he likes to rub that in, sometimes. He's okay though, you know?"

He shrugged a little, closing his book. He kept the chart out though, his quill hovering over it. Unsure what else to say, he decided to go back to that conversation. "I took my brother's book for the chart. It helps a lot, if you haven't done yours yet."

"Yes, Dalton's really nice," she said with a smile.

Her eyes were drawn to the stares and she frowned in contemplation. It took her a moment to realize the boy was saying something again and she blinked, trying to recover from her momentary leave of the world.

"That's actually what I came out here to do," she admitted, gesturing to a paper that she had set down on the other side of her, "I was trying to get some perspective or something."

Teagan gave a tiny laugh, feeling embarrassed and not wanting to admit that she really couldn't remember what had been going on in class recently. Her mind was literally blown away by the stars...
