(I decided she was a waitress here, lol. Open to anyone.)
Some days, Penny wondered why she had to pick a classy restaurant to work at. It paid well, and that was the main upside to it, but when she was having a bad day and just looked awful, it was such an effort to come in and look happy and act happy.
And of course, today was one of her off days. It didn't help that she was practically aching for some kind of substance... magical, muggle, she didn't care. She'd been clean for a month, but the cravings never went away, and her demons never left her alone.
She stepped through the doors into the kitchen, setting up a tray just as Pierre was finishing a couple of dishes. "Table five," he told her.
"Got it, thanks." And then she was back on the floor with the guests, delivering another table their dinner.
Except that she never quiet made it. She must have tripped or something, but the next thing she knew, there was food all over the floor and a huge mess in front of her as she sank to her knees to deal with it.
Great. She was already warned that one more mistake, and they were either firing her or demoting her to hostess. Well, here was their reason.

Jax only ate here because the food tasted good. He wasn't really into the whole classy dining thing. So, when he stopped by during his lunch break at St. Mungo's, he hurried inside, not paying attention to where he was going.
Smack! He slipped on something that spilled onto the floor and slammed onto the ground. "Owww..." Jax said, rubbing the back of his head as he sat up slowly. Good thing he was a healer.
He looked up to see a waitress cleaning up what he presumed she spilt all over. She looked upset. He saw a man head over to them (jax guessed he was the waitress's boss) looking fumed. Sitting up Jax waved at the well dressed man and smiled. "My bad man," Jax said. "Wasn't watching where I was going." The well-dressed man, taking the excuse, turned and let them be.
"So," Jax said to the waitress. "Were you just planning to trip me?" Jax joked.

Penny could practically hear her boss coming up behind her, and she cringed, just as one of the patrons slipped in her mess. Great Merlin, could tonight get any worse?
She took a deep breath, just waiting for it all to hit.
But then, quickly, the man on the floor covered for her, and her eyes shot up to meet his. His attention was still on her boss, and she glanced over her shoulder quickly before turning back.
She offered him a small smile as she hurried to clean up. "I am so sorry... you didn't have to do that, you know. I mean, thank you."

Jax finished helping the girl out, reparing glasses with his wand and wiping up the spilt stuff with a scourgify spell. "No problemo," Jax said. He stood up and wipped the knees of his pant before offering her a hand to help her up.
"Boss man seemed like his vein in his forehead was about to explode anyway," Jax said. "Wouldn't be fair to take it out on you, since it was my fault and all," He winked at her.
"I'm Jax," He said, thinking he should introduce himself.

"Yeah, well, Boss Man isn't exactly my best friend lately." She felt like she was walking a wire with this job as it was, and the boss was just looking for an excuse to fire her. She knew she didn't fit in here- the place was too nice, too refined, too classy. But she'd lucked into the job, and she was trying so hard to keep it. She was trying so hard to keep a lot of things straight in her life.
She wiped her hands on her apron, a stark white against the black of her uniform, and met his eyes fully, putting the jittery feeling aside for a moment. "Thank you, really. I'm Penny. Can I get you something? On the house, of course."

"Nice to meet you Penny," Jax said with a smile. Poor thing looked nervous as hell. She was probably still shaken up that she might have almost lost her job. Jax hated Employers like that, who got angry over the littlest things.
"Oh, no you don't have to do that," Jax siad. He leaned a little closer and smiled. "I'm the one who knkocked you over, remember?" he joked, trying to get her to brighten up a little.

Penny, aside from being nervous and shaken up, so badly wanted something that would calm her down, too. But she couldn't... at least not here. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she sighed a bit shakily, and nodded, even letting him see her smile.
"Yes, of course." Why was he being so nice to her? Most of the people in the place would have thrown her in front of the Knight Bus, given half a chance. "But I'd still like to thank you. Boss man won't even know," she added, the corner of her lips pulling up slightly.

Jax noticed that Penny was slightly shaken. The Healer in him kicked the back of his brain slightly. But she was trying to push it aside and Jax would let her for now. "I just came in for a drink," Jax said with a simple smile. "It's no need, really."
Her hands were shaking and Jax looked at them. "Are you alright?" he asked gently.
