Personality (At least 4 sentences, but longer is preferred):
Penelope is as ambitious as she is clever, but only for those things she cares about. Since she entered Hogwarts she has been obsessed with becoming an animagus and has achieved the highest marks in Transfiguration in the pursuit while, on the other hand, she does not believe History of Magic worth her time and attention and so has achieved fairly average marks. Once her mind is set on something she never lets go of it and she must have some sort of goal to achieve at all times. She loves to laugh and surround herself with people who can keep her amused. Once convinced that she likes someone and that they are worth her time she is incredibly loyal and would defend them to the death. She likes to be frank and honest with people and though it has gotten her into trouble in the past, she forever holds that being honest is best. She is also pretty sarcastic, to the point that many people think she is being serious. In general, she has a pretty even temper, she is fairly patient with people and tends not to lose her head too easily. Though friendly, she does have a tendency to live inside her head and often likes to be alone, particularly when doing homework. She is also very good with animals and has quite the pack of cats at home and one cat, her favorite, Pepper, at school with her.
History (At least 4 sentences):
Penelope grew up in an pureblood wizard family. Her mother was practically disowned by her pureblood mania family for marrying her father who, while a pureblood, was considered a blood traitor. Penelope and her 3 sisters grew up in the country, believing all people, half and pureblood, to be equal and without much interaction with either side of their extended family. Penelope is the youngest of the girls by 6 years, her oldest sister Janis is 24 and is married to a St. Mungo's healer with the last name Pikler. Next in age is Abigail who is 21 and living on her own in London while working for the Ministry of Magic and Helen, 19, still lives at home and apparates to her job at Gringotts (though no one in the family is quite sure exactly what she does). Penelope always knew she should be at Hogwarts, for years she watched from the sidewalk as her sisters left for school and she vowed from a young age that she would make her own way at the school and not have to live in the shadow of her sisters. Hand-me-downs were inevitable being the youngest but she was always able to put her creativity to good use. She could always turn an old pair of jeans into a new pair of shorts and turn an oversize sweater into a trendy vest. Her parents, who believed in a firm hand when disciplining their children, always discouraged her from this and even went so far as to throw away her new clothes, but her spirit was not easily broken. Though she often ended up locked in the attic without dinner, she was never discouraged and would use the time to think of new ways to undermine her parents authority. Her childhood was a fairly lonely one because of the age gape with her sisters and the lack of public school. She spent most of her time outside tending to the cats who would seek her out (to the annoyance of her mother). When one of her dear cats would die she could feel it very deeply and it was only through the scolding of her parents that she grew toughened to it. All in all, she does not believe her childhood to have been a bad one, though she has always felt more at home at Hogwarts than in her own home.
RP Sample (At least 4 sentences, must be as the character. Pretend it's your first post):
Penelope walked slowly through the corridor. She ran her hand over the ancient hand stones and stopped to look at a picture of several monks gathered around a table. After 2 full years as a student she still could not get over how wonderful the castle was. For 11 years she had listened to her sisters describing the wonders of the castle and its grounds. She had burned with jealousy and begged her parents to let her go early. She knew even then that she could be great here.
She left the portrait with a smile on her face and made it to her favorite place of late: the library. She liked it more than ever lately because the weather had been particularly nice and had driven even the most devoted library rats out and on to the grounds. She made her way through the rows of books picking up a few she needed along the way. Her favorite spot was a remote table in the back of the library. It was next to an ancient window that flooded light over her table in the afternoon. It looked out over the lake and she could gaze at the students enjoying the day without actually joining them. She found the table mercifully empty and took the seat closest to the window. She lay her books out before her and started to think about what she was there to accomplish. It was not homework that had her checking out books so often this year. She had spent her first two years reading everything she could get her hands on about becoming an animagus and she thought she was finally ready to put her study into practice, though, admittedly, the conversation with her Transfiguration professor had gone rather worse that she had hoped. He had told her that third year was much too young to begin actually practicing becoming an animagus and that she should focus more on studying the art first. Penelope disagreed, vehemently. But if she was not going to get help from her professor she was going to have to do it alone. For the past several nights she had wandered out after nighttime to an empty classroom that she knew of on the fourth floor. She was nervous, tentative; it had been just as hard as she had expected. After practicing with no results for several hours a night she would come to the library and check and double check the books to be sure she wasn't making any mistakes. After all, a mistake, especially one made when alone, could be fatal. Yet, it had to be alone, there was no one she could confide this secret in. No one who would not badger her to stop or even worse, tell someone else what she was attempting.
She flipped through a few pages then leaned back in her chair and sighed. If only he would show up. Even the sight of him would distract her enough to forget her present worries. She glanced out the window. Of course he would be outside enjoying the sunshine. She sighed again and laid her head on the table; the lack of sleep was starting to take a toll on her. A little nap wouldn't hurt her...
