Naturally, it was raining. It was always raining and grey. Colin had been away for two months in Romania, and the first day he arrived back in London, it was bloody raining. Some homecoming, he thought.
His first stop was his apartment. Honestly, he would have dropped by Anita's, but he still knew her work schedule, unless it had changed, and she should have been at La Repas right then. So he dropped off at his apartment, which was depressingly quiet. Anita had been watching Macy, which meant both of his girls were at her apartment. He'd have to check on the dog later.
He was only in his apartment long enough to grab a set of dress robes and drop off his bag, and he was out the door again. It was hard for him to really slow down.
A cute red head at La Repas sat him at a table in Anita's section (by his request) and he hid his face behind a menu, waiting to be able to surprise her.

It had not been the best of days for Anita. She couldn't concentrate on a thing. She had been delivering the wrong food to the wrong tables all day, and it was raining out, which meant she had nothing to look forward to once she got off shift.
"A half hour more," she reminded herself as she poured another glass of water after spilling the first one she had left. "Maybe if I do any worse, I can go home early." She could go home and play with Macy, Colin's dog, or write a letter to her brother. She saw another person at one of her tables, and half-wanted to ask if her fellow waitress for the day could cover it. But in the end, she decided she might as well, she couldn't do any worse in that last half hour.
The man had his face hidden by a menu, so she couldn't tell if he was a regular or not. "Hello, I'm anita, your server for today," Anita said, trying not to sound bored. "Are your ready to order?" Anita hardly looked at the man, just at her pad of paper and her quill. She really just wanted to go home.

Colin lowered his menu, mouth open to say something clever, but she quite literally stole his breath away. Merlin, she was beautiful, and he didn't know how he could ever stand to leave her, or why no other guy had stolen her away from him yet. He'd kill any guy that tried.
"I might need some help deciding," he said, whatever clever comment he'd been ready with earlier was gone and forgotten. He hoped she would recognize his voice, that she would give him that look when she realized it was him. He just wanted to hold her and whisk her out of here.

She was still looking at her pad of paper, doodling as he tried to decided. Then he spoke and Anita froze. She knew that voice. She hadn't heard it in monthes but she KNEW THAT VOICE!
"Colin?" She looked over and her face lit up. It was him! She smiled wide and her eyes lit up with happiness. Suddenly the crappy day she was having turned around. There could be a tornado outside, and she wouldn't care. Colin was home. "Colin you're back!" she said excitedly, unknowlingly drawing attention to them.

Colin got to his feet, smiling and not really caring that everyone around them had turned to look. Her surprise made him grin practically from ear to ear. He wasn't due back for another week, actually, which made the surprise better. And to see her mood instantly brighten... well, Merlin, it made him feel good.
"Yeah, I'm back," he said, pulling her into his arms. "And I missed you too much."

Anita was estatic and completely and utterly happy. She hugged him tight before kissing him deeply. "Colin, you weren't supposed to come back for another week!" she said, not that she wasn't happy he was home now. "I didn't think I could bare it any longer," she smiled, kissing him again.
Colin made Anita so utterly happy it was almost unbelieveable. Knowing he was home, no matter how long it may be, made Anita grin and she would probably have that smile on her face for weeks. To her, everything was brighter and better when Colin was around. "Oh I missed you," she said, hugging him close again.

"I know I wasn't," Colin said, half tempted to tease her and tell her he could leave again for a week if she wanted him to. He didn't though, instinctively knowing that this wasn't the right time. He always felt bad for leaving her, and he felt so undeniably lucky to have her greet him like this whenever he came home.
"Hey, when do you get off? Or do you have a break coming up? I don't want all your customers to see the kiss I'm dying to give you."

"Um," she looked back over her shoulder to the kitchens. She had a half-hour more of her shift, and had already taken her break. But she didn't want to wait a half-hour to finally be with Colin, not after finding out he was finally home. "Gimme a sec," she rushed into the kitchens.
"Amy," Anita said to her other waitress for the evening. "Do you think you could cover my last couple of tables for the next-half hour?" Anita smiled sweetly.
"Why?" Anita pointed out the door toward Colin. "Oh, he's back is he," Anita continued to smile sweetly. "Oh, alright, but you owe me 'Nita." Anita hugged the other girl and then rushed out of the kitchen to Colin and grabbed his hand.
"Let's go," she said with a grin, dragging him out of the resturant.

Colin laughed loudly as she grabbed his hand and practically drug him out of the restaurant. If he could have a greeting like this every time he came home... Merlin, what man wouldn't want to spend his entire life coming home?
He caught up to her once that here outside and wrapped his arm around her waist, pressing a kiss to her temple. "You're beautiful. You know that, right? Merlin, I missed you. Any handsome men I have to beat off while I'm here?"

She loved when he told her she was beautiful. She really felt it when she was with him. She wrapped her arms around him when he placed her lips on her temple. "No, no men to beat off. I can stand on my own two feet sometimes," she laughed.
Anita smiled at Collin and pulled him close, "Was that really the kiss you were dying to give me?" she asked with a hint of teasing in her voice.

"I know you can take care of yourself. I swear I know that.... just sometimes, I like to pretend you need me for something, you know?"
He smiled to show that he was kidding, at least, kind of, and walked with her a little ways. He didn't know where they were going- back home, maybe? Or just walking, he didn't care. He wasn't sure if she was off or just on break, anyway, and he didn't want to get her in trouble at work.
"Well, if you want me to do it here in the middle of the street," he teased, but pulled up short and turned so that they were facing each other. Putting his hands on either side of her face, he said, "It goes a little more like this."
The kiss he gave her was movie moment worthy, deep and loving, and he didn't care who saw it.

She liked that, even though she could manage on her own, she had someone who wanted to protect her, watch out for her. They walked a little bit, hand in hand with no actual destination in mind, Hogsmeade really was such a beautiful little town and Anita loved just looking around and walking through the villiage.
She wrapped her arms around Colin's neck as he pulled her into their kiss. Oh how she had missed him, missed this and everything else. When he was home, things were simply brighter, happier, and more amazing then when he was gone.
When thier kiss ended (minutes? seconds? days? she didn't know how much later) Anita smiled up at Colin and her blue eyes twinkled. "Well now that's more like it," she teased, smiling brightly.

Colin laughed at her comment. "Merlin, I've missed that. Let's do that again," he said, a laugh always seeming to be just under his words. Without really letting her respond, Colin kissed her again.
When he pulled back this time, he took her hand. "All right, start talking. Tell me everything I've missed. I always feel like I'm going to come home to a completely different person, and you always amaze me. How do I deserve you? Anyway, what have you been up to?"

She could stand out here in the rain and kiss Colin all day if she could. "Nope, haven't changed one teeny tiny bit," she smiled, leaning into him and holding his hand.
But to be honest, it was kind of freezing out, and the rain was soaking through the white blouse that was her uniform for the resturant. "Mhm," she kissed his lips quickly. "Let's talk in my apartment?" she suggested. "Macy would be so happy to see you," she said, talking about his dog that she had been watching over.
