As far as Kellie was concerned, there was nothing better than getting lost in a book. Sometimes, she was known to just read a whole day away. Although she was a very social person, sometimes she just wanted to immerse herself in a different world, and there was no better way to do that than reading.
She was sitting in front of the lake, but for all she knew, she could have been anywhere. She was reading The Fellowship of the Ring, which she adored. It even had wizards in it! It was so easy to forget about the rest of the world and just let the words on the page carry her away. She felt like she was a part of it all, walking alongside Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin in their quest.
She was so involved in the book that she had no idea that the sun was about to set.

Kristen could be very predictable when it came to places to go. Her favorite place was the lake. It didn't matter how cold or hot the tempertures reached outside, she would make a trip there. The lake was usually her thinking place, or her place to just get out from the school. She didn't like to be cooped up inside the castle for too long.
She liked to be out by the lake at sunset. Sometimes, the light would hit the water just right and it would look like a path on the water. Reaching the lake, Kristen saw someone already down there. Although some people would say that she wasn't all that social, they were wrong. Everyone had to have time to themselves.
Not disturbing the red head that was reading, at first, Kristen took a seat next to her on the grass. Knowing that the girl was completely involved in the book, because of the expression on her face, she figured a more subtle approach would work a lot better. "Hey Kellie."

Kellie was in the middle of a particularly exciting part--Frodo had just been stabbed by one of the Nazgul--so of course any interruption would catch her by surprise. She heard the voice and jumped, nearly dropping her book. Blinking a couple of times, she realized that the sun was starting to set and someone was sitting next to her. She turned and saw Kristen, breaking into a smile.
"Oh, hey, Kristen," she said brightly. "Sorry... I got totally caught up in my book."
She paused to tuck her bookmark into its place so that she could give the girl her full attention. "How have you been?"

"It's alright, I could tell that you were all caught up. Sorry I scared you. I didn't really mean too. I was hoping for that more subtle way bringing you out of your fantasy world, of course the thought of just running up to you screaming out your name did cross my mind as I came up, but I figured if I just sat down next to you and spoke in a normal tone it wouldn't be so bad." Kristen smiled.
Kellie was one of the few good friends Kristen had. She had two people that she considered close, and Kellie was one of them. "I've been pretty good I suppose. How about you?"

Kellie laughed. "Yeah, I'm sure that if you came running up to me and screamed my name just now, I would have completely freaked out. I was at a really exciting part... although, I have read this one a few times before, so I know what's going to happen. Still... This way was much better."
She rubbed her eyes, taking a quick look around. The sun was just starting to set, spreading streaks that were the very color of Kellie's hair across the sky. She was a little surprised to realize that it was so late already. She must have been out there for hours.
"Anyway, it's good to see you. How have you been?"

"I think it would have been just slightly entertaining to see you freaking out just a little." Kristen laughed. "I'm only kidding. I couldn't be that mean to you." She crossed her ankles as she stretched her legs out and held herself up by putting her hands behind her.
"Been a little tired. I've been attempting to get a little ahead with some work so I can have more free time while everyone else is complaining about how much they have to do."

Kellie rolled her eyes. "I'm lucky it was you. I bet there are a few people who would have found it really funny to sneak up on me and make me freak out."
She yawned heavily and stretched. Now that she had realized how long she had been sitting there, she was feeling all the aches and pains of sitting in one place for too long.
"I know what you mean," she said. "I already did just that... I got all of my work done as soon as it was assigned, and I'm already caught up. That's how I'm able to spend the whole day reading like this. I just don't see the point in procrastinating. This way I get my free time, but I get to actually enjoy it without worrying about homework assignments hanging over my head."

"Ah, procrastination. I like to procrastinate sometimes. Sometimes it can make you work harder and do a little better job but then again its not such a good idea." Kristen smiled. She liked to procrastinate sometimes, especially those days when she didn't feel like doing anything at all.
"And getting ahead and having all your work done ahead of time pretty much all the time is why you're in Ravenclaw." She looked at her friend teasingly. Luckily Kellie knew her well enough not to take her teasing seriously. "We should do something fun together, but I have no idea what."

Kellie rolled her eyes. "Well, you know I'd hate to be a stereotypical anything, but... yeah... I guess us Ravenclaws do enjoy our studying. Merlin... you should see my one roommate. You think I always have my nose in a book? Well, she's even worse. I'm not sure she even sleeps, because she's always busy studying. She's so high-strung, it's ridiculous..."
In fact, most of her roommates were an odd bunch. Zoe, with her frantic studying, was possibly the strangest, but Adele was so quiet that Kellie wasn't sure she'd recognize the girl's voice if she spoke. And then there was Savannah, with her oh-so-perfect manners. She sometimes wondered whether the three girls would ever speak to each other if Kellie weren't in the room with them to encourage them.
"Hmmmm... something fun, huh? Like what?"
