"-and I felt like such a fool, just listening to him tease me about being so clumsy. I mean, he wasn't being mean about it. It was cute a little but, I was just so embarassed."
Caelan was explaining all of this in front of the hippogriffs, and it was actually a pretty funny scenario. She was talking to her best friend, rambling about the boy she met the other day.
The zoo was an odd place, she did realize that, but Caelan preferred places that didn't have large crowds, and she knew if they went to a club, she wouldn't have any time to spend with him because he'd be off chasing every other girl in the room. So they were here.

Lucian was rolling on the floor, figurativly, with laughter. He was spending the afternoon at the Zoo with Caelan, his best friend since he was eleven, and she was telling him a story about a boy she had met.
"Oh, don't worry sweetie, clumsyness is endering," Lucian said with a chuckle. They were at the zoo, hanging out with the hippogriffs. Lucian wasn't entirely sure why, other than it was nerely impossible to pick up a woman in the middle of the day here, since most of the people at the zoo where moms with little kids. "Did you at least get a date out of it?" Lucian asked. If he was in the other guys shoes, and the woman wasn't Caelan, he'd have a date out of it.

"Shut up," Caelan said, laughing even though she didn't want to be. "It's not funny. It was horrible. But he was sweet and put up with it..."
She didn't really get a date out of it, and she shot him a look that said as much, or at least that she wasn't thrilled he even asked. "I asked him if he wanted to come see the kids I tutor... I was on my way there, and he didn't seem wholly thrilled by it. He was sweet though, and at least he insisted on walking me there."

"Okay okay, I'll stop," he snickered. "But you have to admit it was the tinyest bit funny," Lucian smiled at Caelan, trying to cheer her up.
She shot him a look that said no, no date, and she wasn't happy about it. "Well if he isn't interested in the kids you tutor, he isn't worth it." Honestly, what kind of person didn't like hanging out with kids? Lucian never understood that.
"Speaking of the kids you tutor," Lucian said as he leaned against the fence between them and the hippogriffs. "You should bring them here to the zoo, I'm sure the lot would love it!" He said as he saw one young kid run past them excitedly. "Especially the first and second years, since they can't go to Hogsmeade anymore." he added.

Caelan's smile was bashful, and her eyes on the ground. "Yeah, it's funny now. It wasn't at the time. I was pretty terrified." Caelan actually didn't know how she managed to keep talking to Damon the other day. Her heart had been pounding in her ears almost the entire time.
"I can't tell if he was interested or not, or if he was humoring me. But I know... those kids are great, and pretty much any guy is going to have to get their approval," she said, laughing a little, but she was kind of serious about it.
"The zoo's a good idea... but you just volunteered to help chaperone. I cannot handle that many kids in the open air like that by myself. So... you in?"

"Like I said," Lucian laughed. "Endearing," he poked Caelan's shoulder at each sylable of the word. "And you never know, mabye he'll be sitting around at work one day and think 'Hey, that girl was totally awesome, I should ask her out!'" Lucian offered with a smile.
Then Caelan "voulen-told" him to chaperone the zoo trip he suggested. "I...wha...how..." he stuttered. How he sometimes ended up getting caught up in Caelan's plans, he didn't know. Came with the best friend policy he guessed. "Sure, sounds fun," Lucian agreed with a smile. "Just don't bring me as an excuse to give me all the trouble maker kids..." he winked at her.

"Yeah, we'll see. If he owls me, I guess we'll find out." She wasn't so sure that he would be thinking about her, but what did she know?
Caelan's grin was wide, and she laughed as he spluttered. He really had set himself up for that one rather easily, and he shouldn't be surprised that she roped him into it.
"No, I wouldn't trust you with the troublemakers. No offense, of course."

(oops, didn't realize you responded! o.0)
"Well I'm holding out hope for the guy," Lucian said. "He'll send you an owl," he added. Lucian liked to have a little faith in the good of people, and who wouldn't like Caelan? She was an amazing, awesome, wonderful person.
But that's just because Lucian knew her for so long. "What's his name again?" Lucian asked curiously.
"And what do you mean? I couldn't handle them?" Lucian asked. "Come on Caelan, they're what? 12? I'm sure I could handle a bunch of second years," he said, crossing his arms.

Caelan only shrugged. "Yeah... maybe. I wouldn't mind if he did, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high, you know?"
He asked for the guy's name, and Caelan gave him a sideways look. "What do you mean, again? We both know I never said it," she teased him. "It's Damon, though. I can't quite remember his last name. But he was a real sweetheart, and so... you know how that goes. You can get away with a lot by being charming and sweet. Like you already know," she laughed.
"And no. You're a trouble maker. Which means you're only going to encourage them to misbehave. Don't look offended. You know I love you, but you know it's true, too."

“Who, me?” Lucian stepped back in mock-shock, a hand over his heart and doing his worst to keep from laughing. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I would model those children after myself, molding them into proper young ladies and lads,” he snorted, unable to keep himself from laughing.
“But just kidding, I promise not to cause too much trouble,” he winked at Caelan.
“Damon? Sounds like a rich kid,” he said. “Don’t mess with them, they’re all trouble.”

"Well... I give you permission to cause just enough trouble to keep things fun for the kids. You know they love when you come to these things with us."
She turned her eyes to the hippogriffs again, just watching them be lazy in the afternoon sun. It's what she felt like doing, so she certainly couldn't blame them.
"You think every boy I mention- which, I don't mention that many- is trouble. What if he is a rich kid? Maybe he worked for it." She was pretty sure, based on their conversation, that he hadn't, but Lucian didn't need to know that.

Lucian fist pumped the air, grinning. "Yes! You know I'm totally going to abuse that power..." He grinned at her playfully.
"I'm just saying, from growing up in a rich kid's world," Lucian smirked. "They tend to cause trouble, before they grow and mature like I did," He smirked and sent her a wink.

Caelan brandished a finger in her friend's direction. "I said just enough trouble. Not too much, or I can put you in time out, too. Don't think I won't do it." She was laughing, and she wouldn't really put him in time out, but that didn't mean she wouldn't strongly consider it.
His next statement made her scoff and roll her eyes. "Merlin, I swear. I wish I'd grown up as a rich kid... I could be quite the trouble maker too, you know. The secret lives of Hufflepuffs..."

"Aw, ruin all my fun," he laughed, shaking his head. He was sure he'd end up causing too much trouble though.
"Yes, Hufflepuffs, mischievous in secret. I heard once or twice you were actually out of bed past curfew," he laughed, bumping hips with her. He knew that she knew he was teasing.
