It really bothered Lulu that Danica got to have her bed pushed away from the window, just because she was afraid of heights. Whatever older girl had moved it this time had put some kind of charm on it to keep it from moving. Stupid girl. It totally messed with the look of the room. And besides, Lulu was supposed to be the princess in this room, not her.
Angry and annoyed, Lulu decided to get revenge in another way. She went into Danica's trunk and threw her things all over the room. Then she sat back in her bed, pretending to read while she waited for the other girl to show up.

Dani had thanked Callie, assuring her that she would have moved the bed herself if it weren't so heavy, or if she were allowed to do magic. Merlin knew she got in trouble enough as it was to add doing magic into the mix.
She sort of stopped in her tracks when she came back into the room a little while later, trying really hard not to just start screaming at the girl who was so obviously the culprit. Dani didn't get it. She didn't do anything to her- well, not unless Tallulah did it first. She could hardly be blamed for fighting back, right? Danica hated girls with the princess complex so much.
She smiled sweetly. "Hi Tallulah," she said, always calling the girl by her full name just because she knew she hated it. Her eyebrows slightly raised, she walked straight to the girl's bed, unlatching the other girl's trunk. Hey, it was fair game at this point. She refused to be bullied by Lulu, and she wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of watching as Dani cleaned up all her stuff.

"Don't call me that!" Lulu cried. Oh, how she hated that name. It had been nearly impossible for her to say when she was younger, so the nickname Lulu had been born. It was still a stupid name, but at least it was better than Tallulah.
Seeing what Danica was about to do, Lulu dropped her book and stood up. She stamped her feet and then ran over to Danica. "Don't you dare!" she hissed, and sat down on her trunk, stopping Danica from getting into it.

(I actually know a little girl named Tallulah, lol)
"What's wrong, Tallulah? I think the name is perfect for you," Dani told her, smirking slightly. If she could do nothing else to get back at the girl for her horrible attitude and the way she treated her, at least she had that name.
Frowning slightly when she was stopped from opening the trunk, she was strongly tempted to just push Lulu off of it, but sighed. "Why are you such a brat?" she asked, moving around her and pulling the blankets off of the girl's bed. She had to do something. She was a lot angrier than she appeared, and she nearly forgot how close Lulu's bed was to one of the windows in the room.

(Lol. It seems like it'd be a really hard name for a kid to say and spell.)
Lulu had no real reason why she didn't like Danica. Maybe it was just because she didn't do what she wanted her to, like the other girls in their dormitory did. Iris and Bethany both did whatever Lulu asked, and Danica... well, the girl was just different. She had a mind of her own, and Lulu wanted to be the only one like that. What she didn't understand was that the two girls actually had some things in common.
"Because I don't like you," she said huffily. "Your bed looks stupid over there, it should be next to the window. It sticks out where you have it now, and takes away all the floor space."

"Well if you weren't so spoiled and didn't own half the toys and clothes in London, you wouldn't need any more floor space than the rest of us," Danica shot back. She didn't care if her bed looked stupid where it was. It was safer.
She grabbed one of Lulu's pillows and ripped the case off of it, throwing both in opposite directions.
"There would be more floor space if you didn't take all my stuff out of my trunk, too, so really that's all your fault. Merlin, I wish you'd been put in Slytherin. You belong there."

"You're just jealous. My parents can afford to buy me things, and you don't even have a dad."
What she didn't say was that the things her parents bought for her were just so they could compete with each other, not because they loved her. They only hated each other, and they were using her to get back at each other. It hurt, knowing that all those things were just hollow replacements for parental love.
But saying she belonged in Slytherin... that infuriated Lulu. She didn't want to be like her parents.
"I do not!" Lulu shrieked. "You take that back!" she said angrily, getting up and grabbing her pillow off the ground.

"At least my mum loves me," was Dani's reply. She didn't meant to say that Lulu's mother didn't love her, she just meant that it made up for not having a father. What was so great about fathers, anyway? They hit mothers and made you afraid of heights. Why would she want one?
That was probably not, however, how Lulu would interpret the comment.
"I will not take it back. Make me!" Dani stood her ground, grabbing the second pillow off the bed and pulling the case off that one as well. If Lulu could make a mess, Dani could make a bigger one. She would.
Were she older, and understood Lulu's childhood, she might have felt sorry for the girl. But for now, she was just on the other end of her brattiness, and there was nothing to feel sorry about.

Those words actually made Lulu stop for just a moment. Danica might as well have punched her in the stomach with a comment like that, which cut to the very heart of her behavior problems. She was not loved, not by anyone, and she knew it. The girls who did what she told them to did so out of fear. Her parents spoiled her out of guilt and selfishness. And that left Lulu, all alone, lashing out at others to make herself feel better.
If Danica had looked at her for that brief moment, she might have seen an expression of absolute devastation on Lulu's face. But it was gone quickly, and replaced by rage. "I don't know how she could," Lulu shouted. "You're stupid and ugly and you're afraid of heights!"
It was mean and petulant, but Lulu didn't care. She stamped her foot on the ground and pulled out her wand. "Fernununculus!" she yelled, aiming the curse at Danica.

"Well, you're stupid and ugly and no one likes you!"
It was equally childish, but they were both 11. Who could expect different from them? Somewhere in the back of her mind, Dani was hesitant to really start this argument, since she had a penchant for getting in trouble for these fights. But the part of her that she listened to told her to fight back, so she was.
She screamed kind of angrily and ducked, the curse hitting the wall behind her, knocking one of the school's paintings to the floor. The thing about Dani was that she didn't think through things enough to come up with a spell that quickly, and it was easier for her just to act. She launched herself at Lulu.

"Lots of people like me!" Lulu yelled. "I have more friends than you do!"
It wasn't exactly true. Her "friends" weren't exactly the warm and supportive type. They laughed in the right places, agreed when they were supposed to, and did what she wanted them to do. But they couldn't have heart-to-heart talks with them or any of the other things real friends did. She had never had that, but she knew the difference. She saw other kids with their friends and knew that there was something very different about their friendships in comparison to hers. It hurt, but she was not about to admit that to Danica.
When Danica launched herself at Lulu, both girls hit the floor and began fighting. Lulu let out a scream, even as she began to grab a lock of Danica's hair.
