Melissa slipped away from the too quiet common room. Her humming disturbed a few of the studying Ravenclaws and it had also earned her a few dirty looks. Knowing that she wouldn't be able to get anything done, Melissa stuffed her things into her bag and headed toward the lake. At least out there she wouldn't really disturb anyone.
She passed several students on her way out. Reaching a place that no one was sitting at, Melissa sat down on the grass. The temperature felt nice outside as she stretched her legs out in front of her and pulled out her parchment that she had been scribbling notes on. Opening her book again, Melissa continued to read the last few pages that needed to be read as she scribbled down notes and started to hum very quietly to herself.

Except that someone was sitting there, or at least close by. Close enough to hear her humming.
A couple meters away, Will was leaning against a tree, just off the edge of the sand. He'd come down here for peace and quiet. Apparently, it was friendship and hugs day in the Hufflepuff common room, and he was trying really hard to study for his NEWTS. He knew those exams would be rough, and he needed the extra study time.
A soft humming broke into his thought, and easily distracted him. He was about to ask her to quiet down when he recognized the tune she was humming. He couldn't quite place it, though, and it annoyed him. "Hey, Rockstar, what are you humming?" he finally asked rather bluntly, mostly because he was intent on placing the song.

If it was too quiet, there was no way that Melissa could get anything done. She had to have some kind of music playing so that she could be productive. Of course, not many people liked the idea of noise going on around them, that was the reason why she came outside. She didn't think that there would be anyone else around her that her humming would bother. That was why when she heard the voice, her quill made a mark on the parchment.
The voice startled her, because after all, she wasn't expecting it at all. Melissa looked up to see who the person was. "Here Comes the Sun," she answered simply. Realizing that she probably would have bothered him, she couldn't help the next words that came out. "I didn't bother you or anything did I? I thought I was humming softer than I was."

"Nah, it's all right," Will said, his torso turning now so that he could see her a little easier. "I was gonna say something, but you know what? Anyone whose a fan of the Beatles can't go wrong."
He stopped talking for a minutes, eyes narrowing as he looked at her. She was in his year, he was sure of it, but he couldn't place who she was. "Hey, you're in my Charms class, aren't you? I'm Will," he said, putting a hand on his chest as if to emphasize that he was talking about himself.
