Everything had been running smoothly so far. While in London, Kayleigh had only suffered from one panic attack, but that was because she had been hearing weird noises outside of her room that night. Even today, she wasn't sure what it had been but that was just a matter of the past. She had found herself an apartment, thanks to Cale's help. It wasn't anything fancy but it fit her. She had even found a job in a local restaurant ran by muggles. It was some what of a family restaurant, but they invited Kayleigh in without a problem. Now she was one of the two chefs that worked. She was actually liking it there.
Right now the restaurant was pretty much empty with the exception of three of the locals. With her hair pulled back in a ponytail, Kayleigh stepped out from the kitchen to cool off for a few moments before more customers could come in.
She was still a little tense with her surroundings. She didn't think that she was ever going to be completely at ease. Every person that she saw come in (after all there was an opening that customers could see into the kitchen right behind the register), she observed if she wasn't busy. People still made her nervous but it was slowly, very slowly getting better.
Carefully, she leaned against the small table beside the kitchen door while she listened to Georgiana talk to Mr. Lowry. A small smile crossed her face as she heard the old man complain about how his neighbor's cat kept sneaking into his house. She took a drink from the cup of water Georgiana had poured for her just as she heard the small bell ring above the door.

Forrest wasn't really sure he liked London. If Australia was alive with color, London was like an aged, black and white photo. It was dull, but he was hoping it was only because he was an outsider. If the transfer happened from the AUstralian Quidditch team to the English one, he was going to have to learn to love this city.
Because it was the off season, he spent most of his day, when not practicing, wandering through both muggle and wizarding England, much like he was today.
Deciding to take a break, he wandered into the first restaurant he saw, a small, quaint place. Those were usually family owned and operated, which meant they made the best food.
He glanced up at the bell as it rang, and then around the mostly empty place. His eyes caught a young brunette's, and he raised his eyebrows slightly, unsure if he was supposed to wait to be seated. "Is anywhere okay?"

Mr. Lowry was an animated white haired man. He walked with a small limp and he was getting up there in age, but he didn't let that stop him. He was one of those older people who didn't care if they heard what he said, but he was also one of the nicest people Kayleigh met. During Mr. Lowry's visit, he would end up causing a laugh or two to escape her.
Kayleigh's eyes went from Georgiana and Mr. Lowry to the person who entered the door. Like anyone else that walked in, Kayleigh became stiff but she didn't move from where she was leaning. She nodded at the man's question. Georgiana knew a little about her past and the reason why she was the way she was. The woman had been nice enough to attempt Kayleigh to take it easy and not freak out easily. Working in the resturant had helped a lot.
"Anywhere you like," she said quietly. Georgiana gave her a look that said take his order. She wanted to tell her that she was the cook and it wasn't her job but Kayleigh kept her mouth shut. "What can I get you to drink," she asked.

Forrest was a little too... well, too energetic to be observant enough to catch the exchange between the two woman, but when the younger of the two told him that he could sit anywhere, he flashed her a smile that was well practiced. He posed for quite a few pictures, both solo and with his team, for a lot of wizarding news and sports magazines, and in Australia, at least, he was something of a celebrity. So he knew how to smile.
"Thanks, love."
She caught him again before he could leave, and he replied, "I'll just take a water, thanks. And I'll be at that table right there," he added, pointing.

She couldn’t help but feel a tinge of heat rise in her cheeks. Kayleigh nodded as he pointed in the direction of the table he was going to be sitting at. Another glance was thrown in Georgiana’s direction before Kayleigh turned around and started to fill a cup up with ice. If she didn’t know any better, she could have sworn that Mr. Lowery threw her a smile.
The only thing that Kayleigh could do with them was shake her head. She had to admit that life would be fairly boring if she hadn’t come to work here. They all made her feel like family. Although, Kayleigh was going to hold them a little away from her. After all, in her experience everyone she ever really cared about left her. She couldn’t bring herself to get extremely close with them, but then again maybe she was getting closer to them without really realizing it.
Pushing thoughts from her head, she finished pouring water into the glass and made her way over to the table. She didn’t have a notepad but she would be able to remember whatever the man wanted to order. “Here you go,” she said placing the glass on the table. Kayleigh swallowed, knowing that Georgiana was watching her. “What would you like to order, or do you still need a few minutes?”

Forrest was looking over the menu, but his mind was wondering a little. It happened- he had the attention span of a goldfish. He wasn't even really reading his options, and his attention was immediately drawn to the brunette when she came back to his little table. He really hated eating out alone, he decided. Would he be out of line if he asked her to join him if she had a break? Hell, the poor girl wouldn't want to spend her break entertaining a customer. That's what she got paid for.
"You know... I don't think a few minutes will even help. What do you recommend?"

Now Kayleigh was wishing she had a pen in her hand or something. She felt like fidgeting with something but there was nothing for her. Keeping her hands still, there was still a light tint on her face.
"Well, I guess it depends on what your taste is. The burgers are pretty good and cooked to however you like it. There's also the special if you want more than just fries and a burger. Today it's Dublin Coddle, which is sausage, bacon, potatoes, onions, and just a bit of salt and pepper." Kayleigh attempted to make her voice confident even though inside she was nervous as could be.

Forrest tilted his head to the side, smiling gently. He liked to think he was smooth with the ladies... and all he wanted to do was get this girl to crack a smile.
"All right... hmm. Well, if you were sitting across from me right now, what would you order?" Maybe that was a better way to approach the question. He'd get her to tell him something personal one way or another, and what mean you'd eat seemed pretty tame.

"Maybe because I'm a bit partial to it, but I'd go with the Irish Coddle. It's a pretty popular dish back home and one of me favorites." Kayleigh's facial expression lightened a little. She was attempting to read the man in front of her, but part of her was a little unsure. He seemed confident in himself. She wasn't exactly sure what to think of him.
"Plus, I’m the one that’ll be cookin’ it, so anythin’ I say would be pretty biased, but I promise anythin’ you get will be cooked the way you want it.”

Forrest's smile was gentle, and he nodded once. "Irish Coddle it is, love." He'd had every intention of ordering whatever she suggested.
If she was having a hard time reading him, he was having a rough time, too. She was shy, but it was almost like she wanted to just bust out laughing and didn't know how. He was intrigued, to say the least.
"And you cook it however you like it."

Kayleigh didn't laugh all that often. She was getting better with the more people that she met, however. Of course she was getting closer to people than she ever realized that she was. It was just something that happened and hopefully she wouldn't really notice it. Kayleigh felt like she was becoming more herself rather than some scared individual.
The man sitting at the table seemed nice enough and Kayleigh felt herself relax more. "Give me a few minutes and I'll have you a bowl of it." She smiled softly just as she turned to return to the kitchen to grab a bowl and the spoon. Once the bowl was full, she returned to the man's table and placed the bowl in front of him. "It's best served pipin' hot, so be careful."
