It was always a sure sign of trouble brewing when the hospital started seeing an increase in severe injuries. It seemed like lately, the hospital had been busier than ever, and as the Chief of Staff, Lindsay was, therefore, also busier than ever. On top of the patients, she had to worry about her staff members. Most of them seemed to be doing OK, but they had lost several staff members in the Hogsmeade attack. Tanya wasn't terribly missed, it seemed, but Grace's death had inspired a small memorial in front of her office door.
She was particularly worried about Kieran Dawn, a sensitive young man who had lost most of his family in the attack. He kept on working, but Lindsay was very worried that the boy might be heading for a breakdown. You couldn't go through something like that and expect to bounce back immediately.
These thoughts, and others, were still on her mind as she walked into the house. But as always, as soon as she closed the front door, all thoughts of the hospital were pushed from her mind. She was home now, and it was time to relax and enjoy her time with her husband.
"Honey?" she called as she hung up her cloak on the coat rack, "Are you home yet?"

Luke had spent all day at home. He planned to go out and do something with his day, but deciding he was too lazy, he stayed in bed with a book, which wasn't like him at all. He shrugged it off, telling himself it felt like an off kind of a day.
He had just woken up from his nap when his wife called to him, asking if he was home. He ran his hand through his hair as he yawned, trying to get it to stay down. He knew, even with his best efforts, Lindsay would know he had been home long enough for a nap.
He quickly went downstairs, smiling when he saw his wife standing there. She looked tired, as she always did after work, and Luke immediately wrapped her in a tight hug. "Long day?" He asked.

Lindsay hugged him back tightly, then pressed a kiss on his cheek. "You didn't go out at all today, did you?" she asked, noticing that his hair was sticking up in the back. "I thought you were going to work on getting a job..."
She sighed and shook her head. She didn't want to nag. But right now, she was the sole provider for the family. And she strongly believed in her husband, thinking that he could do anything, if he just put his mind to it.
"Never mind," she said quickly. "Let's just figure out what we're going to do for dinner."

Luke sighed, knowing she would bring it up, no matter how hard he tried to cover up the fact that he was home all day. Lindsay, I'm sorry. I'll go out tomorrow," He said, but was interrupted by her mentioning dinner. He contemplated where he should look, and if he would surprise her by getting a job at the hospital, but threw that idea out as soon as it came up; he wouldn't be very good at it.
"Well, what do you feel like having tonight? I'm alright with anything," He replied, going over to where they kept the menus from the various restaurants they liked. "Or would you like to go out to eat?" He wasn't thinking anything fancy, but it had been a while since they had gone out to eat somewhere.

Lindsay was tired, and if she was honest with herself, she really would have liked to just order a pizza and lounge around the house with Luke for the evening. On the other hand, there was something very tempting about the idea of going out to eat with her husband. They didn't go out very often, and as she had already discussed, Luke really needed to get out of the house a little more. She liked going out with him; it felt like an event. Almost like a date.
"We could go out, if you wanted," she said. "How about Galligan's? I could really go for one of their pizzas."

Luke wondered what she would pick, hoping it wasn't something they ordered all the time. He shouldn't complain about it, since he wasn't working and they didn't have the money to 'explore their options' much. He was going to offer to cook her something so she could stay home and rest, but he wasn't any better at cooking than Lindsay was.
"Pizza sounds good. We could also stay in, if you want. You look too tired to move anymore today." Luke didn't know how many times he told her that daily, and a wave of guilt hit him for making her work so hard. The only two people he cared about were his son and his wife, and he was letting one of them down.

Lindsay was tired, but she really didn’t blame Luke for that. She loved her job, and she truly felt that she was doing some good. But there was no denying that it was a difficult, stressful job. Since Grace’s death, Lindsay had been forced to take a more active role in the staff. She was not just an administrator; she also saw patients when things got busy. In addition, she needed to make sure that her staff members were holding up well under the stress of the job. Most were doing OK, but there was at least one she was worried about. And there were a few that she didn’t quite trust.
“Yeah, you know what? Let’s just order a pizza and stay in,” Lindsay said, reaching up to rub her neck. “I’d love to go out… but maybe not tonight. I’m taking off on Friday, though… I’m leaving Chase in charge. Maybe we could go out then. I also wanted to see if Warren could visit for the weekend. I miss him so much when he’s away at school.”

Luke smiled and nodded, liking the idea of visiting Warren. Although he wouldn't admit it as freely as his wife, he missed his son too, and hated when he started school. "That's a good idea, but do you think he'd like us showing up with all his friends there?" Luke asked, trying not to seem like he was shooting the idea down; he wasn't. He was just thinking of how he was at his son's age. "Maybe we could send him an owl tomorrow and see if he could meet us in Hogsmeade," Luke offered, figuring that way Warren could see his parents without being around his friends and getting the reputation of someone who needed his mother and father at school with him.
"Alright, you go get changed and I'll order the pizza. What would you like on it?" Luke asked, picking the phone up. Even though they weren't muggles, phones were one thing that always fascinated Luke from a young age; he tried using them as much as possible.

"We're his parents, I'm pretty sure it's our duty and our right to embarrass him at every opportunity," Lindsay said with a smile. "But I like the idea of meeting him in Hogsmeade. We could take him out to lunch, and he won't feel so self-conscious having his parents around at school. We should owl him tonight and see if he'd be able to do that. Hopefully we won't be taking him away from his studies."
Warren was a good student, and she certainly wanted to encourage that, but she did miss him and wanted to spend time with him whenever she could. Sometimes it almost seemed like she and Luke didn't have anything to talk about when Warren wasn't around, but surely it wasn't that bad....
Lindsay gave him a quick kiss before she turned and hurried upstairs to get changed into something more comfortable. It had been another long day, and she was eager to relax with her husband.
