"Eyeliner? Lipliner?" Daphne looked at Brenda curiously. She didn't want to pile on makeup. If it was something light, then that would be fine. After all, Daphne never wore any make up unless it was lip gloss, but that was usually the only thing she would ever wear. "And teasing my hair?" All of what Brenda was suggesting made Daphne feel a little uneasy. She was unsure of what she should do.
At the mention of the possibility of not filling out the top of a shirt, Daphne brought her knees up. Brenda's comment made her feel a little more insecure about herself. "I-I don't know about all of that," she said unsurely.

“Oh, grow up, Daphne,” Brenda said, rolling her eyes. “Do you just want to be drab, boring little Daphne all your life, just blending into the background all the time? Never getting a guy? I mean, all those things work for me, don’t they? But maybe you just want to work in a dark library or something somewhere and collect cats.”

Sometimes blending into the background wasn't such a bad thing. She didn't want to be in the spotlight all the time and if Brenda was going to give her a makeover, Daphne didn't want to turn out to look like she did. Layers of makeup wouldn't look right on Daphne, she was sure of that. If she wasn't scared to say something, she would have said something that maybe she liked the way she looked. However, Daphne would never say anything like that. Instead her cheeks burned.
Considering what Brenda said, Daphne sighed and put her chin on her knee. Having a guy sounded nice, but Daphne wouldn't have wanted it to be a fling. Plus she was completely inexperienced with how something like that worked. Brenda had been her 'friend' for a while, and maybe she was right. She didn't really want to end up working in a dark library and collect cats.
Looking back up to Brenda, Daphne gave an almost defeated look. "Alright. You can give me a make over, just nothing too heavy, alright?"

Brenda smiled triumphantly. "Oh, sure, sure," she replied dismissively. "Nothing too heavy. Just... an enhancement. That's all. You can trust me."
Of course, she was lying. The makeover would be heavy and drastic and a total change in Daphne's look... the more dramatic, the better. It was really all Brenda could do not to burst out laughing as she pictured it. This was going to be fun.
"This weekend is a Hogsmeade weekend," she pointed out. "I could do it then. What do you say?"

A makeover still made Daphne a little unsure of herself. She didn't know why she was so nervous about a makeover. Someone would think that she had been asked to make a speech in front of the entire school if they knew how nervous she was. Although, maybe this would be a good thing. Maybe it wouldn't turn out horribly. Daphne could only hope.
She was completely unaware of Brenda's thoughts about how she was going to look. Plus, if it was a Hogsmeade weekend would mean majority of the student body would be gone. Daphne wasn't planning on going to Hogsmeade. She had far too much work to do to actually leave school. There was also the fact that she was never asked to go to Hogsmeade with anyone except for Heather.
"Alright. We can do it this weekend. I suppose I could take a very small break in doing work. After we finish I have to finish everything, but short break wouldn't hurt."

Brenda smiled sweetly. "Good," she said. "Oh, this will be so much fun... you won't believe your eyes when I'm done with you. I'll meet you at noon, OK?"
This was turning out to be a good day. And she was really looking forward to this weekend. She was positively giddy... it was almost like having sex. Almost.
"So, about that assignment...?" she said, changing the subject. "Remember, I really need it before my date tonight... I might not get back in time to finish it, if you know what I mean."

"Noon, got it," Daphne said with a nod. She put her chin back on her knee. What was she getting herself into? There was a small part of her brain telling her that this was not a good idea whatsoever but another part of her was saying that she wanted to do this. After all, she didn't want to end up like one of those cat ladies who just collected cat after cat once they got older. Daphne didn't want to be single forever. However, that small part of her brain was also telling her that things took time to happen and one of Brenda's makeovers was not going to help her.
Daphne shut out that part of her brain. She could do this. After all, she wasn't planning to actually go to Hogsmeade. It wasn't as if people would actually see her, or that was her plan anyway.
"I know," she said. Daphne didn't really want to get up from where she was. The sun felt nice beaming down on her. "I'll go ahead and go get it so I can give it to you now and you'll have time to finish it." Sighing, she got up and brushed herself off.

Great," Brenda said, nodding with satisfaction. She was greatly looking forward to this weekend, even more than usual. The wicked ideas were spinning through her head, and if she were the organized type, she'd be compelled to get a quill and parchment and start making lists. But of course, lists were for nerds. Brenda wouldn't be caught doing such a thing, unless she had Daphne or one of her other minions do it for her.
When Daphne stood up, Brenda waved dismissively. The words "thank you" were not exactly in her vocabulary. "I'll just wait here. Maybe I'll take a little nap. It could be a while before I get any sleep tonight, after all."

Hearing Brenda might not really get any sleep, it caused Daphne to roll her eyes when she turned her back. "Alright, I'll be right back then." She didn't really want to leave the place where she was, but she knew that she could always come back to it.
Daphne was a runner. If she had attended a muggle school, she probably could have been on the track and field team. She dashed up to the school, and then slowed it down whenever she entered the school. Several students were walking around and she didn't want to cause that much attention to herself as she made her way to the Hufflepuff common room.
Once she reached her dorm, she saw her bag. Reaching in, she didn't find Brenda's paper right off. Feeling a little worried, because she knew she did it, Daphne quickly took everything out of her bag and found Brenda's paper. Part of her wondered why on earth she was still doing this for people. Pushing out any thoughts, Daphne returned to the lake.
"Here you go. No big words or anything like that in it. I think it's fine for you," she said as reached where Brenda still remained.

Brenda practically snatched the paper from Daphne's hands and looked down at it boredly, pretending to read it over. The truth was, she didn't care. She was sure whatever Daphne had written was fine, if mind-blowingly boring. How teachers could even stand to read this crap was beyond her. Teachers had to have such boring lives. Daphne was practically one of them already.
"Yeah, OK. It's probably good enough," she said dismissively. "After all, if it was too good, my professor would just get suspicious."
She gave a yawn and a stretch, then stood up, clutching the paper in her hand. "Anyway, I have to get ready for my date. I'll catch you later or something."
And then she was walking away, without so much as a kind word to Daphne.
